Waiting to see Kibs hit the math about using all the Plutonium Waste vs SAM vs Sloops. I just finished my 1,800,000MW full nuclear facility and there were several surprises along the way. Was a lot of fun building the "solution".
@owenbuckley705 Spoilers... Would like to chat about how you are planning to handle the SAM use vs Sloop use when doing a zero Plutonium waste build? In my plan I used electric circuits to control the water pumps on small groups of Plutonium Generators so I could turn them off as needed, sinking all the overflow Plutonium rods to get rid of all the uranium waste. While minimizing the amount of Plutonium waste created needing to be converted to Ficsonium rods. Overflow SAM not used in Ficsonium flows over to the main base to use it for better things over there. I also anticipate moving sloops around the map in and out of machines to optimize the SAM use a little here, a little there. I forsee a lot of granular management in my future as I try to maximize Awesome Point generation balanced with power, SAM and Sloops. 😅
My solution if I ever found the energy to actually make it a reality: Don't make Plutonium waste. 10 fueled Alien Gens brings no converter max uranium (50.4 rods/min) to 1,890,000MW all on its own.
The entire time I was thinking “he’s got his math wrong”, but at least you realized it before you got too deep! Looking forward to seeing how you set it up, bc I did mine with just the basic recipes before going out and getting all the alternates.
like the train stations placement tip pressing the hold key for nudging (even though you can't nudge them) allows the water extractor to place at the height of the extractor you snap it to
For the temporary BPs ... Make a category called "Projects"... Then sub categories for each factory. So you don't clutter your undefined. Then you don't have to delete them and if you need them later you have them.
To be fair the game gives you little motivation to build big anyways. You can beat the game far faster by building modestly and efficiently. Going big is purely a sandbox move. Voluntary grind. I kinda wanna see game modes with increasingly high unit counts of parts you need to deliver. Like normal, 3x and 10x or something. Give us a context for grinding out the big builds.
Kibz is going to have a nuclear fallout after 15 min of his reactors running. That is the thing i learned from my last playthrough. Even if you designed your nuclear fuel factory to make X amount of fuel, but your current grid doesnt even need half of that power, just dont turn on all of the nuclear reactors yet and just sink the fuel rods. Else you will end up with so much waste so quick that you wont even have the time to make the next step of reprocessing that waste
I think your math is wrong. 254 Nuclear Power stations use all 2300 uranium. 254 NPS at 250% = 101.6 NPS. They need 600 water each which equals 60950 water. This is not including water used in construction parts which equals 2298 water.
@IamKibitz there is a nifty trick to lift all this water to high place without using single pump on all of those lines. It involves principal that the pressure spreads evenly in all directions. So you need to lift water with single pipe to a place higher than the place you intend to use all this water. Only this single pipe will use pumps. You fill a tank or more with this pipe. Then you drop down a pipe from the tank(s) and merge it with each end of your water pipes as through valve at each end. In that way you will have the pressure to lift the water in each pipe to wherever you want on the map as long as it is lower than the pressure tank(s), without using any pump!
So if I understand you correctly you are building loops, meaning almost doubling the time to build pipes. That sounds like a good torture method I will keep for my future children. And the 2nd issue: What if you need the whole pipe in like 2 machines? The whole "nifty" thing about having only to pump one pipe goes utterly down the drain. Literally.
@SmokeJam No dude, that's how water supply works everywhere. Thats why you have so called water towers in all villages normally on the higest spot so there is whater pressure in every home. You can even see it on high buildings there us always big reservouar for water supplying the building and eve on the last floor there is quite high water pressure. That''s physics and that is how it works. And the satisfactory variant is not a loop. There can be a single pipe going upwards to a tank of water that will supply the pressure. Then you take a pipe down and connect it to all other lines that supply the water. That way you will have water to every place in your factory without need to place pumps and connect wire them to the grid, as long as you stay below the tank level. And you can add as many new water lines as you wish after that and still no pumps and power. Saving on power is also good you know?

I can't wait until kibz sits down and does the math to see how much ficsonium he's going to have to make in order to get rid of all the plutonium waste. It's a ridiculous amount and you need singularity cells for all of it, which means you need just insane amounts of everything. I suspect there isn't enough copper on the map to make all the pasta you'd need. It's way too expensive right now, they need to make ficsonium use up a LOT more nuclear waste otherwise it's just not worth ever using. Plus the process makes a ton of dark matter residue, which requires a TON of energy to convert directly into dark matter crystals just to sink it. So it really eats up all the power gains. In fact I don't see how it can even be energy positive by the time you factor everything in.
@@newsomething9437 it doesn't take that much effort, especially if you overclock. About the nudging of the Water Extractors, I think when you aim with the mouse, the game switches between „locking on to the mashine next to it“ and „locking onto the actual surface of the water“ So it tries to either have the same height as its neighbor, or the actual height it would have if you placed it solo there. Im not sure but either way, there are still some very specific deadspots in the game😅 I remember a specific foundation that would not let me connect the pipes i was building normaly. Now the pipeline has a nudge to the side there and my brain is kinda happy
In the past I did too bring my grid from the start, but since 1.0 came out and I start anew I used global grid instead and recommend you too. You just use Ctrl to place first foundation locked on global grid.
i just finished building my first nuclear power plant, and it wasnt until i was almost done that i realized i could use somersloops to double the fuel rod production. then i realized how much more stuff i'd need to reprocess double the waste and decided to not do that lmao
I ran into a similar problem placing a lot of water extractors down. I don't know what it is but I found that for water sources, holding ctrl or alt to align the extractor caused the elevation issue.
