Please do more of these. It’s nice to see someone go through the full process and I find it helps me motivate myself to workout. I was contemplating skipping my workout today and watched this video to get myself into the gym
Love this format man! It shows your thought process, how much you warm up, and relative intensity you go after. I paid close attention to a lot of the little things and it's extremely useful.
Agree with Dakota, would definitely keep this sort of long-format training video. I would suggest throwing in guests from time to time to train with you, similar to what Mike Israetel, Larry Wheels, Bradley Martyn, etc does. They all have found really good success with long format training videos. There's also the added entertainment/humor effect when you're in between sets, or can opt for more educational pearls in between sets too. Just my two cents.
I think it’ll get more natural as you do these more. I also think it would be really cool to have more of the BBM crew do a session for a video. Also, a couple questions for the next one… why don’t you try to gain some weight during this body building block? Whats planned after this block for training? Ever taking a dip back into strongman?
I wanna see a squat @8, Deadlift @8 and paused bench @8 all in the same workout with backdown sets of Fahvv while chugging a gallon of milk the entire video
You seem uncomfortable having the mic on, but it does leave potential for more “real training” insights that might be useful. Maybe prepped questions will help bridge that.
I enjoyed this because it felt very natural. It felt like I came to the gym with you. My only suggestion is to throw your training plan for the workout up prior to rolling into it, for no other reason than I would like to know lol. Long-format is good for this, IMO. It does a lot to relax and calm your viewers/followers when they can see you doing all the weird things and making all the weird sounds that we all do. BBM does great work for reducing the mental barriers to entry, but being able to see it "unscripted," so to speak, is good.
Hanging out with you is nice! You’re right, your counting is atrocious 😂 but the out loud self-coaching is cute! Explaining why you’ve chosen (I’m assuming you’re programming this for yourself?), particular exercises is interesting from a coaching and programming perspective so more on that would be good. I like it!
Do more training vlogs micd up like this often jordan, its informative, gives alot of insight between sets, what you feel, why you do things certain ways. Its more personal. Vlogs like this, along side informative videos, will grow bbm like wildfire.
I like it, Jordan. Thanks for doing the mic'd up. Fun to see the process. Very relatable and motivating!! 3 Questions for next time: 1) What time do you usually go to the gym? 2) What do you eat before and after? 3) Are afternoon naps important for recovery? Thanks again!
I liked the change. It's understandable that your brain isn't totally available in between the sets, but the commentary was great. Would be nice to see more like this. For an average Joe like me, it's nice to see what your thoughts are during the workout. Adds a bit of humanity to freaks like you. 😂
good format. the format is good for putting on in the background while taking care of chores(dishes, eating or working out at my home gym). It's good to see what other trained people's workouts look like.
It's cool to see these training vlogs! Jordan is so ridiculously strong it's not even funny lol. If you like doing the training vlogs this way, then I'm all for it. If you don't like doing the training vlogs this way, maybe you can voice over your clips rather than talking during your training *or* talk through any points you wanted to make / answer any questions you wanted to after you finish the training - just some ideas. In any case, whatever you choose, I'm here for it - great to see another training vlog! While you are on this bodybuilding kick, maybe you could organize a training session between you and Dr. Mike Israetel. Seeing two of the most jacked brains in the space doing some bodybuilding training together would be awesome!
Really love this 9/10, keep it. Speaking your thoughts especially when you are dialing in the RPE. Seeing it as part of the whole session is super useful. Q: When moving exercises around will putting exercises to the back of the line impact the RPE because I'm more tired by the end of the session? I would change the bleeps to a more pleasing sound though, like elevator music beacuse its so much louder than the rest of the video and hurts my ears(headset).
👍 on mic’d up. Question 🙋♂️ Why do you not capitalize on the stretched position for the rows (ground stopped you) and bicep curls, when we know there’s more hypertrophy for stretched vs contracted ???
I don't think you have to force conversation between sets but I do think a lot of what you were feeling at the time is more interesting/helpful than you were probably thinking in the moment. So maybe turn the mental filter down a notch and then cut the dead space when there's nothing else to say.
Yes do more training vlogs! I like the mic'd up long form, great to hear all of your nuanced thoughts, but I can understand it being kind of awkward Always good insight from my favorite smart strong boys
I was curious about your incline dumbbell press form and I guess your form for all your lifts. Would be cool to get some insight on specifics in-between sets or even critique the set you just did.
Most body builders I met like to keep set rest range really short, like 1-2 min max, seemed to work real well for them. I like powerlifting style workouts, so the times I tried those types of exercises, I sucked ass.
this style of videos is good tbh but i personally like your typical videos. To get a better explanation about anything that you are describing your typical format is better. I would recommend doing the training vlogs mic'd up and separate videos for QnA
Don’t edit the rest periods out or feel like you have to talk too much-it’s a reminder to the audience that the majority of training doesn’t need to be exciting or attention getting to make progress.
I’m currently running the beginners template is that how I should preform the barbell rows? Or does it not really matter I’ve been doing them pretty strict
I'm curious about everyone's perspective on pendlay rows vs. dumbell rows. I have been doing both lately, but I prefer the dumbell because I feel like i get a bigger stretch in my lats. What does everyone else prefer?
I'm partial to chest supported dumbell rows. You can go pretty heavy and get a nice stretch. Stand backwards on an Incline bench and pull both dumbells up from the floor.
I think ROM is gonna be bigger with dumbells but total stimulus for your whole back (erectors, traps etc) may be better with barbell. either way rows aren't the ideal movement for lats (compared to vertical pulling) so I don't use lat stretch to rate them, although a good stretch isn't a bad thing haha
I'm with you. Better stretch and better eccentric contractions. I can feel dumbell rows and cable/machine rows better than Pendlays. I like to go heavy on the Pendlays, well, you have to.
Pendlays would not be a go to for hypertrophy because it’s almost impossible to control the eccentric and aren’t as stable as something like a chest supported row.
I'm starting to wonder if my RPEs/RIRs are off. I try to predict what your RPE is and it's a lot less than what you rate it (on your first working set of inclines, I thought that was like RPE 5)
How much would Baraki have to be paid to do this 😂😂😂
I feel like he’d do it and just not say anything. Gym sounds + dad noises ASMR.
He used to live stream his sessions every now and then on Instagram and answer questions from the live chat between sets
He’s a bike, so they always want money out of it.
Honestly Jordan, I'd watch anything you guys put up.
Jordan's doppelganger makes an appearance at 13:27 😂
Absolutely, keep doing mic'd up trainings

