- Hey fellow classic rockers! Today we're gonna show you how to play the Cheap Trick classic Dream Police from their album of the same name. This one's loads of fun! Hope you enjoy.
Cheers, KDA
Unfortunately this one got hit with copyright (must have played it just a bit to close), so no money for me, haha. Oh well. A "Super Thanks" or Paypal donation is much appreciated if you enjoyed the tutorial and found it helpful.
Paypal tip jar if you're so inclined paypal.me/kell...
support for my channel on Patreon is always greatly appreciated as well. / kellydeanallen
What a great job of showing how Rick plays this song...I'm not ashamed to say but this 70 year old still plays classic rock guitar and I will be be practicing this tune today...Thanks Kelly.
Very cool. I don't think many people think of Cheap Trick as being very intricate in their song writing and considered them more basic pop rock music. Some songs fall into this category for sure but being a long time fan, (and guitar player myself) I knew better and have always marveled at how easy Rick Nielsen makes playing this stuff look when playing live!
Totally agree!
My band TRIED to cover California Man. We could never get it sounding right...
I always liked the laugh in the middle of the song: “They’re the judge and jury, all in one MWAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA”
FINALLY, somebody to replace the long lost James James! Thank you!
@@TheProgrammerGuy loved that guy! Wonder what he looked like, haha.
When this album came out I had just got my first nice car, a 10 year old V8 1969 Cougar convertible.
Dream Police was one of dozen cassettes on rotation out cruising around.
incredible. and yes i echo "more Cheap Trick". like off their Budokon album "need your love" or "Aint that a shame". thanks for all you do!!
Always loved this song. Played the hell out of it on cassette in a 68 Shelby I had when this was released.
Awesome. Brings back memories. Now I have to pick up my guitar it's waiting for me.
Thanks for the lesson Kelly. Great song.
The first time I saw Cheap Trick was on that particular tour....great show! Great lesson, many thanks!
That was fantastic. I've seen a lot of bad tab versions of that song, and none of them ever sounded quite right. You cleared up for me how actually to play that song. Thanks, man!
I haven't checked out your stuff in a while. Nicely done Kelly! I commented a while back on the great job you did on Al di meola's race with the devil.
I never studied Rick Nielsen's guitar chords much up until just a few years ago and really love the inversions he does,, the things he does by adding different bass notes to the chords.. I first came across this when I was working up , I want you to want me a few years back with my band.. oh also , wanted to add all the hauntingly cool creative guitar riff melodies he puts in here.. again, good job with all your lessons!👍🎸🐦
Love that song reminds me of the coke era good times for sure
Love the guitar intracacies of 70s rock. So many bands stretching the I-IV-V envelope. Nothing like augmented 5ths to build tension!!!
I was 13 years old in 1979 and was transfixed by this song.
I was 15 and loved the album and the song.
Another awesome lesson! Let's get some Canadian content - *please* do "Heavy Mental Breakdown" and "Drifter" by the Killer Dwarfs.
Thanks for posting this!
More cheap trick please . They also had a lot of great songs for movie soundtracks like the song REACH OUT . Great band .
This is your best one yet!!!! Love it KDA
Fantastic. Been a lifelong fan even through the lesser know Next position Please-All Shook Up years.
Thanks! Going to see them in a couple weeks. First time was in 78
We are all a little older now😂

That chorus is amazing also. What a unique and catchy riff

@CAP21 cheers mate, thanks!
Thank you for your content
Another GREAT lesson!! Thank you so much. How about Cheap Tricks 'Taxman, Mr. Thief'? Listen to them play it on Daryl Hall's 'Live From Daryl's House'. They rock it!!
Another home run here folks. Just a fantastic tutorial once again ♪♫♪♫♪♫
Nice Job. I've never been able to figure that last part out. 🙂👍
@MARK-r6c3k yeah, was tough picking it apart because of all the orchestration going on.
@KellyDeanAllenGuitar ya no kidding. You did it though. 👏
Excellent!
Awesome! Thanks a lot man!
Nice one!
That ending is crazy 🤪
Awesome
To think the label wanted to get rid of Rick and Carlos for not being pretty enough!
I dont know if i would consider that a solo
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner…. Can you read my mind ??? Thanks.