Well I learned something new from you Kibitz thanks. 12:07, had to watch it several times to figure out how you did it. That will be very helpful. Thanks. Another thing I learned, make sure your math is correct. lol
The biggest quality of life feature I want from Satisfactory is the ability to copy/save constructions as blueprints. Imagine if you could have just highlighted the entire water pumping plant and copy it. Most factory building games let you do that, why not this one?
You could just box in the initial water extractor area in a huge glass dome and make it a nature reserve like the chernobyl exclusion zone :D no buildings, just a bunch of wildlife living its best life
The water in that area is really weird. The further out you go from shore, the higher the water level is. Half my power plant is under water because by the time I realized it, I had already built over half of it and didn’t want to start over. You never see it except from a distance anyway. 😂
I think you made the platforms too low for the water extractors. At the end when they sank into the water, that's when they actually started snapping to the foundation
@Kibitz: 0:40 I wish you would try to not build just a brutalist style concrete blob, but maybe go with a more open design that eg. is actually just a buch of scaffolding held up by pillars. It's such a nice place and I think it could be a very neat opportunity to include the surrounding area into your build
Was the one who set up power on my friend's multiplayer server when 1.0 came out and we wanted to revisit it . . . I will not play again without first finding a mod for an MK2 water extractor and MK3 pipes because of this lol. After seeing the issues with his coal factory because his water flow was completely messed up, I just took over power generation without saying anything, one of our coal plants underperforming is fine.
In this episode: Kibz discovers that math is a harsh mistress, has the first of what can only be the first of many nuclear meltdowns, and boards the crazy train.
good lord man, impressive. My friends and I just started a new game on a server with all the new updates I said it's time for fun.. LOL Love your work.
Over 14 hours is what you reported on that water extractor and pipeline project. But more than that probably. I'm somewhere between 200 and 300 hours now, a relative newbie. That's beautiful. That's insane. I better get out!
The other issue is you need at least 40,000 MW to power all those water extractors and associated MkII pumps, which requires an extremely large power source of which nuclear power is the obvious solution, which you don't have yet because you need the water for the nuclear power.
Just for YOU, they NEED to make a "Super Pipe"... One large pipe that can hold exactly 9x the volume of the pipes that you used. A nice 9x plate at both ends, for connections. I still want to see a conveyor system that hold "stacks", instead of individual items. Instead of a conveyor trying to animate a billion individual items per second. It would move the speed of the original, slow conveyor. However, it would hold stacks of 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x as crates of items. (It could even be mixed items. Merged with the same merging connections and sorted the same way. Essentially filling the merge and splitter buffer contents into a crate. They could be set to "max-fill" or "hold and release". Max fill would demand a full crate, before it release one. Hold and release, would release once full, or once a free space is available on the conveyor, with a partial filled crate.) All these machines need a much larger version. If only to reduce the 3D demand and processing on the game. They really should have an exponent system setup. 1x, 4x, 16x, 64x for each machine type. However, the larger machines only get 2x larger, per level. They should also get more simplified in structure. All the 64x machines looking almost like a giant cube with internal moving parts that can be easily hidden at distances. Looking almost like mini-factory buildings that can all stack to form a larger mini-factory stack. They also need an "ImKibitz", wide-load, tall freight train! Holding freight containers of stacked items, 4x to 8x more than a normal train can hold. Maybe a high-speed "tube train". (Again, a simplified delivery that can be made faster and with less 3D complexity. A 4x to 9x larger tube, like the proposed 9x liquid tube... But it would be made to house a high-speed tube-freight delivery train. Made specific for solids transporting only.) Have end-stackable sorters, for direct conveyor hook-ups. Easy loading and unloading, which expands to desire. Just add more on the end!
I've been scared to do nuclear cause it always seemed like such a big task, but for us regular folks just playing the game, one Node is more than enough and the factory/plant doesn't get that big. Water is still a huge task, even though I only need 20 full pipes I am still Overclocking my Extractors
No doubt this biome sized plant will evolve as we get new sources of fuel and machinery to make it even spicier. May kibz be mentally sound at the end and may the nuclear plant be able to withstand the loads without going critical
I spent a few weeks making one that used most of the map's U resources and a Pu cell recoup for the waste, and totaled 115 plants. This is about half the 250 you stated, (I worked the 60,000 cubic meters backwards to find the count of power plants) That build took me about 20 hours in game over nearly a month. (edit, after he corrected this to 125000 water in the last 2 minutes, that would mean 520 reactors... so mine is more like 1/4 instead of 1/2 in non-overclocked equivalencies)
I wonder Why NO ONE seems to utilize water towers with buffers to help with the amount of pumps needed in a system. Just build a water tower for each full pipe of water really tall, taller then the height of your build, and the pumps needed to get to that height then you wont have to worry about any water flow issues or need any random pumps anywhere.