I like both the mic’d up and the traditional style.
I love this style! Feels very genuine

Liked the long format with mic and chat in between sets. Good got have variety in the videos
This was honestly nice and nice to see how you actually train as well! :D
The most handsome doctor in NA looking handsome!
I loved seeing the things people talk and show less like warmup sets.
Waiting for that BBM Android app

That guy is an agressive douche
Good to know that trouble counting reps is more of a universally shared thing than I thought lmao
love it, more like this!
Great format, really dig the knowledge tidbits sprinkled throughout.
I like it, do it again. Thank you.
This is the content we need
don't feel weird doc, I saw people talking on their headphones at the gym and just assumed that they were on the phone with their coach/friend.
Who else feels like they have their old training partner back when Jordan posts these vlogs?
I like this! Would love to watch a lower body day as well!
Kinda cool format listening to unfiltered Jordan
Really love this 9/10, keep it. Speaking your thoughts especially when you are dialing in the RPE. Seeing it as part of the whole session is super useful. Q: When moving exercises around will putting exercises to the back of the line impact the RPE because I'm more tired by the end of the session?

Second this. Either complete audio fade out or dub the ambient sounds in the gym. Other than that 10/10 content.
Things that made my day: Dr Feigenbaum DB Bench pressing to Plug walk at 10:06
Wtf is plug walk?
@@grimtrigg3r A song
This was really good Jordan, love how you kept it raw and unedited compared to all the influencers! Respect!
This is so great. Which template is Jordan running or is it his own custom template?
I like the constant recording as you're mic'd up.
Always great to see how advanced people like yourself do their sessions - helpful! 👍
👍 on mic’d up.
Question 🙋♂️
Why do you not capitalize on the stretched position for the rows (ground stopped you) and bicep curls, when we know there’s more hypertrophy for stretched vs contracted ???
I have never seen a gym like that where everyone is jacked
Keep doing these type of vids! They're great
Didn't yell "light weight baby" even once. Very disappointed. Is this really even bodybuilding?
Keep this going….
Thankyou Jordan! I love this stuff! First night back to powerlifting! Doing hypertrophy as we speak!
Never clicked on a video so fast!
Please do more vids like these
Definitely
Keep these up
How important is eccentric control to hypertrophy?
Really enjoyed the video Jordan thanks for sharing
Mic'd up❤❤
How about a VLOG, or snippet from the track cutting a few hot laps? Hopefully not one that includes a shoulder reduction..
I'll watch anything u put out. 3 hour ASMR vid? a little bit weird, but I'm in
I like these videos; you also get people watching and see what kinda prehab/soft tissue stuff people are doing behind you ironically
@ 18:10 you're definitely going viral for "creeping" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn, that redhead in the background while you were benching looks strong af

Keep it miced up Jordan, how do you like training at your current gym?
The dude on the bench at around 10:00 was about to do a SquatU drill....
people in the background doing squatU stuff should definitely be blurred out in future videos
Lmao a band + kettlebell unilateral work, some Seedmeme quackery
@@Andreastheduck not hating on him though, just hating on SquatU lol

I like it. Feel like it would be cooler with another person there to banter with
cool vid keep up the strong work and better avoid the preacher machine as it cuts off the rom.
do you track or even pay attention to any fitness info that your apple watch gives you during your workouts?
Good idea for a video, slightly different perspective. You didn't gain much muscle because you're already jacked😂
This is weird seeing Jordan do some commercial gym bodybuilding workout. Looks unnatural.
Definitely a squat or deadlift up to a 1@8 or something similar in fashion.
Maybe talk about your intent before doing the set, what you think during bodybuilding vs powerlifting
Everybody liked it
@11:30 - "RPE is a proxy for RIR". How is is different for singles?
RPE 9 doesn’t always mean 1RIR especially for lower rep ranges. Sometimes an RPE 9 doesn’t mean you’ll be able to muscle out another rep.
If you keep doing bodybuilding, collab with doctor mike from RP?
fuck no
@@nicokorkiamaki2991 why not

@@SomethingWylde why is Jordan doing them durning the whole body building thing 😂
That preacher machine is a gains thief, bicep ain't getting the length
its a preacher curl, not designed for bicep length. Use db incline bench or face away cable curl etc for length.
I'm starting to wonder if my RPEs/RIRs are off. I try to predict what your RPE is and it's a lot less than what you rate it (on your first working set of inclines, I thought that was like RPE 5)
I think people's perceptions of RPE based of other people's videos can be skewed. Some people's RPE6 will look like someone else's RPE8.
RPE doesn't have to be accurate, just precise/consistent eh
Same, I feel like I'm still going a bit too hard, even though I made a conscious decision to go lighter in the past year after BBM recommendations.
11:00 Jordan catches some mid-set boody
