How To Use A ToolPRO Clutch Alignment Tool

Aligning a clutch disc, pressure plate, and gearbox shaft after replacing the clutch - need not require a perfect eye and uncanny skills. The ToolPRO Universal Clutch Aligning Tool is all you need.
The 6 simple parts in this kit will ensure that every piece in the clutch assembly lines up - before you even place it on the flywheel.
First of all, select a collet from the three available. This should match the splined hub as closely as possible. Assemble the tool with the splined hub as shown, and thread the brass nut onto the back.
Ensure the clutch disc is facing the right direction; and place the pressure plate over the top. Now insert the tool, ensuring the plastic collet locates inside the spline. Hold the tool steady, and tighten the brass nut firmly.
Tighten the large plastic nut against the fingers of the pressure plate, just enough to hold it all steady - then turn the pressure plate over. There should be just enough pressure on the clutch disc to hold it steady, yet still be movable with slight force. Slide the clutch disc around until it is dead centre on the pressure plate - then further tighten the large plastic nut to ensure it doesn’t move.
At this point your clutch assembly is ready to be mounted to the flywheel. Just fasten the pressure plate to the flywheel before loosening the large plastic nut on your aligning tool - and removing it completely.
The pressure plate will hold the clutch disc in place, and make lining up the gearbox shaft a breeze.
It’s a tool you may only use once or twice. But when you do; you’ll be so glad you have it.

This tool does not align the parts, it just holds them together. The big screw must be conical, so then alignment is possible.
I was about to say that. If you are depending on your eye to make sure the clutch is lined up with the pressure plate.....it's bound to be not exactly accurate....at least not for everyone, every time.

can I use this with a 1990 Nissan Navara?
Save your $3 or whatever this tool costs, it is rubbish. I bought one and ended up aligning my clutch by eye because this tool is hopeless. It doesn't align anything at all, it just holds everything together. You still need to align the clutch plate to the pressure plate by eye, and if that is out by even a little bit, the input shaft won't go in to the spigot bearing. I had a few goes at making this thing work and we gave up on it. Complete garbage. Spend the same money and get a proper clutch aligning tool that has splines and a collar and shaft for a spigot bearing. Hell, for the $10 they cost buy a few sizes and ditch the univeral crap.
Rubbish, crap tool.... yeah, I agree, save your pocket change and buy a real tool!

Hi Miguel, This is a universal tool, it suits most clutch setups. Best to check the procedure from the service manual to ensure if this tool is suitable for task.
They really are crap. Avoid. The whole point is to align the spigot with the clutch disc... Which this does not at all. Mine was free so I ditched it and machined an aluminium spacer. Again. Do not buy this crap
