Yeah after hearing your review on sunburn and the other sms mods I remember you saying your ideal sunshine was one that had the freedom but respected the level story and i had a feeling youd love it brendan haha😂.
@@epicwade6346 Yeah, the Sunshine portion of Eclipse was literally exactly what I described as my ideal Sunshine experience in that video. You all did an amazing job on it, and I look forward to releasing my video on it because I have a lot of good things to say. Thank you and the rest of the team for all your hard work on it!
That thing about having to complete the game for postgame is so interesting. I kind of wonder if vanilla Sunshine would actually have a worse reputation if getting everything got you something since then people would feel forced to do so
Awesome video, PhantomBane. Can't wait to see more content from you! I loved how you detailed the new movement options and quality of life improvements in Super Mario Sunshine Eclipse. It's incredible to hear about such a dense and content-rich ROM hack! Keep up the fantastic work!
Once you get the spin jumps down the game becomes easy/fun. After 13 years of playing super Mario Sunshine I never realized how important spin jumps are even in the OG game
I presume the reason why it looks so dark early in the game was an intentional decision, since it's supposed to look that way due to all the missing shine sprites. I see what they did there...
In my opinion, having to figure and decode the Gamecube and Wii is difficult nevertheless...But I'm pretty happy people are starting to get into the gamecube system nearly 20 years after the console launched in Japan and America in 2001. As for me, I do hope the same could be doen for both the PS1 and PS2 if you ask me.
I'll be honest I never could beat normal sunshine. As soon as I played this though, I am near 100% all levels lol. This might be my favorite mario game I don 't remember enjoying a mario game since galaxy
I've played the original, and let me tell you, it was difficult to play this game. But thankfully my sister had a "Player's Guide" to beating Super Mario Sunshine back in the early 2000s, so we were able to play this game without any issue whatsoever.
@@Toothpork Ah...For me I end up playing it for maybe a good 4 to 6 hours, and once I get to a nice stopping point, I stop playing the game, but I never come back to finish it.
I haven't played this because I've never played the original. I want to but IDK if this properly replaces the original or if I should play sunburn (the source of many of the improvements you mentioned) then wait a while before playing eclipse.
Just play eclipse, it's the entirety of super Mario sunshine with extra content sprinkled throughout and a hefty custom post-game. Personally, my biggest problem with eclipse is that I had played sunburn a year or two ago and didn't really want to replay sunshine to experience eclipse.
Definitely don't play Sunburn, I'd suggest playing the original first. Don't 100% it, just play through to the final boss and experience the fun and jank alike. And then you can play Eclipse, enjoy the changes (that you wouldn't have a frame of reference for otherwise) and if you go for 100% it won't be as painstaking.
Apparently the blue coins are so 'baked into' this game that there is no way to remove them and still make this a playable experience. I'm holding out hope for that type of mod one day. I 100%'d this game once, and when I finished, immediately thought to myself "never again" all because of the blue coins. No shame on you if you like blue coins, but in my mind, they could've easily added in more shines in place of those damn things.
Some of them are just stupidly placed and need a guide to find, but since Eclipse (mostly) has every coin available in Episode 8 it makes it so much less painful. Without the stupid save popup too.
I wish they just made it its own separate game instead of adding it onto regular Mario sunshine especially since I’ve already played Mario sunshine a million times. Oh well
Hey all you hardcore Nintendo fans out there, you guys should make Super Mario Eclipse: The Red Plummer That Saved The Eclipse Festival!. Basically imagine if Nintendo themselves made the Super Mario Sunshine ROM Hack, Super Mario Eclipse, as as an official expansion pack and rerelease it with the original Super Mario Sunshine video game for it's 20th Anniversary in 2022 and be SO good and SO impressively phenomenal to behold for all the right reasons why that it's to the point where the diehard haters of today will be all like, "You know what; We be more than happy to take this over the official original itself any day of the week, period!". It's also 100% fully home console compatible with The Nintendo Gamecube all the way up The Nintendo switch and beyond, It also features and online and offline COM adventure battle race royale multiplayer mode with or without leaderboards, a Super Mario Maker style level maker mode and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more stuff in this very title alone that it's the textbook definition of a overall never-ending Super Mario Eclipse: The Red Plummer That Saved The Eclipse Festival! must-play video game experience that we'll undoubtably won't soon forget, no questions asked!
I wish Nintendo would do something like this, but sadly Nintendo's not going to bother. They're not going to make a game that's compatible with the gamecube nor the wii, and would rather make a game specifically for the current hardware.
So I will never get all the blue coins. I won't even go for 100% shines. I think it's utterly disgusting that that's even a design decision that they made and I have zero respect for it. It's not fun in the slightest even in vanilla, who the hell would do that in when they made the game bigger? If anyone knows a code to unlock everything after a casual playthrough, I'd be interested.
I loved this so much that I got 100% in less than 3 days. I couldn't put it down, and no game has made me feel that way since I was a kid.

I don't suppose you'd be so kind as to post your save file anywhere? I'm not going to 100% this just to see the postgame content.
Bro thats insane. I’ve been playing the last week and at 110 shines 😂
@LemonGoofball yeah I'm at 136 after a little over a week. Lol feels like forever till i 100%

Great video. I was iffy about playing this because I found the demo to be too hard but after seeing this review, I have to give it a try!

Great vid always love seeing our mod make peoples day ❤. Supprised you didnt mention the new cutscenes too.
Am I crazy or does it sound like mario is saying 'huak tuah' everytime he dives lol
I'll never be able to unhear it now
7:39 So what's the lore explanation for Spongebob and Patrick being here?
Oh my god that looks awesome and beautiful I will take it thanks bane oh and one more thing they should make Metroid Prime Hacks that will be awesome

Sunshine is my favorite 3D mario so im excited to play it this winter on my wii (if it works on hardware)
It works, and it's fun
It works on hardware but custom music doesn't play

The music doesn’t play for me

A small indie dev team made a better game than Nintendo.

hi
Nah, it's a Remake. A second Game would never have the same Content from First Game.
Pokemon Gold is crying from this.
