What are types of songs that they play for novice? I’m only comfortable with RnB, struggling with soulful music, are there other styles I need to practice.
Hey there, RnB and Blues are super common at WCS events. Here is an article on music styles you're likely to encounter in WCS! www.westcoastswingonline.com/west-coast-swing-musicality-music-styles/ If you haven't yet, you'll want to sign up for our "Move of the Week" It's totally free and you'll have direct access to us via email www.westcoastswingonline.com/free-wcs-videos
Just competed newcomer, after being coached in the same three tips you taught here- especially timing. But, perhaps focused too much on calming nervous partners during the actual event and I guess forgot my basics. Further, other "newcomers" were using some novice and intermediate patterns and flashier footwork derived from long experience in other styles; needless to say I did not get a call back. Disappointed me for about 2 weeks, but I appreciate your video and it encourages me to try again.
Hi Ron, Thanks for sharing your story. Don't be disappointed! There will be competitions that go well, and others that don't. It's not a reflection on you as a person (or even as a dancer sometimes lol) Trust your coach, keep getting better. The placements will come but the real value is in the journey. If there is anything we can ever do let us know. Best wishes, Brian
+passgar I'm working at it! Its quite a bit of work to get these videos out every week. We've come a long way from our first versions... They will get better i promise. -BB

Why do many of your videos have Right Audio and not balanced audio? Could you please try to fix your recordings? Thank you! Great tips and videos! :)
