This eerie song is made even eerier by having him alone on the stage, knowing that he made all the music before-hand, except the drumming and vocals, so that he could perform the entire thing solo, which is the only real way to deliver this. Solo. I wish Wally would revisit Gotye for some new material, but if he doesn't feel it, he can't do it.

Indeed. This re-sample definitely adds a lot to this rendition.
It's this element that breaks the original's monotonous feel.
And, as shown in several other gotye songs ("Heart's a Mess" & "Easy way out" for instance), nobody weaves elements from preexisting songs better than gotye.
He's the only one I know of that does this without it sounding like a boring copy&paste.

I have absolute hearing and an obsession for finding flaws and details that require improvements.
After hearing this live performance for more than 1000 times, I still can't find anything I'd change in it .
The "live at the wireless" mp3 has but a single flaw: the nursery-rhyme-like fade out. But it's omitted from the 4shared download I linked to, so that's basically my perfect version.

I've also found "KMPlayer" settings that gives an entirely new experience with this performance.
1. R-Click KMPlayer.
2. Expand the Audio and enable: "Equalizer", "Normalizer", "Treble Enhancer" and "Crystality" (disable the rest).
3. Expand audio Presets and choose Live.
Important Note: use an older KMPlayer version than 3.2. in that version the Live preset is too echoing.

Well, there are two versions of this song: the original from Boardface and a slightly different "2008 version" which is on the international release of "Like Drawing Blood" (replacing "A Distinctive Sound").
