I'm always so drawn to Byredo and am going to have to get a sample set one of these days. The whole concept and minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic are right up my alley, and I've liked the few scents that I've tested so far. You're right - Byredo fragrances don't necessary wow you at first, but there's just something a bit unusual and intriguing about them that stays with you.
Yes! The ones I love haven’t been immediate “loves at first sniff” for me, but then I feel a need to go back to them and then I fall in love 🥰 and I adore the chic packaging!
That Guerlain coconut one is UNMATCHED. This coming from someone who dislikes coconut scents !! LOL its amazing. I cannot believe they're discontinuing it!

I wanted to love Coconut Fizz, but it totally gave me Bath and Bodyworks Cucumber Melon vibes. I absolutely LOVE coconut in my fragrances, I recently picked up Skylar Coconut Cove, and it’s exactly what I wanted Coconut Fizz to be!

I also love Coconut Cove! Havent tried Coconut Fizz, but Coconut Cove is the fizzy, refreshing coconut I was looking for! It's a little sweeter than I would like, but still my favorite coconut fragrance!

I have such a difficult time with fragrance because so much of it just makes me sick. The best I have found for fresh clean perfume is my absolute favorite pure grace from philosophy, then Hermes un jardin sue le nildolce and Gabbana light blue is good too. Despite those three I have yet to find some thing that does not gag me or give me a headache
Try taking epsom salt baths regularly and see if it changes your chemical sensitivity. I actually use the epsom concentrate lotion daily and I'm now able to use all kinds of fragrances . Even one that I was just about to throw away. Still can't do perfumes that are super sweet or smell like chocolate. A lot of the fragrances are very estrogenic and hard for the liver to process. The sulfate in natural epsom salts is one of the ways your liver detoxifies estrogens and other chemicals. I still mainly spray them on when I'm fully dressed just in case it becomes to much for my body to handle directly all over the skin
I know what you mean. Many of the fragrances that smell of fabric conditioner and are suggested as easy, everyday 'clean smelling' fragrances contain a tonne of synthetic musks and other ingredients which induce the most epic nausea-headaches in me too. I've love to be able to wear them but it's a mistake every time as they just make me feel sick.
I suggest you try a sample of Byredo Blanche. I have a fragrance allergy (direct skin contact) so I’ve avoided fragrance-laced anything most of my life. I’m trying to give it chance now (albeit sprayed through clothing) and the first one that I found clean and fresh without being offensive is Blanche. It was my gateway to Byredo, which led me to trying Gypsy Water and Bal D’afrique that were mentioned in this video. Still, I often go back to Blanche and would recommend it to anyone who aren’t into strong scents.
@@elleporidae This is a really thoughtful recommendation. Blanche is HUGE is Korea and Japan, where more gentle fragrances are popular. The cultures tend to avoid strong fragrances worn on the person or in communal spaces so when someone is sensitive to fragrance in general, I'd recommend they research what's going on in Korea and Japan. Parfum Satori and Di Ser have many great fragrances that are clean and gentle and don't have explosive, obnoxious sillage. Many fragrances in the West that are all about 'clean linen' or involve the word 'musk' could rightly be seen as olfactory fire alarms: synthetic musks are TERRIBLE for triggering migraines and nausea-headaches.
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 Funny enough, that’s actually one of the reasons why I got to know Byredo Blanche. I see it so often used by Korean actresses and they always describe it as light and clean, like a crisp white shirt. I definitely agree. I live in a county in Southeast Asia that also aligns similarly with East Asian countries like South Korea and Japan wherein strong fragrances are considered off-putting and even rude. It’s better to use a cheap but light cologne or not have a fragrance at all than a strong one. I’ll definitely look into Parfum Satori and Di Ser. This is the first time I’ve heard of those brands and hopefully I can get a sample where I’m from. Thank you for those recommendations! I definitely agree with your description of most fragrances in the West. Unfortunately, they are all too common as most are produced by large fashion/luxury houses. They are… overwhelming. I’m glad that there are niche brands that have a more “minimalist” approach to scents and cater to those with fragrance sensitivities or even lighter preferences. They are quite challenging to find but I’d rather get a headache over that than a fragrance-induced one lol

Ha this is good feedback, I’ve been wearing Glossier You for awhile but it’s too weak on me, had no idea Le Labo Another 13 was a stronger DNA… I need to try it now.
I love this list! Have you tried Jo Malone vanilla and anise? It's so pretty, not a sweet vanilla but light and fresh. The anise makes it so bright with that lil hint on spice. It's my current go to- work/office appropriate scent

