Hey Limcube, I started watching your videos before Tears of the Kingdom released and I love watching your videos. It was fun to watch your theories and the slow grind of botw 100 percent until totk released. Keep up the good work and quality videos. Excited to see where the speed run is currently at!

It has been fascinating to see the strategies evolve from release day until now. It has gradually gone from "just playing the game fast" to "amazingly clever uses of game mechanics" to "non-stop glitch showcase".

Masahiro Sakurai said in his recent video about game development that letting players skip cutscenes is VERY important. I immediately thought of ToTK. That 4 minute opening is brutal on speed-runners.
Wow this is really cool to watch, Limcube. Ive always wondered how people speedrun Totk and how it 'works' becuase its never that simple by just watching.
From personal experience (Speedrunning Borderlands: TPS) there is always a lot more action going on inside your mind then there is on-screen.
I really hope you make more videos focusing around totk speedrunning, becuase I really feel like the potential is there. It'd also be fun to watch them.

An interesting thing about the Daruk amiibo is that it acts differently on GSI than after GSI. I was doing an amiibo only run and was confused why my Daruk amiibo wasn't dropping gemstones. Apparently if you use the Daruk amiibo on GSI before it is completed, they will have the chance to drop gemstones as a material. After GSI, the amiibo doesn't do that anymore.
In botw, all amiibo have several drop tables that they use depending on your game progress. I imagine this game does the same thing and beating the great sky island is the first trigger for different drops.

As an indie game dev, I have to say the way nintendo constantly interrupts the player with zelda's nerd rambles is understandable from a slowing down the pace to build tension perspective, but pretty baffling otherwise
I generally use the rule of thumb "if the player didn't interact with anything, don't interrupt them", and I think it could have been much better here if instead of forcing the player into a bunch of tiny cutscenes, zelda just inspected stuff herself while occasionally inviting link to come look at what she's looking at, or instead just let him run ahead and have her run after him
I really think this is representative of a "you'll have only the curated experience we want you to" attitude at nintendo which can work at times (wind temple ascension), but can also fall miserably flat like it did with the intro section

Player 5 actually started doing a different intro clip yesterday
so unfortunate and hilarious at the same time that the day b4 this dropped that ferrus, aergyl, lovelysirius, and i developed new intro clips and time saves with mozzdor jumps getting intro times to 1:34 at best so far and 1:40s are free
I heard about that, great work, thankfully it doesnt change the overall Idea of current runs too much and thankfully things are still getting faster and cleaner constantly
@Limcube I really appreciate and that's absolutely true. It's amazing how after months of almost no optimizations, the game has seen so much new movement tech being found. Not even gonna start on the insanity that is shock arrow smuggle. Can't wait to see you in the top 10 limcube GL.

I keep getting reminded that at the beginning of the game link has a complete two rows of hearts, and it drives me crazy knowing that we won’t get dlc
Don't let it bother you too much, because at the beginning of the game Link has 30 hearts (2 rows of 15). The maximum possible to achieve is 40 hearts (2 rows of 20).

Im a little saddned that any% ended up being the most popular category. This game would be such a blast to run and watch on Any% Inbounds only
Perfect time of making, I reset my completed game to restart, I had all 120 light roots and killed "the mummy" as well as had all sages, I had tons more caves to explore and shrines to find, but I had the robot and bird sages upgraded, and I did a dupe glitch for infinite diamonds at the robots depths entrance, it probably doesn't work anymore though, but I also duped weapons with a memory glitch, but the reason I restarted is all the glitches I used to win, I want to complete it the actual way

My guess for why the gannon fight trigger is gone on the army but not the bosses is probably because if you do everything in the game then the way opens right after the army fight so they probably just put the trigger after the army to save time.

Someone needs to make a mod that is just terminal montage clips in totk
It would be _possible_ to load a GSI file after selecting "Not yet" for the Ganon cutscene. Or to use the mod that skips the cutscene. Just hasn't been lobbied for because runners used to think they could skip all of intro without losing time

I turned off my updates, and recently, I wasn’t even allowed to start the software without an update. There was no way for me to bypass the update. Took away all of my duping.
You can play it on old versions if you play on airplane mode iirc
Great video but im not here to talk about that what im here to talk about is the ad i got before the video. Tyson chicken nuggets. I HATE TYSON CHICKEN NUGGETS. They are the wurst chicken nuggets you can buy. They love to put hard stuff in them so mid bight you have to spit stuff out. The breading is miserable it falls out and tastes horrible. Never buy tyson chicken nuggets ever. No hate to video tho loved it

just wanna say that I think with your wrist issues with some of the tricks, tricks which have apparently been abandoned thankfully, it isn't surprising at all that the run didn't click with you. Hopefully the new tricks don't cause you injury and you can enjoy the game more.

New tricks? Let’s go! Unfortunately, I didn’t turn off auto updates so I am kinda screwed. No clue how to revert. Would uninstalling the game and reinstalling it with updates turned off work or will it not allow me to start the game?
The only way to go back would be to factory reset your switch, or get another one.
Edit: after re-reading, I am dumb. It is not possible to revert an eshop copy of totk. The thing I said is for a cartridge.
