Also only use 2K clear on your gas tank, otherwise you will get a nasty surprise if you ever spill gas on it with regular clear, it will just melt. 2K is a must.
It is worth mentioning, you always want to use compatible paints, primers and clears. Definitely use automotive quality 2K paints/clears to stand up to fuels and oils. NEVER use cheap rattle can enamels or you will find your paint job dripping on the pavement the first time you spill gas down the tank. ANOTHER TIP: You guys can extend the life of activated 2K spray paint for up to six months if you simply refrigerate it! I have a can of spray max 2K in a plastic baggie sitting in my fridge door for 3 months now. At $24 bucks a can...you may as well extend the life of it!
Everything was pretty good budget paint job BUT spot putty is definitely not made to be used in that way. Just a heads up for anyone attempting this. You need to use a proper 2 part glaze or body filler for low spots or waves. Keep the spot putty for chips or tiny scratches and that’s about it
The most impressive tool I saw here was the barstool. Ingenious use of your environment to keep you from having to constantly move around the tank.
I really appreciate how you tell us WHAT GRIT you are using every time and how much time you are waiting between coats of either puddy or paint. You would be surprised to see how many videos they are sloppy about this, and we end up not knowing what the heck they did. Thank you.
Awesome job
Looks good.
You forgot to clear coat the underside! Huge mistake, if You want to preserve that part of the paint as well. Other than that, this was a nice video showing the process.
Love the shirt
Great video. How much chrome do you remove from the fender and what do you use?
Bar stool as a painting platform. Another reason to love bar stools ;)
Really like that you took the time to walk through all the materials at the start.
Glad I'm not the only one using rattle cans and 2k clear for motorcycles.
Thoroughly enjoy watching your vids! What an excellent result
Great tutorial Taylor! There's something seriously theraputic about watching a really good spray job.
Great informative video. Beautiful color and quality work. You make it look easy!
nice bar stool usage too, cheap and easy! Thanks for posting this Taylor
I allways enjoy watching your work, this is a tutorial I am not intimidated to give it a go. 👍👏🔥
This is seriously the most detailed and descriptive video on painting I've seen! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge so well!
Great job, beautiful. I've been wanting to paint my Cb550k tank and your video gave me some very good tips. Thanks. 👍👍🇨🇦
