Because 5 months is a long break for him lol. Dude is active af. One of the most active champions of all time along with Usman. As a fan of the sport you gotta love it.
It's a long break for Izzy. He was respectably one of the more active champions, with 2 to 4 fights per year. So 5 months now but no fight scheduled could go up to 8 or 12 months before hes in the ring. Its just a change of pace since he's been way more active than other fighters over the past few years.
He said he wouldn’t return until 2027 and was pretty firm about it.
So now rumors of him coming is a big deal.

Adesanya is smart. The reason Strickland was able to walk him down is because he studied him for so long. He had no where near the same energy for Duplessis who was a virtual unknown in comparison.
If you go back and watch the fight, you’ll actually see he tried to set up Stirckland the same way he set up Pereirra. To Sean’s credit he remained patient. That’s why his win on Izzy is not as dominant as ppl think. I don’t like Sean but it was a fantastic performance tho ngl.

Tbf Izzy’s coach talked multiple times about how bad it is for a fighter to say no to a quick matchup when they’re injured bc it’s not “champ material” yet his own students in the ufc have done the exact same, as well as pulling out of fights they already accepted. To me it sounds like they want an easier matchup when they’re still recovering a decision win all injured n out of the blue last minute😂
