Thank you for your great video! Confession: Although I do not own a Kobo and probably never will, your video gave me a very good and nuanced impression of what I would have to expect with that device (sometimes really valuable when someone seeks advice) and also was as entertaining and fun as it was packed with facts and summaries of the other videos in this series about the Kobo Elipsa. So, again: Thank you!
Excellent detailed review. In your opinion what is the best Eink notetaking device? Is the scribe number 1 or is there something that tops it? For me, the writing is the more important metric.
5:00 ish I thought that Overdrive is no longer supported but is replaced by Libby (OverDrive). With new s/w update will Libby replace the OverDrive tab?
Hey there. I have a question. Is the writing sound too loud? Do you think I can use it in class to take some short notes on pdfs? Also there was a few people that says pen cause stratches on screen, do you also had those scratches? Thanks.
I don't have much experience working with Kobo and PDFs, but it is possible. I haven't seen any scratches on my screen. The sound is fine, I don't think it would be distracting in class. Certainly the writing itself is quiet enough. Folks might discern the tapping of the stylus on the screen as you start each word. But it's no worse than someone typing on a keyboard.
So text notes on the Scribe are available subsequently in the Kindle app on your other devices, but not so the kobo notes written directly on the book -- is that correct? Thanks.
I believe so. Written notes seem to just live on the Elipsa 2E, however text notes from the Elipsa do carry over to other versions of the app. For example, I created a text note in a book, opened the Android Kobo app on another device, and saw that my note is there in the Annotations tab.
It's not hard. You just select a new notebook to be an Advanced Notebook and then go from there. You do have to designate that at the start of the notebook, you cannot convert one type to another at a later time.
Loved this, thanks. Can i ask you, when you use the stylus to make a handwritten annotation in an ebook (like you did at 27.36), does the annotation disappear as soon as you leave the page? I can see now how to save a highlight, but I was expecting my handwritten notes to be saved also. So far no luck and customer service tells me I have to pay for a an extra service (readwise) to have those annotations saved.
No, it's still there. In fact, I've been reading other books since I filmed this, and based on your question, went back to see if my markings remained to find all of them are present. I don't have a readwise account. I did purchase the book from Kobo, however, so could that be the difference?
I learned about the Libra Color when I reviewed it, but I didn't know that was true for the Sage as well. Thanks for sharing that. Regarding the Sage, does it have notebooks or just writing for annotations?

I have been thinking to purchase Elipsa 2E for a long while and done some research. Your review is the best one I have seen so far. Thank you so much❤
I really enjoy mine. It's my go-to reader in the 10" space.
This video really helps me choose as I like the functions you've demonstrated on Kobo Elipsa 2E.
Thank you - a first class helpful review.

For notetaking I'd look to the Supernote A5X first (keep in mind the A5X3 is about to be released), and then the Boox Note Air 3 C next.
Do any of the Kobo eReaders have text-to-speech? Thanks! Alex
Not that I'm aware of.

I think those are pretty much synonymous. I don't know if either label is going away. Currently it still appears as Overdrive on the 2E.
Best review
What about Koreader experience on Elipsa 2E? Or Kobo in general
The Elipsa 2E does not allow for apps other than the reader natively on the device. However that reader is excellent in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing this. A quick question - how easy and accessible is it to use advance notebook feature? Thanks again.

You can write on the sage and the libra colour
I learned about the Libra Color when I reviewed it, but I didn't know that was true for the Sage as well. Thanks for sharing that. Regarding the Sage, does it have notebooks or just writing for annotations?
The sage has all the notebooks and annotations on books as well❤
