No it's tokens, not gold.
Both games have pretty horrendous bot problems, tbh. The amount of blinking, teleporting, strange bot behaviors I spot all the time in FF14 is pretty out of control. The point where I can't report them unless its "RMT" activity unless I open a ticket, but their names are gibberish, so I don't bother opening a ticket. Whereas, anytime I enter a city, the same gibberish names are always spamming buying gold ads, like Vanilla WoW back in the day.
@@Sora31494 Most of the gibberish names are bots that just spam RMT sites in chat, sometimes you see a huge group of them getting teleported around certain spots and I think that's part of SE's process of deleting them. There is definitely a problem with gathering bots especially on ephemeral nodes. There aren't TONS of them but there are a few i've seen for years despite reporting them multiple times.

I would unironically watch a series by Carbot detailing escapades of the WoW characters traveling through FF14.

The assumed fight for gathering points, rushing from one node to the next while ff14 characters are just casually gathering at 'invisible' nodes, would be funny. That took a bit to get used to after the switch.

In all seriousness, he uses voice lines from Blizzard games pretty liberally. I’m not sure whether that falls into free use. The videos are clearly parodies but the audio queues in and of themselves are exactly as they appear in the game.

@@abcdefg2120 No the reason why he has the "im being opressed" at the start of the video is because youtube fines you if you are advertising to kids improperly, so he puts that thing at the start to prove "this is not for kids" because youtube likes to false flag all animations as "for kids"
He has never worried about blizz copyright striking him for using their sound files. espeically as this video literally uses those sound files.

FF14 didn't make me quit WoW - Blizzard did. FF14 just happened to be a good game at a good time.
I bounced between the two for years but Shadowbringers is by far the best of the lot so far. I think you're spot on as to why most people jumped to FFXIV.
FF14 is a good game at a good time because the director (Naoki Yoshida) knew that the first version was a gigantic screw up (which probably put WoW today, game design-wise, in shame) that put Square in red alert financially and so was willing to tear the game apart and rebuild it from ground-up, and thus keeping up with the dedication. Had it not happen, then most likely FF14 wouldn't even be here when WoW players needed an exodus. In other words, FF14 played the long endurance game, and it pays off now.
Me? I think I had my doubts in the storytelling since Mists of Pandaria (Even if I didn't play WoW, I looked at what happened in the internet), but the more I get into it further, the more I feel even more justified that "Yeah, it's never coming back up, they're raping the legacy characters into their own twisted, boring design and glorifying stupidity in form of 'constant Faction War'.", so... I never came back and decided to never even look at the story forward. A nice decision, considering how much Blizzard got addicted with scandals and controversies afterwards.
MOP is basically when I stopped caring about WoW, only to return every expansion to see what's up and not stay too long. Shadowlands officially killed the game for me.
FF14 has been good for a long while. Even if the WoW exodus happened like 2 years ago, it has always been a good spot.
As long as world of Warcraft remains I will never leave
You had so much fun drawing all of these catgirls, didn't you.
Nah its definitely the men he had most fun with. HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING.
@@alcatraz160 And the best part is that while the WOW community would be making fun of them for being gay furries or something, in FFXIV, you just learn to shrug and accept that it's just another day in Limsa.

this is sad but wholesome at the same time, such a bittersweet feeling
It's like when Super Smash Bros revealed "EVERYONE IS HERE!" but for WoW content creators, all my favourites are coming. Your animations for StarCraft and WarCraft always made me laugh as I went on those journeys, and now that those journeys are over for me I'm very happy that I get to see more Carbot as I go through my Final Fantasy journey as well.
Well can't blame for the ship-jumping given the total mess Blizzard's in now.

And the turnout will be that in a time, very soon, no one will gives a damn and they will all return... because it is, what always happens. No one will care about FFXIV.
@@journalistisch-redaktionel554 Some hard copium there my friend. Besides even if they do return, so be it, FF14 is a game where you can put it down and say "I'm done, I'm coming back next patch" for whatever reason, the stories, the trials/raids. FF14 isn't designed to be a constant treadmill.
@@journalistisch-redaktionel554 I don't know about you but for me, with each expansion, fewer and fewer friends returned.
For Shadowlands, I was not even going to return, until a friend literally bought it for me so I would play with him.

mogstation is by far the most difficult enemy in the game.
Changing from free trial to subscription mode is like a raid.
In case you didn't catch the news, I'm assuming this is partly based on, FF14 had server crashes a while ago and had to bring new servers online following record player numbers, which they attributed to a mass of new players coming from Wow
Two whole expansions of trite, forced to go along with terrible things storylines and sabotaged characters. I think they needed any excuse.
Square Enix had to actually *stop selling retail keys* to curb some of the flood.
XIV hasn't brought any new servers online since they introduced the Crystal datacenter (which included some servers moved from other datacenters, as well as new ones), and that was over two years ago. They *will* be bringing a new datacenter online for OCE players prior to the launch of the upcoming Endwalker expansion, but that has not yet happened.
I'm assuming your comment is based on a misunderstanding of what actually has happened, the pertinent points of which are:
> Beginning in July, FFXIV servers started seeing a huge influx of new players. This was presumably due to a number of high profile WoW influencers streaming XIV and actually enjoying it, prompting at least some of their communities to also become interested in the game.
> This influx of new players caused the servers to consistently be at their login caps not only during peak play hours per region as they normally would be, but nearly constantly.
> On July 20, XIV's producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, released a statement on the official website apologizing to players for the inconvenience caused by the unexpected increase in players for both NA and EU regions, and announced the implementation of their standard high-access procedures (normally they only activate these during times like expansion and major patch releases, and deactivate them once the initial hype wave has died down).
> Also due to the higher numbers of players, they began looking into accelerating the timeline for bringing the new OCE datacenters online, as well as the *possibility* of adding new servers or datacenters for NA and EU regions after the release of 6.0 in November, or with 7.0 two years hence. Although for all three regions, that action is currently being hindered due to the pandemic conditions restricting travel and limiting chip supply.

@@DavidDuchodca So good.
@@DavidDuchodca it gives me the feeling of vanilla but more refined. So much to do and it's all fleshed out completely. Systems are added carefully and built upon each expansion. The entire game is still relevant instead of being thrown away every two years. I *want* to throw time at it instead of feeling like I have to.
@@DavidDuchodca I think it is yes. Its a little off-putting at first with the anime influence but most of it is completely down to earth fantasy stuff. The classes are all really cool and have long class quest campaigns that continue every few levels for your entire levelling experience. @@luketfer at this point even taliesin is on the ropes. the reasoning behind him waiting to see if things get better is because the interviews he had with the people who actually create the game and those are people he knows in person. they say they put their heart and soul into a game they personally love but its the company itself that needs to change. he took a few weeks off of making videos to grasp what is truly happening behind the legal scenes. FF was always the better game.
