In a professional career spanning more than half a century, CLAUDE GORDON has been a popular band leader, prominent network, studio, and recording artist, author of five trumpet methods, editor of the Arban studies, teacher and coach of many well known professionals.
Yet his most lasting contribution to Music may well be the boldly original design of this trumpet.
It is clearly the product of his long and varied career. Every professional wants a big, well centered sound at his command - wants the horn to fill the hall. The problem is filling such a horn - especially over many hours of playing. That is the problem solved by the innovative CLAUDE GORDON TRUMPET. With a bore of .470” it is one of the biggest available anywhere, with the volume, tone, and projection that implies. Yet its response and resistence are those of an artist’s medium-large bore instruments, and at 27 ounces with mouthpiece, it is also among the lightest.
After more than fifty years professional experience, CLAUDE GORDON has created a full-voiced trumpet that is not fatiguing to hold or play in the fast paced world of long rehearsals, concerts, and recording sessions. That is why a serious musician who has to be ready to play anything at any time will want to play it on an instrument just like this!!!

Le trombe Selmer CG (Selmer Claude Gordon) sono considerate tra i migliori fiati mai costruiti. Sono state completamente realizzate a mano in numero limitato nello stabilimento Vincent Bach tra l'inizio e la metà degli anni '80 e ora sono considerati oggetti da collezione. Queste trombe sono state modellate sulle migliori trombe francesi Besson Meha del passato, suonate da Claude Gordon, Conrad Gozzo, Rafael Mendez e altri grandi musicisti di quell'epoca. Si ritiene che, a causa del tempo extra impiegato per costruirle a mano, Bach/Selmer non abbia realizzato profitti su questi strumenti ed è per questo che hanno smesso di venderli dopo la morte di Claude Gordon. La tromba Selmer CG è unica in quanto possiede un suono pieno, potente e ben centrato, di grande proiezione, capace di riempire una sala, estremamente versatile tanto che può essere utilizzata per qualsiasi tipo di situazione esecutiva.
Il “leadpipe” è stato disegnato da Claude Gordon negli anni di fervida collaborazione con il famoso trombettista e costruttore Dominic Calicchio. I pistoni in Monel non corrosivi con molla superiore sono lappati a mano per un adattamento preciso e per un'azione veloce e leggera. Steli delle valvole in alluminio anodizzato oro. Guide valvole in metallo a due punte. I cappucci delle valvole si avvitano, non sopra gli involucri delle valvole, ma le filettature vulnerabili dell'involucro della valvola sono all'interno in modo da essere protette da eventuali danni.
E’ una grande tromba professionale, molto comoda da impugnare e molto ben fatta, che emette davvero un suono potente (quando ne hai bisogno!), meravigliosamente libero ma al tempo stesso controllabile ed incredibilmente versatile. Non così aperta come una Schilke X3, ma dà una sensazione più aperta di una Bach 37. Molto reattiva e flessibile, più leggera di una bach 37 ma in grado di suonare sorprendentemente “cupa e piena”!
