My sucky 3300x/1660 Super PC which barely meets minimum requirements doesn't lag when I use NDBs in 3.18. I think Gen12 might make the difference and they're not causing frame drops anymore?
If people have frame drops due to NDB's they have a couple options. 1. File a report on the issue counsel and wait for the game to get better optimization. 2. Upgrade your PC because it's probably only going to be more intensive to run in the future. 3. Suck it up. However alot of people would complain you are a griefer anyway😂 because that's the current meta: PVP = Griefing. You be you and if you wanna run them go right ahead, it's an openworld game.
It’s an exploit-by using a weapon you know is unoptimized and results in advantage not related to your skill it’s cheese-it’s not about being “nice” it’s about fair play just like when having your landing gear down on a vanguard made that whole face of the ship invulnerable-it’s “in the game” but it’s not intended, just like frame loss to other players is not intended
I did switch to the NDBs a month ago, on my banu defender, mainly because I knew they were still good like the panthers but were blue lasers, I had no idea there was lag associated with them.
I switched from panthers to NDBs just because I wanted a change from the typical red laser repeater… I had no idea it caused issues. I think you should play what you wanna play.
hey as long as it only drops a few frames, but I would draw a line if it would degrade server peformance. Or if it's closer to an exploit, like if it was guaranteed that you'll F up the other guys game by using an Item, then oyu shlould not do it. As someone with a shitty PC below min specs who uses NDB's I can tell you that it doesn't matter in this case, my performance is already so far below my opponents I wont notice 5-10 frames lost as I lose frames to everything
I put NDB's on my Nomad. I don't give a rats ass in some player pirate attacks me and his frame rate drops because I am using them. My frame rate doesn't drop when I use them. Tested them against npc's mind you, but I noticed no frame rate drop.
I mainly pve and couldn't care less what someone attacking me thinks about my loadout. At the end of the day it's a game in testing and doesn't matter.
There are many things that can make a borderline PC drop frames. I really don't think it should be the responsibility of any player to make a fight "fair". This game has many survival game elements, and (with the exception of a prearranged dogfight where the weapons are agreed on) I think people should use whatever gives them the best chance to survive.
People who say "it's in alpha" aren't completely wrong. But they point you said they make isn't what I agree with. I think it's the fact that's in alpha that's the answer to your first question "why do people look out for one another more than in other games". People realize the devs good way more stuff to work on that devs of a released game would. But at the end of the day, we do need to test and push everything to its limits, it's an uncomfortable part of games in development, it can make them less fun, but we need to prioritize the development aspect.
Wait what? I have NDB's on my ship and I have a old PC, might be a bad Idea then lol. Edit: This actually can't be that bad as I have okay frames while doing normal fights with my NDB might drop 5-10 frames or so but what doesn't in this game. All rigs below mine aren't even in the minimum specs as I am already below them on some levels. If you play under minimum required specs you expect bad results
How the fk am I supposed to know what game asset runs like garbage on someone elses computer? How long has this been am issue? I don't care. If it's in the game, I'm using it. Simple.

Using bugs to win while flying non-meta ships...interesting idea. I had no idea this was a thing, but I am not surprised.

I usually run cannons for memes. But also when i do land shots and kill its the best feeling.
