You are so right about the king of tone. It’s a certain flavour that comes back in all three settings. I’ve seen a few of disappointed people who bought one and expected an allround pedal. But man, I loved mine as soon as I adjusted the dip switches and treble settings to my taste on the inside. Does it sound better than my Seymour Duncan sfx-11? No. Just very different and it fits on a smaller board.

Thanks for this review! it is extremely valuable. I went ahead and got myself on the KoT waiting list about 2 years ago, because it seems like a great pedal and it doesn't cost anything to be on the waiting list. As long as I have the money at the time to buy it when my turn arrives and as long as I am alert enough to see their notification so I can respond in time, I am hopeful of getting one of them. However, it is extremely interesting that there is an alternative that sounds good and can cover similar tonal territory. Since I don't yet have any sort of "Bluesbreaker" style pedal, I think one of these Wampler pedals is in my future. It doesn't matter too much to me that I don't have a reference point for dialing the Pantheon into the closest possible approximation to the KoT sound, since I will tweak whatever I have until I get a sound I like. It's more important to know that good sounds are in there to be found.
There is KoT "knockoff" that nails some of the KoT's sounds. It is called the King of Blues, and That Pedal Show did a video featuring it alongside the KoT. You can pick one up to fill in for your King of Tone while you await its arrival.

Like many said before: 4 Jack option is available for KoT is available, also higher gain mod for each side. You can also order a toggle for switching gain stages for red side on the outside (normally done via dip switches). I personally like your two cents very much. I waited for the King of tone and had a clone shortly before. It might all be in my head, but for me the mid frequencys are not like the original. And I love those with every guitar I have. But of course no one will hear the difference live (probably most will not be a le to tell the difference in a blindfold test) if you dial in another bluesbreaker style to match the tone. For me personally not having to try and dial in to copy that sound I get from the King of Tone in a heartbeat, and nearly in every setting is what makes me prefer the King of Tone. It is also why I chose a Strymon Timeline over a Boss DD500. Just cause I get the sounds I want faster and more easy. But that is just me. Other people get sounds I really love out of other pedals. Other people will get the sounds I get from the timeline or the KoT from other pedals. Maybe Boss DD20, line6 dl4 or whatever. Maybe a Pantheon, maybe a 68pedals King of clone or whatever. Surely it is a matter of what sound do I want and how do I accomplish it in a way that fits me. I have both and pantheon blows the kot out of the water anytime though its subjective to the player - the forward for my direction are the golden boy & broken arrow
Curious if you could do KoT (or Wampler) vs Browne amplification Protein pedal? Btw I also turn down the presence completely on the Wampler as its useless, but pedal sounds great otherwise, the switches would be difficult to change live, but i just keep them where they sound best imo.
Just sold my KOT today that I never even plugged in (I had 2, sold both). Will I regret it? Yes almost certainly, however i don't actually play electric guitar (acoustic only) any more and my studio needed something new. They do sound great but nothing you can't get from other pedals for normal money. To be fair the KOT is normal money if you buy new, it's just over 4 years to wait.
I can buy the Pantheon Deluxe, and even adding in the cost of the Prince of Tone that I have, I come out on top financially vs. buying a KoT--and I don't have to wait three years. I love all the cork-sniffing B.S. from the KoT owners here, though...lol
I honestly don't understand the "insanity" of putting yourself on a wait list. You just send an email and then in a few years, you get an email and can decide if you want to buy one. I got my KoT about 6 months ago after 3.5 years. That 3.5 years would have gone by the same way regardless of my being on a wight list. Now I have a pedal I love that I can sell for $800-$900 in a pinch. Just got on the wait list people. It takes 2 seconds.
