Great scene as there are many in this great movie. But my favorite scene is the bio scene of him playing in earlier in his playing games. and the best is when despite all his anger about stump he decides to let him write the book anyway. Accepting that greatness is not a sin.
The real ty cobb was not like this at all. He actually advocated for black players to be allowed to play in the majors.... he also played against blacks in Cuba during the off season.... he was a great man
Lets be real he was a dude born in the 1880s in georgia he definitely was racist at some level, but nowhere near as utterly dedamged about it as al stump claimed. He was an incredibly weird guy who definitely did have his dark side, just not the cartoon villain stump created@dutchplanderlinde8883
no he wasn't all that racist bullshit was written by a author who wrote a book on cobb and it wasnt selling well so he added a bunch of made up bs to it revised it and hoped it would sell better. Was Cobb well liked by his teammates not really and probbaly was a dick but all that extra bs about being a racist and sharpening his cleats to spike players is lies.
@@marcelmiller7551 Well, cupcake, personal opinions prove nothing. You are entitled to your own opinions but you are NOT entitled to tell anybody else what their opinions must be. Mark Twain was right. "No amount of evidence can persuade an idiot."
Blacks are as racist as they come. But I respect them anyway if they are truthful. Cobb was a product of his environment. I would put Pete Rose in his class for the LOVE OF THE GAME
you are right Cobb was a product of his environment, his parents were known abolitionist and were very much against slavery and harsh treatment of black his dad was even know to stop lynch mobs. That nonsense you hear about cobb being a raging racist is lies, it was started in a autobiography on cobb and the authors book wasnt selling well so he added stories about cobb attacking black folks two being at a hotel in Detroit and when it was actually researched it was two white men he attacked, infact Cobb is on record advovating for blacks to be allowed to play baseball with whites, he even threw out the first pitch in anew Negro leauge ball park. He even said the only player he even pay to see was Willie Mays
Tommy Lee Jones is so underrated, he's a fabulous actor.
Agreed
I agree 💯.
"He could throw a pork chop past a wolf." LOL!
Love this movie
This is my favorite scene in COBB. This was totally ad libbing the way Mr. Jones and Mr. Wuhl were laughing.
Great scene as there are many in this great movie.

I use that line whenever I get a chance

It doesn't fit the narrative of all old whitey baseball players as racist.
@@HighwayStar71 yeah and thats the problem I have when they falsify people like this... very disrespectful
wasn't that hard to be racist in the 70s lol I dont know why its hard to believe he was racist at the time or at all

Tommy Lee Jones was hilarious in Cobb.
A good movie but would rather see a biopic about his career.
Jones played a great Cobb.
Mr Cobbs with that hesitation pitch ole Satchel would have you battin 220 and kissin his black ass, I loved it when Willie said that.
Demais
Great movie but in real life, Ty Cobb was far worse than what's depicted in the movie.

Driving Too Much
This movie is full of lies. Cobb was no racist he said he would pay money see Willie Mays play
WRONG ! Ty Cobb was totally a racist and used the "N" word quite often. He even used it when describing any fans that disliked him.
