My first block that was original with the truck was a 2000- 53 stamp, and it was cracked when I bought it, ( reason I bought the truck) 260 k miles. patched it and ran it for a year, then cracked in front towards the oil cooler, and I said enough, and found a 56 storm block, and this is when I did my P7100 conversion , and built my engine. All I can say is, man it’s awesome, not having to worry about reliability issues at all anymore. I also have Power Driven DIESEL’s Predator mechanical lift pump, ( which is a CHAMP), had 2 Airdog pumps, n they’re just simply not made for the kind of pressures the P7100 needs

Back in the early to mid 2000s I bought a 1990 reg cab 4x4 diesel for a really good price and a old welder I worked with loved those trucks and that's what he drove. He told me about pulling hills and how the truck loved pulling hills but they would over heat and blow the head gasket. He was totally right because I was loaded down and there is a long steep hill that would take forever to climb driving any truck from that era because they just didn't have the power. That Dodge was actually was gaining speed going up that hill and was totally impressed till I looked at the temp gauge 🔥 the blown head gasket symptoms didn't show up right away but they did. I knew some mechanics and got myself a bolt stretch gauge and a head gasket from Canadian Tire and did my very first head gasket on a diesel. I had lots of practice on small block Chevy's.🤠 That truck got such good fuel mileage and I broke everything on it mud bogging and hill climbing and river driving. Do not drive fast in deep water or the water will get sucked into the intake and blow your head gasket 😦

My ‘97 12valve…the boost seems to top out under 20psi but only sometimes. Can’t find any obvious leaks, have plugged wastegate feed port and checked the flapper not stuck open. I’ve never wound the turbo beyond 26psi I’m not into speed just reliability and towing my 5th usually under 60mph. The inconsistency of turbo response to throttle has me puzzled! Thanks (born in Calgary)love your channel 👍

I'll be sending you an email in the not to distant future for consulting on my rebuild 92 w250 stock for some more of your tips to add to the build. Like what you mention in this video. I just picked up a 96 ram 1 ton dually automatic from an old timer that wasn’t sure about the build of the motor. 115k and said it was left stock. How can I find out what this thing has on it and what production run it was? I know I have to do the dowel pin for sure. fwiw I called a couple of stealers and they never heard of any dowel pin fix. One guy told me “in 30 years I’ve never seen a one of them there dowel pins come loose son”. Ok great thanks

Great video, I pulled a 12 valve out of a Ford F-800 box truck for my swap I'm currently doing. Been watching your videos to help learn about these engines. A church owned the truck and had everything (turbo, P-pump, and engine) remanufactured shortly before I bought it. The owners manual states 230hp and 605ft lbs of torque, is it ONLY the pump that gives it those numbers from factory or will anything else be different, like injectors or cam? I tried looking up the numbers attached to the pump but they don't correspond to anything I could find. So I don't know if it's a 215HP pump that's factory tuned to 230 or what. Seeing that it came out of a heavy duty application it's got a bunch of weird stuff on it. Like it has no vacuum pump just a big power steering pump that hopefully doesn't blow up my somewhat smaller hydrobooster on my K30. Just curious really, the engine runs fantastic so I'm just gonna chuck it into my truck and run it.

    • @CUTTERUPROB

Not everone sees perfomance upgrade measuerd in cubic feet per minute of rolled coal lol.
Im super curious how to gain adequate power to pull 15k ppounds say RV and car or in my case 40 ft hotshot trailer. The most efficiently with maximum mpg and max hp with minimal or no smoke. The mpg will be measured at posted speed so assume 65 mph average . Given max mpg as the first priority w hp second. 275 hp to 300 may be the most you can expect w singkle turbo. My 97 w 215 pump and NV4500 gets 17mpg and just got 502 miles on a single fill up. It is however weak as can be. I am changing lift pump and Return check valve this week. Id be happy w 15mpg towing if that is possible. It may require compounds but if thats what it takes ok. Id rather not cuz simplicity for maintenance is also a desire.

The P pump will always be able to make more horsepower and torque than the pump one of the advantages of the Ve Years agopump it’s real easy to change your timing you can put on the side of the pump are used to KSP I think that’s what it’s called you can remove that and put an 8th inch timing spacer in there that helps there’s a whole bunch of things you can do the V pump it’ll never make the huge horsepower that all people Apple make but you can get up to 300+ worse contact hungry diesel that guy knows Ve pumps all right you have a good day and cuddle up Rob you’re cool this is six in a rowJim from Kennerdell Pennsylvania Years ago there was a project called rust bucket as a first GEN dodge and they did all kind of things to it and made up to 900 hp with Ve pump and surprisingly he got extremely good fuel mileage