You certainly have a point… After I found “THE” clone that overshadowed my KOT, I sold the original and couldn’t believe that it sold easily for $850!!! Honestly. Yes, it was mint and It wasn’t even listed for more than 2 days! The clone I replaced it with sounds identical and has the “mods” that most look for too. I’m happier with the clone than I ever was with the original. (Original is good, but clone has more features Don’t always fall for the hype. There’s other pedals that are just as good, or even the same, but better! Best! ✌🏼
I went for the clone KOT. In fact, I bought 2 of 'em one for two different setups! I e still got the dudes contact info although he's in China. But my first kot got lost in the mail he responded in one day and sent me out another one immediately and that's why I bought a third so I can have two and two different setups.. So I ended up buying two of those and I also bought a duelist as well and I got to tell you all those pedals look identical to the much more expensive ones and have the same features if not more I can find that contact for the guy in China if you want he's very solid has many positive reviews guy makes amazing pedals too
Prince of Tone (POT), sells on their website for $149. Analogman (AG) sells a few on their website each week. The 1st attempt all were gone in less than a minute. 2nd attempt put it in my cart in 1 SECOND, 2 SECONDS later I hit the purchase button and it was not available. In an email from Amy @ AG an email, I was told that purchases can be stolen out of my AG cart, which forced me to cancel my credit card. I then looked on Reverb 10-15 minutes later and there was a new one for $360. It appears that AG is evolved in dishonesty to jack up the price of their products. Watch the reviews, Wampler Pantheon can sound like KOT @ less than 1/4 of price.
I thought I would also add that I emailed AG after my 1st attempt at purchasing the POT, and was told by Amy @ AG in an email that once you have an item in your cart it’s yours. After 2nd attempt in another email from Amy, she also told me that many that day got POT’s, but JUST NOT YOU. That means that in less than a second all of them went including stealing the one in my cart. Just not possible. I felt that the passive aggressive hostility from Amy was uncalled for, and appeared that they knew that they were just caught. Greed is an affliction of the ignorant, which pays back negative karma. Just wanted you to know that after watching your video on the Panthon Deluxe I purchased one, to add to my Catapult and DB+. It’s incredible. I like the way you are straightforward, and don’t sugar coat your reviews. 👍
Amok Intro. Unglaublich GUT!
So I’ve just started my dive into these pedals. I’m always late to the party! Seems like to me you can get pretty darn close to the KOT sound with the Pantheon. You cannot get the Pantheon sound from the KOT. The KOT is a bit fatter rounder low mid heavy with an immediate attack on the note. The Pantheon is brighter sparklier with a similar attack to the note. That’s what I heard anyway.
I really wish the switches to turn on and off were closer, sometimes I want to go into a solo on Channel 2 but need to switch off Channel 1 real quick, but dont have time to before the solo starts so its too much gain to have both on at same time. I know I can dial back the gain on both and stack them, but I dont like the muddiness of stacked sound. Any solutions for quick simultaneous switching of one on and one off?
Sounds like there is already compression on the clean, not sure if it is in the overall audio or the amps. Hard to to discern. Otherwise both sound good,
I wouldn't change my KoT for a Pantheon not only because I waited a long time to get it but also because it's great to have something that is not mass manufactured. Also, it's a great overdrive!
KOT is smoother and rounded has Allman bros in it ,, pantheon has this metallic sound to it, KOT is something else I'm lucky to have a KOT I had 100s of OD myn#1 is the KOT ,. When you have a kot, it's so good, it's hard to find an overdrive to stack with , when you turn on another overdrive with the kot it ruins the kot , the only thing that I found that's it stacks well with it is a tube screamer... '
The KOT is a great pedal, no doubt, but it is hyped beyond belief. For my taste there are better sounding pedals out there, the Pantheon is one of them. That said, I am not going for mid heavy overdriven hard rock tones, but dynamic top-endy amp like break-up tones without too much fuzziness. I love the classic Blues Breaker (pedal) sound.
I hear you. When you A/B test guitars, amps, whatever, THEN you really see/hear the differences. (On the other hand, sometimes, ignorance is bliss, ha.)
Being on a waitlist for 4 to 5 years just for an overdrive pedal is fucking ridiculous. Ya sure, it sounds good but by the time you get it you will have already moved on to making rap music.
I have a KoT, not the other. Is the the KoT worth the wait, simple answers is yes because waiting doesn't cost anything. If you have a mild inclination that you may want one go on the list, that's what I did. Is the KoT worth the price, retail price absolutely it is a fantastic pedal, use price? I don't think so, 1000 for any overdrive pedal is silly you could buy 5-10 great pedals for that. I got one because I knew it would fit my main sound and play style and I want something that was hard to get with out paying silly prices, so I'm glade I have it
well, the wampler is probably more versetile , the j h s morning glory is my favorite ,its great stacked or just leave on.Is the K O T worth the wait ?Maybe if your convenced thats the only pedal for you.But is it worth the money? na. hell no!
