My detent was a bit too strong but eventually broke in really well. It's still a load of crap that I had to clip it for months to get it working well. If the tool was available, I could have dialed it in in about five minutes. Love the knife (one of my most carried) but the lack of a tool (delayed for MONTHS now) is infuriating.

You are right again. Weak detents suck! Not just because it makes the knife a bad flipper but also because it makes the knife open by itself inside the pocket which is very dangerous.
I got two of these initially. One had a slightly too strong detent; the other’s was weak. I returned the weak one. Now the one I kept seems perfect. I love the knife. Really easy to carry for a fairly long blade.
MXG Gear makes a deep carry bronze clip that matches PERFECTLY.
Slicey Dicey I got their plain color clip because I like the contrast, but I agree it works great on the 0609 for deep carry.

The Hinderer xnm-18, I just bought from you , also has a very weak detent. Hinderer told me you have to add pressure & preload it. I don't understand why they're like that...when the cheapest chineese knives don't do that! I agree with you Lee.

Great video! It's an awesome EDC blade, but you either love it or hate. I'm thinking about getting the deep carry pocket clip from MXG Gear.
I have the same problem with mine as well. I sent mine back to zt, only to have it come back worse then when it left me. Im sending it back in again. I have gone to 2 other stores to see about getting another one, and tried 3 different ones and was disappointed. They were better then mine, but not great. Also mine had a gap at the stop pin, and one of the ones at the store was the same way, suggesting that the washers are too thick and the handle scales are not able to close all the way together.
Mine had a strong detent. I sold it because of the tool issue.

I am a huge ZT fan, but their 2018 Slim Fast releases... I just can't warm up to them. Also, for $220 there better darn well be a tool for the "proprietary" pivot. I have Kershaws with better detent...C'mon ZT... thanks for the show and tell!

LTK- I handle Slicey's 609 and it had a strong detent. I've heard that some of the ZT 0095TS have a good detent also. Sounds like ZT is having some QC issues with their detents.
Wow, I’m surprised the detent is so weak. My 609 is like lightning. The detent is so strong on it. Same with my 0562cf.

I have a ZT 0393.. It seems to flip better then your 609's but I can still make it fail with an easy light switch.. It really does better with a push button.. But, the knife won't shake out easy..It might if I really tried hard..I hate flippers anyway and this is part of the reason.. Out of about 70 knives, I might have 3 flippers..My old 0562 would just fire out with the lightest preassure on the flipper tab.. I think ZT was making some knives with too strong of a detent and know they are trying to lighten them up...

You're right. Great knife, but a lot of resistance in the action.
Should of came with deep pocket clip... but this has been the best EDC knife ever for me.
I cant believe so many people cannot figure out how to open this knife. Man, a knife is a serious tool for a man that cannot figure that out. I'm mechanically inclined but come on....it took me 5 seconds to ponder that out.
Would you prefer the 0804cf that you reviewed over this?

Very weird. My detent was super strong. I found the flipper tab to be very uncomfortable and awkward. Sold it
So if you wanna tighten the pivot screw it looks like your really gonna struggle,for a knife of this price point and to use a pivot that needs a specialist tool and for them not to include one with the knife is an absolute deal breaker for me,ii was seriously thinking of buying this knife up until the pivot screw was discussed.

...have the LE ZT0609BLK..all black hardware/blade ...in S35VN....added MXG deep carry black Ti clip...'zero issues'...I was told that the tool should be out mid-august...we'll see :-) ...have a great week....
Oh No ! That deployment is a total turn-off for me, especially in a costly knife. I like a detent that is a wrist breaker.
The kizer costs $6 to make in that god forsaken Commy country - spend more for the USA every time!

Well American made knives are horrible. The tolerances are way of. They dont use the metric system. And thats the reason they are not abel to produce precise knives or goods.
