Some pretty prominent skeptics interviewed her and… their consensus was that she was sincere but likely misidentified something and her memory of the encounter changed over time.
I found it funny how her story changed through the decades. Her husband gave one interview before he died and it was contradict by her. Her children have still yet to give any statements and actually gave the photo and it’s rights away. They wanted nothing to do with it. This is a case of a hoax that grew its own legs. She made money off this and it was all she had. It made her feel important and got her attention.
That’s what was always suspicious to me.The fact that there were 3 other people there when she took the photo but you never heard from them. I understand her kids were young but at some point you would think the kids would support their mother and corroborate her story but they never did because it was a lie. I never understood why in any interview she did that no interviewer brought that up to her.
I've heard her say that the encounter lasted 5 minutes, so I never understood why there was only one photograph taken, and always wish somebody would ask her that in an interview.
@@darreylhenderson702 I remember that she said in an documentary many years ago, that she wanted to take another picture but her husband grabbed her hands and pulled her from the shore of the lake, and she dropped the camera. Her husband was afraid for her safety. I don't claim that her story is true, but I saw that documentary on TV.
I have always thought that if there is some prehistoric life that survived the ice age, then it would have to be aquatic. And,this would probably prove the existence of lake monsters such as the Loch Ness monster,Chessie of Chesapeake Bay,Ogopogo or Champ of Lake Champlain. But,then again,it is the only personal theory I can think of…Karl Schumaker 😮
..she threw away the negatives... couldnt find the place where the photo was taken... her kids never came forward ... the thing swims right in front of them for 5 minutes ... when taken to the place to show where on the shoreline it took place they didnt even bother and used the days for vacation... the real question is, how could this woman sleep soundly perpetrating this lie for decades? Amazing what people will do for attention and fame.
See an inconsistency here. From other reports, she could not remember where on the lake she took the photo...yet, this video pinpoints to a fairly precise location given the lake body
Looks kinda like a seal rolling in the water with it's flipper in the air, belly exposed and a glimpse of it's head in front of the flipper. But who knows. I've heard her say that the encounter lasted 5 minutes, so I never understood why there was only one photograph taken, and always wish somebody would ask her that in an interview.
Looks like somebody swimming to me , right arm coming out of the water and if you look in front of the arm dark area looks like head about to come up for breath of air . But that’s my opinion . I hope it is real !

Yes you all heard right. She was simply looking for money and attention
I remember her saying she saw water coming out of the creature’s mouth.

champ is an unrecognized species of giant turtle 25-foot long turtle :)

No seals in lake Champlain
Just because the photo has not been tampered with, still does mean that it’s a photo of champ. It could be a log or anything
The narrator said her fiancé was named Tony. Not Anthony. No offense.
Tony is short for Anthony…