Actually, it is not just an OD with volume-gain-tone. King of Tone offers in each side deep switches for > clean boost - OD - distortion < not sure if it has less possibilities
@17:57 - the yellow side of the KoT is designed as a boost! It therefore has much lower gain in tap. If you want gain, you use the red side. Want more gain, use both sides! And actually, comparing the left side of the KoT to the left side of the Pantheon, and the right side of the KoT to the right side of the Pantheon makes no sense whatsoever, as they are designed/set different…
The differences are clearly audible. KOT is darker. The brightness in the Pantheon is welcome for me but not very flattering sounding. Still, I like not being limited in how clear I can make my guitar sound - and pantheon doesn’t have that limit.
I just purchased a Dual Pantheon and I think it is absolutely sterling!!!!! I’m not trying to get into combat with you here, but I have to tell you that you do not give the Dual Pantheon justice here. I find your demo anemic. I get that Dual Pantheon screaming with tonal ecstasy. Anything I throw at it, it just delivers in spades. You should really go back to the drawing board and learn how to use it.
@@EytschPi42 Why do you want to turn the Dual Pantheon into a piera k? The Dual Pantheon has so much more to offer. Hey, whatever floats your boat. I’ve been playing my Dual Pantheon and it blows me away every time I fire it up. I also have a Gear Box and that pedal is awesome as well.
You barely scratched the surface of both pedals. I think you could have at least explored how they react with the volume knob of the guitar, let alone with a few different guitar/pickup types and high and low headroom amps. If you don't do that, it always leads to a "I don't know, it depends, but it doesn't matter..." conclusion. In the end you have to check these pedals with your own equipment in your own personal environment.
ANY difference that might be there (there isn't) is completely irrelevant in any actual musical context. Live this will never be felt or heard by the guitarist or the audience and in any mix it will also not matter. Can you detect a different in an isolated environment? Maybe you can... I can't. BUT once you actually make music it really really really doesn't matter.
@@EytschPi42 yes when I watched more I saw you were demoing the pedal . The first part of the video was a lot of delay ….my apologies. One thing I noticed was a bit of buzz and maybe more noticeable with the KOT pedal . Is the COT Church of Tone Lovepedal supposed to emulate the KOT ? As a matter of fact I’ve never heard of the KOT pedal .
I am sure most who say the pantheon is better have never played a KOT. These types of comparisons are fun but your ears are tricked. Much like buying a TV at best buy based on which one is "brightest." I have owned a KOT for years and it is the core of my tone there is nothing else that compares. However, for the higher gainy/compressed thing that you get attracted to in the panth, many pedals do that.
Hilarious! Put down the kool-aid. I work in live audio and have had the pleasure of working with some of the best guitarists on the planet. I see more blues drivers and tubescreamers than expensive boutique pedals because guess what… in the hands of a talented player, it doesn’t matter. The $3k guitar doesn’t sound any better than the MiM Fender. I see more Fender Deluxes than any boutique amp. And pedal boards of all kinds of variations. More expensive doesn’t necessarily sound better. And by the time you out a mic on it, the audio engineer tweaks it, and it goes through the PA into whatever room, no one can tell a difference. Can a learned ear tell a difference when A/Bing? Sure… sometimes. Does it really matter? Not really if the user knows what he/she is doing and has a solid rig. Snobs are hilarious.
@@jasonpickering4980 Josh Scott just did a video for Sweetwater about his pedalboard. He agrees with you. He thought nuances were meaningless. Don Carr said nuances are for the player. I think there is a great deal of truth to that. Especially since in my case the player and the audience are the same. I'm just learning. I'd never heard a King of Tone and have only been playing with a Pantheon for two days. And yet I could hear why many people like the KoT. That said, JHS is doing a series on Can You Hear It, doing blind comparisons of very expensive pedals and cheap ones. The record in the three shows is poor. But then the contestants weren't like the experts you know. It would be interesting to know if Josh and Brian and others could tell.