Arizona bloom is great stuff. Reminds me of being on a salty, breezy coconut island but it’s realistic and you’re among the coconut trees and smelling them

If you loved Coconut Fizz, you may also love Aphrodite by Soki London! I loved Coconut Fizz but find I like Aphrodite even more!
I love Another 13 is so versatile! It's so effortlessly sexy and clean. I even use it as a bed time fragrance! It may not be my top 1 signature scent but it's definitely in my top 10!
I just discovered Ulrich Lange's Lethe!! This perfume is such a nice your-skin-but-better scent. It's warm and cozy yet understated. It's got a soft muskiness, so it feels unisex to me. (Bergamot, lavender, vanilla, tonka, and water lily)This one is a such a sleeper hit!

I bought Sueded Oud after seeing you review it in a different video and I’m utterly obsessed. To my nose, the opening has a super unique, tangy, almost fizzy smell and I realized that it reminded me of this really specific kombucha I used to get at Whole Foods when I was in college! 😂

You should discuss performance in your reviews. It's possible to dislike Gypsy Water because it performs almost exactly zero for $$$. Can get a clone that performs far better for 90% cheaper.

Most of these sounds amazing, I will try any besides the ones described as unisex, I am not the pretty and petit woman so I always wear more feminine clothes, girly perfume and makeup. I hated than when I was 13 with short hair and baggy clothes people have me confused with a boy.
I am on that journey with Bal D’afrique!! 😂 I am 90% there to getting a full bottle. I’m currently testing a partial and to me, this is a vetiver herbal green scent. Everyone mentions the citrus but that comes across very light to me for some reason. Guess it’s true that everyone’s nose is so different!

I am so glad i found you. Your videos are so fun to watch. So I really want to get my hands on bal D'Afrique. I hope am not disappointed, sounds like my vibe. The hype can throw one off. I felt the same way when i got eau duelle and orchidee vanille. As a gourmond and vanilla lover, guess i was expecting to be blown outta this world but sadly didn't happen. Clean reserve rain is beautiful as is Banana Republic’s Neroli Woods and Vintage Green. Fresh crisp interesting fragrances.
By the way, during the Fall/Winter season I use Gipsy Water and when the weather gets warmer I fall in love with UN JARDIN APRES LA MOUSSON (Hermes) and PHILOSYKOS by Dyptique. Have you ever tried those?

Usually yes! But that’s not the vibe I get, luckily, I really dislike aldehydes 😅 but if the sun had a smell, I could see that as a note in this perfume 😝

Ha can any clean girl scents be STRONG?
Hi Anne! Here are some of my favourite 'clean' smelling fragrances as best-in-shows for certain types of 'clean':
1. Clean damp hair, as in, Herbal Essences on steroids, a watery fresh type of clean= Pivoine Suzhou by Armani Prive and Ramune by J-Scent. That one has sparkle AND a little sweetness with refreshing spearmint.
2. Clean fragranced bed linen in a giant marshmallow soft bed in a 5 star hotel in which you're also wearing freshly laundered fuzzy warm pyjamas: Yawahada by J-Scent, White by Puredistance and 'Messy Sexy Just Rolled Out of Bed' by A Lab On Fire/WWDIS. *Ah but wait-- The latter smells of the aforementioned 5 star hotel room clean bed smell mixed with a room service breakfast of salty butter on oven fresh croissants mixed with musky warm clean skin. 'White' is horribly expensive but a total masterpiece. It manages to smell as I described but won't give you the awful headaches which a lot of synthetic musks can.
3. The most expensive luxury bar of soap, your skin fresh out of the shower: Heritage by Fragrance du Bois.
4. Thirst-quenching orange juice vibes type of body shower gel: Akanesasu and Adameku by Di Ser.
There are many more offerings for each category, but my comments are famously, erm, voluminous so I'd better exercise some brevity and restraint now. 😊🤐

PS= The most elegant, beautifully done 'high end' clean smell is undoubtably 'White' by Puredistance. No synthetic musks to generate nausea-headaches. It's a masterpiece. I am in the mood for minty and citrus fragrances. I want to be seen as fresh new and energetic................I don't want a sweet (or floral) perfume. Just makes me seem easy to seduce for a man and women may think I am like them - underestimating

Don't like Arizona Bloom at all. All I can smell is a strong pencil shavings smell. Quite unpleasant.

Hi Anne, you should get 100 ml of Bal D’Afrique as you will want to overspray. I love this scent so much I purchased all the body care & hair perfume. I also didn’t think much at first but now I can’t be without it! 🤍
