Man I'm in tears watching this. I felt something similar watching Terry Jones fade away. Deadwood is my favorite show of all time. David Milch is a genius.

Best-written show in television history, IMO. Only perhaps Mad Men comes close.

David, thank you, I can't express how much Deadwood inspired me in the attempt to improve my writing. Any amount of success I've had is in large part because of you and your work.

David is one of those people who I love deeply despite never having met. His work is just that important to me. This made me want to cry... It's so tragic to see him in this condition compared to how dynamic and youthful he was in interviews on the set of Deadwood, etc. But I'm glad he still has days ahead of him, days of happiness despite the darkness. True Detective Season 3 which he co-wrote was a really moving portrayal of what it's like to have Alzheimers and watching it recently made me think of him. I could hear his inimitable voice in some of that season's dialogue. It's great he managed to make the Deadwood movie as well despite his condition. He's a genius and will be missed greatly when he passes.

huge fan of Deadwood, will go down as one of the greatest tv shows in history. He elevated so many actors and actresses with his writing. I work in the ALZ industry and it's a very unpredictable journey. He has a strong family that will be with him every step of the way.

I was and am so sorry to hear of this brilliant man's illness, and am now again amazed that his creativity is not vanquished.
David Milch is the very first screenwriter who I HAD to learn more about. It's a pitiful thing that the general population is better guided to appreciate the artists without whom we would not have incredible entertainment.
Milch opened an entire avenue of appreciation to me.
Hail, Hail, creator of coksukn worlds!

Great memoir, A Life's Work. Quite a complicated man who self sabotaged himself in so many ways.
The book is great not just as an autobiography, but also as intro to screenwriting. He has some useful lessons for anyone who wants to write.

Amazing, it's hard to put our loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer's in the public light. The worst part of many diseases is how ashamed we are of being the victim of the disease or being a caregiver. We need to be more open with each other. This is human suffering. Open this up to all of us. I saw my grandma suffer through this and am terrified of seeing it happen to my dad, my brother or myself or even my daughter one day. Families should not suffer in silence. The more we witness each other's suffering, the more we will be willing to do what we need to do to help all of humanity. Let's help each other, we're all we got

I lost my father to this disease. His descent was mercifully quite gentle and gradual until almost immediately before his passing.
It seems Mr Milch is dealing with the disease in much the same way, thankfully. I hadn't been aware he was suffering from AD. For his family's sake, I hope they are enjoying the time he's got left with them for as long as his faculties allow. And once those faculties are gone, I hope the end is swift and gentle.
Thank you for decades of wonderful entertainment, Mr Milch.

To impede this man’s ability to create the amazing dialogues he’s responsible for is to silence a modern day Shakespeare. A true tragedy.

I am on page 72 of his book and I can say that he is very very lucky to have lived through his escapades and even more so that his wife Rita stayed with him and was the key person who put their life back together after he had squanered away his fortune and I can say that to my knowledge very few women would have stayed

David, my friend, I’m so grateful for your friendship over the years. Lmk if you wanna do one more feature. I’ve seen a few scripts lately which you might find “interesting”. You and Rita are always invited to our place in Newport 👍🏻🌎💯⚡️🙏🏻, posit this, if you will....Deadwood meets Leaving Las Vegas...with an alternative happy ending.
