    Bought an older 48" cut, used, some years ago. It started not going forward. Found the idler spindle frozen to the idler arm for the drive belt. Disassembled, cleaned and reamed out the idler arm hole to .001" over. Lubed, reassembled and no more problems.

      Yea, I wish I didn't have to buy 2 new transmissions to figure that out. Oh well, that's why I did the video so no one does the same thing I did. Thanks for the comment

      I’ve been using mine like a commercial mower for 2 years now…added the extra spring and the mower is better than new…if I bought a new one I would definitely add the extra spring immediately.

    Sounds like applying spray on belt dressing to the belts (which is very sticky and increases the grip) would be just as effective and a lot cheaper. I do that to my ride on mower as a matter of course.

      thats possible it could work for some but in my case, when the wire was ran over either the belt stretched or the spring did. but the springs are like $3 or something like that. But hey give that a shot first, if not then try my way out. thanks for the comment

    Did you remove, clean, and grease the pivot bolt the spring is mounted to? At 270 hr, mine was frozen. The pulley was unable to pivot resulting in slippage.

      I would give it a shot, it's a drive spring I believe and they are like $8. It worked for me and it may for you too. But if not it's $8( not a big loss, verses buying transmissions and find out it's a spring, start small). Hope that helps

    That was painful to hear. Sorry man. We have all pissed money away working on cars mowers excetra. Could you not had found a zero turn with a bad deck or motor. Most all of these type of mowers only use a couple different size drives. Most are all made by MTD.
    Not to rub it in but I bought this mower in a 2 blade 46 used that said needs belt and battery sold as is. it was at a local farm center. So I told him if I bought a battery and it starts and moves I will take it. I knew getting the deck going was going to be not near as expensive as a drive. It started right up and I look at the hour meter and it said 4.5 hours. Some dude bought it new and hit something it broke a spindle bent a blade and then it would never restart. It was new so he took it back and they sent it to a local repair shop to fix the motor. I guess the sudden dead stop sheard the key shaft on the flywheel and it was out of time. So the fix it but they kept it all winter before getting to it. They kept it outside. A new mower just left it in the rain and snow for about six months. The nex spring the dude was ready to get his mower back and when they pulled it around and it was weathered he said I am not taking that it was brand new. SO some how the gave him a new mower and this one was suppose to went back on warranty but never did. So 2 years later the farm center manager just wanted it gone and put it out front with a sign. $200 As is need blade belt and battery. So I grabbed it up lightning fast. I had to put a spindle on it and new blades but the belt was good but the tension spring was missing. So I got a almost new 2021 z246 for less than $350.

    I've had very similar problems with my Zero turn Husqvarna. The right side often barely works. Seems OK for the first 10 minutes or so. Local dealer said sometimes air gets into the hydraulics!
    Thanks for this info re the spring. It has been missing badly so yesterday I took the fuel tank off and drained it and checked the line to the engine. Lo and behold it had clogged with dust etc that had gotten into the fuel tank.

    What year model is it? I thought they had 3 year bumbper to bumper warranty? Just having a problem understanding why you would have thought the trannys went out at 400 hours?

    • @investinurself3445
      @investinurself3445  11 месяцев назад

      It's a 2019 model it did have the 36 month warranty. It would have been right at the threshold. After my wife got ahold of it and fixing what carnage was done the warranty was up. And after all of that was fixed is when I found out the trans wasn't working properly. And after the rebuilds and all the time and buying new ones is when I realized it was just the spring for the tensioner. Added an extra one and boom it's fixed. Thanks for the comment

    Check your spindles to make sure they are straight and not bent and the blades. both of these will cause vibration .

    • @investinurself3445
      @investinurself3445  Год назад +1

      Thanks and you are correct. When it was vibrating and after a few springs later. I found out that when my wife ran over the fencing/wire the belt had melted a pulley so it wasn't balanced. I replaced the pulley and others and the vibration stopped. However the left transmission didn't want to work properly. So I rebuilt it (nothing changed), so I bought 2 new transmissions (replaced and still no change) and then after many videos I noticed people had 2 springs on the tensioner pulley, so that's what I did and now it runs great again. I just want everyone to know not to make the same mistake I did, waste $1500 when all it was was a $3 spring I needed to add.

    • @investinurself3445
      @investinurself3445  11 месяцев назад

      The extra spring is to put more tension on the pulley so the drive belt doesn't slip. It was after I had it for a couple years before it had that issue ( which you may never have). I only had the issue after I fixed some things on it after my wife ran over wire fence and messed it up.... hope that helps. Thanks for the comment.
      I have a link in the description below for it.

    Hey man you you have your drive belt tension pulley and spring going on the wrong side . You had drive problems because of a drive belt is worn and is not in the right position. Look back at your light kit video it shows pulley going to right side. Replace drive belt and fix belt placement it will work better. You are not alone in doing this. I have fixed many others that did the same thing.

    • @Nonplused
      @Nonplused Месяц назад

      Husqvarna uses Turbo-Gear transmissions, which are on many mower brands, so you need to check which transmissions you have if you think that was the problem. Not very many manufacturers make their own engines or transmissions.

    • @investinurself3445

      Sorry you had that issue, hopefully it wasn't someone just trying to make money off of you. Like I said I thought it was the transmissions and turned out I just need more pressure on the tensioner pulley and all was good. But as above those transmissions are in quite a few zero turns like cub cadet and I bought my transmissions for $900 each and that was after I rebuilt them and thought I had messed them up. I didn't and I bought new transmissions for no reason which is why I did this video.

      @investinurself3445 that's heavy right on man. I picked up a 46" it's got the Briggs/husky engine which is OK. Would have preferred a kawi or even Kohler. The reason I was trolling ye is because I'm experiencing some issues with the steering arms- right one is finicky and doesn't seem to have the radius or smooth movements that the left one does. Also the throttle after running it for a while if you try to throttle down before shutting it off it doesn't drop revs. Any advice? I'm going to go through what you're talking about in your video.

    • @investinurself3445
      @investinurself3445  Месяц назад

      @ProteusOmnipotens-ov8oo I'm not sure if it was new or used but I would assume used or it has some time ran, as for the throttle I would say that sounds like the carb needs cleaned or the wire that adjust the throttle needs adjusted. For the arm being kinda weird I couldn't really tell you. Could just need some lube on something or even the joint is bent to some degree, that would need some more looking into. Hopefully this helps to some degree and sorry I can't be more helpful but without it being in front of me it's hard to say.
