I am a beginner and with a Janome MC 9850 machine. I've been searching for in the hoop embrodiery videos. Your video and instructions are thorough. Your tip for 100% cotton batting is exactly what I need as a novice. Thank you for this video. I subscribed and will be watching your other videos.
Wendy, Your instructions are amazing and completely thorough. I appreciate your honesty in sharing the goofs to help us avoid making them. You are an excellent teacher!
Well thank u so much!! I'm so glad you found them helpful and the instructions were easy to understand. If you want to really see my goof check out my latest video on the fabric baby book. 🤪😱
Mug Rugs were my first adventure into In the Hoop designs also. Great way to learn, and so much fun!! These make great gifts as you can find just the perfect design for the person. Have fun!!
I'm very confused about the stabilizer ur using. Can u clarify what u have in your hoop & also I don't get when u use the "sticky stabilizer". I am making that very same pattern. Thnk u for your help!
I am using a Durkee hoop, which means I can use a sticky stabilizer. A sticky stabilizer is one that is sticky on one side (the side that is up) so I can just set my Durkee hoop on top of it and it sticks to the hoop. No complicated stretching in a hoop. Then, when I have to add the other pieces for the design, they just stick to the stabilizer. I use Stich Fabri-solvy by Sulky. If you are using a regular hoop, choose a lightweight mesh stabilizer, such as this: amzn.to/3PYMspd I also used a very light weight non-woven interfacing beneath the main area of the mug rug to give it more stability for the applique. I just happened to have that in my stash. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.
@@WendyJHaney Thnks so much! I’ll pull the pieces tmrw & hopefully it will now make sense. I was so happy when I discovered your video making the same piece! 😘
If I was at home and I had my pattern I could tell you better. But... usually (I think) the pattern will show you if you print it out. Otherwise... print out the pattern w/ the thread colors and then do a quick sample on a single piece of fabric and then make notes so you know what color needs to be adjusted for fabric and thread. Sorry I can't help more right now. Ping me again if you still need help, by then I should have the design file in front of me.
Thanks so much, after rewatching your fabulous video I downloaded a free trial of embrilliance it’s fantastic but I can’t afford to buy the full version.
Understand, not cheap for sure. At least gets this one handled for u. Many times the designer already has a PDF file u can download with the information too
@@WendyJHaney Thankyou so much for your help and support. Your video is fabulous and given me the confidence to have a go. I’m very new to machine embroidery. It’s my 65th year and beginning of a new adventure. X
@@WendyJHaney Yea!! I made it. Only had issues at the end as machine kept doing the wrong outline so I used my sewing machine. So proud of myself. Thanks for your great video.

Designs by juju are so reasonably priced🥰
I totally agree! Which is why I love them, and they are so perfect for instructions that doesn't cost you a lot to work along with me. 😍
Hi Wendy! I’m new to in the hoop and machine embroidery! Looking forward to making mug rugs! Thanks❤

i HAVE PUT MY MUG RUGS IN THE DISHWASKER ALSO AND COME OUT GREAT. PUT THEM IN THE UTENCIL HOLDER
WOW!!! Nice idea, thanks!
@@WendyJHaney
It really does work great.
I'll give it a try for sure!!
Is that a magnetic hoop? I have a Brother Dreamweaver 6200 sew/embroidery machine. I bought the Dime magnetic hoop
No, it's a Durke hoop that I use adhesive stabilizer with.
How do you know which colour fits to which pattern part? I want to change the colours to purples