Bro PLEASE just admit. The DLX destroys the KOT. This new pedal by Wampler is literally the end all blues breaker pedal. I have one and don't use any other drives
This video reminds me of how I should've bought the KoT when I had the opportunity. Pantheon is just another Wampler wanting to get some money off of others succes. Good products but not on pair with the originals. Not with this or the RAT or Nobels for that matter.
Not sure why everyone wants to be so Either/Or about these two pedals. The obvious success of the KOT has made a lot of other pedals (like the Wampler) possible to begin with, by establishing a market and setting a standard of quality to shoot for. That's a good thing! And bagging on the KOT wait list is just dumb. Don't like Analogman's business model? Buy something else that's mass produced, and they'll sell "your" KOT to someone else. Everybody wins.
That’s pretty much what I am saying…. however, looking at their website makes me believe that the waitlist is due to poor management rather than slow build times. It’s just a hunch… but the website is so poor that I think the shop is just not very structured.
@@EytschPi42 it's a very very small shop with only a few people working there and during the pandemic they were working from their homes. I'm guessing the website isn't updated to what other sites are like is because they simply don't need to, their reputation sells pedals for them. Cheers
Wampler wins, because they produce pedals you can actually buy before you die.

Sounds pretty much the same to me. In a band setting you won't hear any differences.
Eh, you can always snag a Prince of Tone if you just miss that sound.
The music in this video is amazing!👍
Great demo as always dude!
I love the song at the end. Is that you!? Your band?
yes
I am a waiting for the KoT for more than 4 years….
I can buy the Pantheon Deluxe, and even adding in the cost of the Prince of Tone that I have, I come out on top financially vs. buying a KoT--and I don't have to wait three years. I love all the cork-sniffing B.S. from the KoT owners here, though...lol
The King of Tone is $4 less expensive than the Pantheon Deluxe.
Nice to see Felix on drums :-)
Felix Lehrmann on drums! Thats amazing, one of the tastiest drummers out there.
Awesome great music. So sound great bass guitar 🎸 👍
Thanks for demystifying (me, Tenabe Zem/Dum dual)
I honestly don't understand the "insanity" of putting yourself on a wait list. You just send an email and then in a few years, you get an email and can decide if you want to buy one. I got my KoT about 6 months ago after 3.5 years. That 3.5 years would have gone by the same way regardless of my being on a wight list. Now I have a pedal I love that I can sell for $800-$900 in a pinch. Just got on the wait list people. It takes 2 seconds.
You certainly have a point…
After I found “THE” clone that overshadowed my KOT, I sold the original and couldn’t believe that it sold easily for $850!!! Honestly. Yes, it was mint and It wasn’t even listed for more than 2 days!
The clone I replaced it with sounds identical and has the “mods” that most look for too.
I’m happier with the clone than I ever was with the original. (Original is good, but clone has more features
Don’t always fall for the hype. There’s other pedals that are just as good, or even the same, but better!
Best! ✌🏼
@@StashmanfpvWhich clone did you go with?
I went for the clone KOT. In fact, I bought 2 of 'em one for two different setups! I e still got the dudes contact info although he's in China. But my first kot got lost in the mail he responded in one day and sent me out another one immediately and that's why I bought a third so I can have two and two different setups..
So I ended up buying two of those and I also bought a duelist as well and I got to tell you all those pedals look identical to the much more expensive ones and have the same features if not more I can find that contact for the guy in China if you want he's very solid has many positive reviews guy makes amazing pedals too
Did Henning open and show the switch's inside the KOT. I have a queen of crow from guptech awesome and no waiting.
No lie, been curious about that. Would also 100% rather have a crow on my pedal just saying
nice shootout! great sounds both f them... Did you already compare the Wampler Dual Fusion with the Pantheon?
That’s what I heard anyway.
none of the perceived differences will ever matter in a real musical situation
Question....what make of guitar is the light blue Les Paul style you are playing at around 2.10?
Mass manufactured like the Prince of Tone?
@@richnewman Nothing Analogman does is really mass manufactured. It's as boutique as boutique pedals go. Why you ask, any trouble with a PoT?