WE’RE NUCLEAR BABY!! It also means many future nuclear meltdowns, sorry future kibz

In the past I did too bring my grid from the start, but since 1.0 came out and I start anew I used global grid instead and recommend you too. You just use Ctrl to place first foundation locked on global grid.
As someone who is building his nuclear plant now...yeah the water....
Last time the game wanted me to get "just" ~25k liters of water I stopped playing. Respect man
i just finished building my first nuclear power plant, and it wasnt until i was almost done that i realized i could use somersloops to double the fuel rod production. then i realized how much more stuff i'd need to reprocess double the waste and decided to not do that lmao
I ran into a similar problem placing a lot of water extractors down. I don't know what it is but I found that for water sources, holding ctrl or alt to align the extractor caused the elevation issue.
I can never get the pipes this organized. BUT NOW... i have insparrrraaatiooonnnne!!!
just bc the community manager is stepping out doesnt mean that the legends who play satis will never step out
thanks for the beam tip for railroad foundation building
I think you made the platforms too low for the water extractors. At the end when they sank into the water, that's when they actually started snapping to the foundation
Can you run a wall pipe hole to get extras distance on the water pipe connections similar to the floor hole exploit with the belts.
The reef! Glassed! Mad man.
Merry Christmas Kibitz!
merry Christmas kibs / kibitz
This will be fun to watch good luck man
can you imagine getting kibitz a christmas present and see him get annoyed by the fact that its not symmetric
Every time you say "Good news!" I just hear professor Farnsworth from Futurama
@Imkibitz i learned you can attach water extractors to walls to get them in perfect in. 😮
surprised you didn't use rocket fuel. It's really OP
I hope I get to watch the first nuclear plant meltdown live on twitch :)
Bruh that thumbnail is insane 😨
Hehe when bro asks for “just a sip” 😂
I can't believe this. SO MANY PIPES. Your hard work is inspiring!
If small things like the water extractors drive you insane you should see the video I made on my satisfactory world lol
Had the same problem with water extractors. They seem to not like the drop off areas.
I think it's because they snap to foundations and foundations have the top and bottom snap edge.
beginnin' to feel like a Pipe God, Pipe God
All my people from the front to the back nod, back nod
merry christmas kibz/kibitz
200 Mk.2 pipelines at 100% flowrate.
400 water extractors and 1200 shards for just the water extractors
In this episode: Kibz discovers that math is a harsh mistress, has the first of what can only be the first of many nuclear meltdowns, and boards the crazy train.
"Just place the junction and align the extractors to that..."
🤯
I wish they made the water extractors like other machines where you can copy and paste opposed to setting all them up individually
Water=good, Lloyd=Water, Lloyd=good
good lord man, impressive. My friends and I just started a new game on a server with all the new updates I said it's time for fun.. LOL Love your work.
Crazy going you are slowly.
You do be crazy sometimes Kibitz! lol
Rookie numbers kibz, mine needed 174,600 for 1/3 :3
Over 14 hours is what you reported on that water extractor and pipeline project. But more than that probably. I'm somewhere between 200 and 300 hours now, a relative newbie. That's beautiful. That's insane. I better get out!
The other issue is you need at least 40,000 MW to power all those water extractors and associated MkII pumps, which requires an extremely large power source of which nuclear power is the obvious solution, which you don't have yet because you need the water for the nuclear power.
rocket fuel is a resource efficient power dense option for a start up power-plant, or just build a big battery bank to charge while you build.
You have not built a sip. You have constructed... The Big Gulp.
Hold and release, would release once full, or once a free space is available on the conveyor, with a partial filled crate.)
All these machines need a much larger version.
Just add more on the end!
i’m ngl i love getting stoned as shit and watching your videos
How much Uran Plutonium and Ficsonium Fuel rods do you plan on?
And amazing work i'm excited to see more
Was literally thinking i want a kibz vid, and caught this 9 minutes after upload. Love you Kibz keep it up o7
Idk what this game is or how to play it and on what but this seems right up my alley. I need more content
I've been scared to do nuclear cause it always seemed like such a big task, but for us regular folks just playing the game, one Node is more than enough and the factory/plant doesn't get that big.
Water is still a huge task, even though I only need 20 full pipes I am still Overclocking my Extractors
That’s funny, my next factory also needs 120000 water, might have to borrow some ideas
Planning out my own nuclear power. I knew something was up when you said 60k water only. My rough math comes to 132k needed.
so is this water just for the Uranium Fuel? or did you plan ahead for all the Plutonium and Ficonium stuff as well?
Hey Kibitz so about that Satisfactory+ mod
Will you record more?
I wonder Why NO ONE seems to utilize water towers with buffers to help with the amount of pumps needed in a system. Just build a water tower for each full pipe of water really tall, taller then the height of your build, and the pumps needed to get to that height then you wont have to worry about any water flow issues or need any random pumps anywhere.
