I like archery as well as most of my whole life. I shoot it it very day for fun by myself. My favorite is archery practicing for becoming Better archer.
I'm with you on your thoughts of shooting long range for practice. I shoot to 127 yards before I bottom my sight out. Makes 50-60 yards shots a breeze but I also wouldnt hesitate to try to put a second arrow in an elk or other animal at those longer ranges. It's all about being ethical and the best archery I can be. Great video!
Consider serving in an extra peep during off season for long range shooting. Dual peeps can give you a whole new set of yardages with the same pins. 😊👍🏻
I’ve also never heard of this? I can see using the second peep for the top pin only but the odds of the rest of them compensating perfectly for arrow drop are low
I’m thinking about getting one but I’m not strong but I also don’t know what it’s like to draw back a bow but I need to be able to pull back by next bow season
Raider, very good observation. What a dumb rule if you can't drive up to the bund/target/parapet area to drop off or pick up heavy stuffs like targets etc. Change the rules then. What's that tree doing there in front of the bud/parapet?
Thanks! I recommend going into your local archery pro shop and having them recommend one, have them fit you and shoot a bunch of them and then try to make an unbiased decision. Don't overlook used bows either.
Impressive shooting "Robin Hood" lol. I could just about imagine you wearing the pointed hat with a pheasant feather sticking out of it hahaha. But seriously, your knowledge of bow tuning, and dedication to practice really paid off there. Being proficient with any weapon prior to the hunt certainly shows you are a responsible sportsman. Good video, and nice tip to improve shooting skills.
I switched from wrist strap release to a hand held release. To me the wrist strap felt awkward, hand held release feels more natural. What I also found interesting making the change allowed me to increase the draw length by 0.5" on the bow.
Great shooting and videos. Love your target. Fyi you should be able to get more distance from sight housing by moving it in closer to the riser. This will tighten your pin gaps and in theory more accuracy. Torque tuning is typically the best way to determine how far or close to set your sight and arrow rest distance from the riser. Realistically bringing the housing closer will provide more closer pin gaps for max distance, but the accuracy and forgiveness is probably minimal barely noticeable.
kerryh3d2012 thanks for the heads up! I always knew the pin gaps would decrease if I brought the sight housing closer and always wondered about the torque tuning. Makes complete sense. I like it farther away because I feel like I can aim more precise. I’m not sure if that is in my head or if that’s real haha.
Confidence in your setup is the key. If you feel help it helps your aim then you are on the right track and you have proven it with great groups at 100 yds! Keep it up.
@Brunk Outdoors 26" draw is what I am shooting at as well. How many pounds are you shooting for those shots? How many grains are your arrows? Just wondering...Nice shooting!
Rick D thank you! That bow was at 69 pounds. I always try to shoot at much weight as possible to make up a little bit of speed with our T-Rex arms lol. These arrows were almost 500 grains
@@BrunkOutdoors Damn, I JUST read the description which said 70 pounds lol. And I just asked if you were shooting 340 spine arrows but I paused on your shot of the arrows and saw they are. Very impressive man!
Rick D this arrow is a 300 spine actually, but that’s cause It’s a crazy high foc hunting arrow. It’s actually a gold tip velocity 300 so light shaft but 100 grain inserts and 150 grain heads on it. I actually have a video on it from back in 2016 going over the arrow and how it has performed
What are your pins setup at on the your sights? Just curious as to if you had to move your housing down just to shoot at 100, and if so is there a tick mark on the sight housing slide that you use to drop it down to that point consistently. Thanks! Awesome vid btw!
Tyrone Ferreira glad you enjoyed the video! My pins were set from 20 to 80 yards in ten yard increments and then I just dropped the sight housing down so my bottom pin was 100. Yes there are tic marks on the sight housing where I could change it back and forth if I wanted to but I actually ended up using it like that for a while!
Shooting good at that distance how far would you be comfortable shooting a deer? you should try a spot and stalk with the bow! I'm going to give this a shot! I only ever shot as far as 60 yards lol
Keystone Elite well that's a tough question to ask... I would shoot an elk at 80 and a whitetail at 60 on PERFECT conditions. I am more confident in my shooting abilities than what can happen while the arrow is in flight. Even at 60 yards, the arrow takes a long time to get there out of my hunting set up with a short draw and 500 grain arrows. The good news is unless I'm hunting in a field, I really don't think I'll have to test out my shooting ability on deer. Spot and stalk would be super fun! I have also wanted to track one down after a fresh snow with a bow!
How did you sight the 5th pin to 100 yards? I had a 7 pin sight and could only sight in out to 60 with 5th pin. Diamond Infinite Edge Pro at 65 pounds.
Richard Henke no haha when I was shooting at 100 I had my top pin at the top of the housing sighted in at 40 and my 7th pin was bottomed out in the housing to get 100. There was A LOT of arrow drop
Shoot at to 137 with my carbon knight on the off seasons just to keep it going .practice is alot in archery but patience is my passion now.it works and my family will eat wild game for years to come.great video and man you need a crane to lift your target:) keep it up bro
What arrows do you recommend for hunting and target shooting. I want the flattest trajectory I can get. I’m shooting 29 inch draw length at 65 pounds. Thank you!
One of my buddies is a fingers shooter who is unreal too. He shot his wild turkey in the head and on purpose. I'd say you could be doing that yourself, huh?
you won't hunt at +100 yards in the first place, also, the arrow loses a lot of power after 100 yards to kill anything. Sure it can fly like 200-250 yards but there's no point.
@@danielcolunas i do not hunt , i talk about target , and kinetic energie of a 60 lbs is good enoeg to hit (not to kill,ok). The point is hitting the spot , that is the point!

Forgot to put one in for the balloon? The ballon was covering the whole black center ring.. there were three arrows in it. I really don’t care if you believe me or not
Brunk Outdoors the reason he said that is you shot one arrow to pop the balloon, then followed up with three more. There were only three arrows in the target when you walked down there. No saying you faked it, but you didn’t mention a missing arrow.
I wish America will join the rest of the world in using he metrics. Old timers are lucky we're versatile in both systems. Drive on he left side of the road too please.
Why didn't you drive down there, drop the target off, drive back to your shooting location. Seemed like a lot of work for a group of 3. It was a nice group though.
BBDragon66 thanks! Haha I shot a lot more than what I put in be video. I shot probably 15 groups so it was worth it. And you aren't supposed to drive on the grass that's why I didn't drive down there
Shot four arrows your first go-around one at the balloon and three more following. Shows the target with only 3 arrows...lol. One can only imagine the 4th arrow got lost beyond the target. Great shooting though! I would have missed 3 out of 4.
Matthew Kubik I don't miss lol. No just kidding but that was actually a different group I shot several groups a 100 that day. That's why the clip was at a different angle. I definitely have had my share of misses, if you aren't missing you aren't shooting far enough!
Nice... but you could have saved yourself a lot of effort by moving the target 20 or so yards away from your car and shot up towards where you had the camera...
M5Cookie no actually this is the furthest you can drive in that area. Looking toward where the target is at is not accessible by vehicle to the public, so that’s why he had to walk the target back. So where the target is there is nobody back there and safe to shoot.
Awesome shooting! I’m consistent out to 70 yards, but have never tried further. My goal is now to up that to 100. Thanks for the tips!
Absolutely batshit crazy accuracy brother.
It's good to see someone with a short draw can achieve that amazing accuracy out to 100 yards.