@@steroq6699 PoT's are made in China on an assembly line.
@@richnewman Strange it doesn't say on the website...
@@steroq6699 They're pretty open about it. Says "Made in China" right on the pedal, too. I know, I have one. They outsource that pedal to meet demand.
The moment when you are asking yourself "Why is Bill Burr now making guitar pedal videos ???" when you see the thumbnail ^^
'
Man, the Tube Screamer really is basically magic. Fun fact: the King of Tone started as a Tube Screamer mod.
10:56 :))))))))))))))))). Love it!
Did anyone else see what I just saw in the intro? If you seen it you will know what I am talking about. :- ?
An artful display of fruit ?
Why not go on the wait list and forget about it? It doesn't cost anything so there's little risk.
I hear you. When you A/B test guitars, amps, whatever, THEN you really see/hear the differences. (On the other hand, sometimes, ignorance is bliss, ha.)
KOT is open sounding. Pantheon more compressed. KOT on my board for 10 years and going strong!
Being on a waitlist for 4 to 5 years just for an overdrive pedal is fucking ridiculous. Ya sure, it sounds good but by the time you get it you will have already moved on to making rap music.
Do you prefer the Wampler over an Okko Diablo Dual? Seems to be pretty similar to me...
Since this, Marshall has reissued the Blues Breaker...have you tried it?
no
I'd buy the pantheon cuz all my pedals are blue. That said I'm buying neither.
I got one because I knew it would fit my main sound and play style and I want something that was hard to get with out paying silly prices, so I'm glade I have it
Is that the drummer from the Martin Miller band? Legit drummer!
it is
Every live venue with an applause .. was that KOT on that solo?? ….everyone says wtf is that ….. 🙄🙄🙄
13:30 "Lieferbar in mehreren Monaten" So no Henning 😑, not (anymore). anyways, have a good one and Merry Xmas🎄to you and your loved ones.
well, the wampler is probably more versetile , the j h s morning glory is my favorite ,its great stacked or just leave on.Is the K O T worth the wait ?Maybe if your convenced thats the only pedal for you.But is it worth the money? na. hell no!
The King of Tone is $4 less expensive than the Wampler.
I think I am saying that the right side of the Pantheon is a different idea.
The differences are clearly audible. KOT is darker. The brightness in the Pantheon is welcome for me but not very flattering sounding. Still, I like not being limited in how clear I can make my guitar sound - and pantheon doesn’t have that limit.
Could have something to do with the Bass control on the Pantheon being turned down to 9 o'clock the whole demo...
Stack both pedals together unleash the mayhem
Well duhhh, one is blue and one is purple.
Finally!! About time someone said so. Duh!!
Nice pedals, man! But would be nice to practice some of your scales before recording the demo! Good job.
I know my scales....
What is you P90 LPaul guitar you are playing today?
Panucci - Inspired Series 59
@@EytschPi42 Hi do you know if the KOT in your video had any of the high gain mods or is it just standard gain?
Are you going thru the fx loop or you going thru the front?
front
Yeah. That was a banana with two practice golf balls.
it was
you're wrong for that intro. LOL.
..so are you and Brian Wampler goat-buddies?
asking for a friend :)
we are!
You should really go back to the drawing board and learn how to use it.
you should watch my Dual Pantheon video. Here, we try to get it to sound like the KoT and nothing more.
I answer the big question that a lot of people have.
Why the banana?
So my question is Why is all I hear a delay when he’s trying demo an overdrive? Dumb question or ?
you must be focusing on the wrong thing... when I play leads, I add a bit of delay, like anyone else.
All about the protein drive these days anyhow
There is only one King of Tone and nothing else yet can take its place it dosen't matter how many knobs and switches you have.
Wow....
Most people, me included, need to be be better players before we start picking this nit.
Just get a real blues breaker
Cheers
The website is comically bad but the customer service on anything (purchase or support) has been excellent
YOU LIKE SAYIN- " KING OF TONE" Just sayin
Nice banana
Pantheon wins. King of tone is overhyped silliness. Don’t fall for guitar Nonsense. It’s just a circuit full of cheap components.
Who is singing in the outro song. Sounds great?
