  • Owning a dishwasher is very helpful, and even in small spaces, a portable model is a great option. Here's a demo of my portable Kenmore dishwasher, which works great, and saves time and effort.
    Model #: 587.17252200
    Here is a link to a faucet adapter that works with my generic faucet. This is the standard size for most of these types of portable appliances, but doesn't fit every faucet out there.. The old aerator un-threads from the faucet, and this one replaces it.

    Thank you so much for this helpful video. I live alone in a tiny house, so I never thought I would bother with a dishwasher, but I am noticing that with age, my eyesight isn't what it used to be, and I am finding that I miss more and more smudges, blobs, whatever, so I think this is the answer.

    Excellent video, you did a good job showing this appliance off to it's best! I actually owned a similar dishwasher years ago, when I would have needed to remove cabinets to put in a regular dishwasher, and it did an excellent job! And it also seconds as extra countertop space when cooking or entertaining! And yes, I too, loved my portable dishwasher! One thing you neglected to mention though, is that they suggest you run your water in the faucet until it's hot before starting the cycle, it saves on energy heating the water with the washer. But still, great video!

    Great video... I'm actually looking to purchase a portable dishwasher and thus was extremely helpful to see the loading and cleaning of the dishes. And I agree with your statement about not understanding friends that have dishwashers and don't use them! I especially hate when parents have dishwashers but make kids wash by hand.... They think it wastes water/electric. Not only are they wrong as dishwashers use less water than handwashing but dishwashers clean well and sanitize on right setting. Anyway can't wait to get my dishwasher!!! BTW... Love the Mario cup!!!

    I have a new (layaway from Sears, paid off in October) Kenmore made by Frigidaire (Electrolux), which now has two separate spray impellers, and has a stainless steel interior. TouchPad controls. 160° for the water heater so hot water is very hot. And it does clean them well. And I use all natural dishwasher detergent and rinse aid.

      @@VacTech1 I use Seventh Generation, which you can get at any supermarket or Target. It cleans very well.
      The only problem I have encountered is if you let coffee cups, or tea cups, sit, they are stained and will not come completely clean, especially if they are white. This was a problem with our built-in Kitchen Aid dishwasher as well. Otherwise, the Kenmore dishwasher I own really goes beyond what I expected, and cleans just as well as a full size, built in dishwasher.

      Prerinsing is the reason dishwasher do not last longer than they do. The detergent, if there's no food residue to eat, will attack the plastic components and cause leaks, seized motors and so on. Just scrape food residue and use good quality detergent, adding a little amount to the prewash cup. Remember to clean filters regularly and you'll get a longer lasting machine

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  Год назад +1

      Sorry, I don’t know what faucet I have. I just got a generic one from a hardware store that has an aerator you can unscrew from the bottom, to fit the universal dishwasher adapter.
      Rare issues with leaks. If I do, I can usually just adjust the dishwasher connector, or reconnect it, and it’ll stop dripping.

  • @LemLTay
    @LemLTay 2 года назад

    Is it an option to permanently site your dishwasher where it's stored (i.e. beside the fridge) and run longer inlet and outlet hoses? If its position was swapped with the fridge, that'll bring it right next to the existing counter / base cabinet. I understand there's no major problems with inlet hose lengths as long as water pressure is adequate, and outlet hoses can be a max of 12 feet. That would save having to wheel up, hook up the water and power each time, though it'll be a couple of steps between the dw and the sink if anything really filthy needs a pre-rinse etc.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  2 года назад

    Wonderful demonstration! Quick question: around 7:25, 7:30, you mentioned that you don't run your portable dishwasher when you're not home. But you didn't finish explaining why. How come you don't run it unattended?

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching! Just in case something were to happen while I'm not around, I don't like to leave it connected to the sink with the water running, when the dishwasher isn't doing a cycle. For instance, leaking water at the faucet, or the adapter popping off during use, (which only happened once because I didn't connect it correctly). I'll often turn it on and leave if I know I'm going to return within a few hours, but just in case, I don't like to leave it unattended all day while I'm at work.
