    Hugely popular in the Midwest of the United States back in the day, and it still gets some play on occasion.
    Great timing on this lesson and topic as I re-watched the movie Vision Quest just a couple of weeks ago for the first time since the 1980s.

    Got a lot of airplay back in the 80's on the "rock" station I picked up out of Pittsburgh, even before Tom Cochrane had his mainstream hit "Life is a Highway". Love this song.

    NIce background and lesson Kelly - this has always been my favourite Red Rider song. Such a great riff and all those different chord progressions sound so wonderful. Really like your take on that slide solo too! Bookmarking this one for future study and practice. BTW, congrats on hitting the 40K mark! ☺ 🐸

      Thanks man! Been a long slog to 40,000 haha. 5 years. But we're picking up steam lately. A few videos (one that's 2 years old) have gone somewhat viral and have boosted my channel significantly over the past 2 months. This keeps up we'll hit that hundred thou number next year I hope.

    I was born in canada to us parents in military and raised in S C USA but this song was a big hit through my teen years and have always loved it esp the break down and lead , it brings back great memories and fun as hell to play , thank you for reminding me of a great song

    Excellent video thank you so much for doing it. I've been searching for a lesson on this tune for a while and could never find one that sounded and felt good. I was a high school wrestler in the '90s and this song was on The vision quest movie soundtrack. I know I've listened to this song over a thousand times.

    Thanks KDA! I heard this on "Miami Vice" back in the 80s and it always haunted me for years until I found out what it was and got hold of a copy. Now I'm well on the way to playing it. Simple enough, but lots of practice required to get the smoothness and flow down properly. Great lesson sir! Really enjoying your channel.

    Just a minor correction on the ending. At 4 minutes and 11 seconds on the recording he hits the first chord four times instead of two. He does that just the one time.

    I saw one of your videos a few years back about you modding your Donner DST and I have the exact same guitar and am looking to start modding it aswell. I was wondering where you found that black pickguard that fit the guitar perfectly since I dont know wether the fender stratocaster ones online could fit mine?
