Ohhh man I've been lip syncing for years but it's always nice to watch tutorials and see if I can pick up any new tricks!
OMG JAYSTAR! YOU'RE AN INSPIRATION!! ;'O
Heyy c:
The Queen of Smooth is Here!
BOW TO HER!
* bows down to the Queen of smooth~ *
xJaystarzx hey awesome wafflessss
xJaystarzx i watched one of ur videos and u earned a sub ^^
Yeah I focus on the acting. But I tend to take it one step further and where each character has their own SPECIFIC SET OF RULES for how they will move and turn and act.
An angry flamboyant character acts and moves very differently from an angry shy-introvert character. One flails and exaggerates their expression shouting while the later sits and sulks.
You da master of mouth master
***** im also the master of getting nothing done on time.
Crap, I forgot to mention that. Specific rules that define the character. Oh well, another time!
Yeah, don't you have a work animation and a personal animation due soon? Now? Something like that.
+Crowne Prince i do😋 but watching your videos is sometimes more inetresting!
I remember I was watching the anime “Soul Eater” with my brother and his girlfriend at the time, and one character always has earbuds on at full blast and can’t hear anything. Apparently the character can still understand people by reading their lips. Then I said, “How can you do that if your mouths just open and close?” My brother and gf were dying with laughter!
Oh my gosh that's too funny 😆
oh man i just recently learned on my own to have each mouth shape for two frames to make it look better
im not a huge fan of puppets so i end up redrawing mouths every time
Hello buddy
How ru
Ur animations are amazing
It’s been 4 years since u commented ehre
❤️💜💛🖤💙🤍🧡
I like how their character is randomly on the beach.
I would love to start animating actually. I have too much free time on my hand and not much to do.
Please do if you have the time and have passion for it! :) You never know if later in life you could lose all that time and wish you had it back. Is my advise :)
I'm gonna be able to afford flash later on this year so I can indeed follow through :) I enjoy drawing as it is, so this might start another hobby. I've tried gimp and that program is not my favorite otherwise i'd try it again.
Purplechu I was told Krita is a good free 2D program to use which sometime I perhaps should try myself however I don't do lot of 2D :/
I'm actually following the twitter page. So i'll have to give that a try. Does it have tablet support and workable layers and all that fun stuff?
Purplechu well anything that just uses a mouse would use a tablet I'm sure and I imagine it uses layers saying I hear they put animation frames in it. However I haven't tried myself so wouldn't be sure myself because I also used Gimp :)
I know it's not good animation etiquette, but I completely ignore the "Leave each keyframe of mouth visible for more than one frame" rule. I like making sure every distinct mouth position is included in every sentence, so no matter how fast a character says "The" there will always be at least one "TH" mouth frame.
I don't follow it either, but that's because I sync with one's on occasion, and like you I'm paying attention for those distinct sounds.
The mouth position in Japanese animations, especially when the character is still and talking in an average tempo, is a bit easier because of the need for only three mouth positions.
The A sound = Open mouth
The E/I sound = Stretched mouth
The O/U sound = Rounded mouth
Thx dor the tips !
And the closed mouth
Thank you! I recall reading in an animation book years ago that anime just uses mouth shapes for vowels but I couldn't remember which vowels.

"You're a villain, just not a supervillain."
"Oh yeah? What's the difference?"
"PRESENTATION!"
And then the lowest level of speaking is the way I do it. The mouth doesn't move and just is open if the character is talking and isn't if their not
Laventure Heart that's actually not too bad, it reminds me of really old hello kitty movies on vhs ^w^
A good way is to record your mouth while saying the lines then go through it slowly so you can get the right shape.
Nice pfp
2:46 I think this style of snoot on your character looks a lil better than the old one
Started out a mouth master and will always be a mouth master.

Within the -hundreds- thousands of comments, I shall ask one of the most obvious questions... and that is: What do you animate with?
Adobe Animate.
Holy dawg, you replied!
Released Insanity flash! He has showed it many many many many many many times in his videos.
Animate CC. it's in the video at 0:26
Flipaclip :3
I really wish I didn't move because of my previous teacher, she's deaf and the reason she can teach is because she can look at your lip and see what your saying. I could ask her and say: what is this character saying? It'd help me so much to see my mistakes. ;-;
I self taught myself lip syncing, but I probably should get more info
(And I think I started in between typical mouth and mouth master😕 I pushed myself...)
Edit: 20 likes?... Why?
Magic The Cat same
Yeah, I taught myself lipsync, too. I started somewhere between the anime mouth and the cartoon mouth. Though, I'm slowly climbing up into mouth master. One sec, I'll give an example of my first time lipsyncing.
My first attempt at lipsync. (Cringe warning) ruclips.net/video/-f3FsInmfws/видео.html
That was probably the cutest episode I've ever seen. All because I love lip sinking. It makes a more realistic animation style, but it's also because I watch peoples mouths when they talk because I listen to loud music and stunted my hearing. Kinda developed a fetish four mouth movement.
i want to make an animated series
(i need voice acters help..)
and i learnt about lip sycn
like;
"Im an albatraoz"
"What?!"
"Fireball"
Yeah same with me. Still need a voice ?
Can I (try) too help with the animation once i get a little better
As someone who watches lots of cartoons and anime, lip movement is something I do notice and wondered about over the years.
Thanks for answering what sort of work goes into that process.
This is by far the best lip sync tutorial I've seen, I will definitely come back multiple times!
To be honest, these actually really help me. I've never tried animation like, professionally!
Odd1stOut: I just open my mouth & then words are starting to come out.
Sr Pelo: same here

I believe Swoozie uses the first lip sync technic in his animation
This was super helpful!! I was having a hard time finding video tutorials for "cheap anime lip syncing" lol and only found ones for the latter two. Thank you for including the different "levels" :3
I'm so glad you did a lip sync with an animal character. Good to know that you have to make a new entire new muzzle for each phoneme.
These are seriously the best and easiest to follow tutorials. Thank you so much for making these!
"From little small to big wide aaAHHHH"
I love that puppy at the beginning: bobbing up and down with the music, too bad it's only for a second
Heyo! This was a nice and helpful video, so thanks for making this! As a random little note from me, I typically add “cushion” frames when a wide, open mouth shape transitions into a shape where the teeth are together. What I mean by “cushion” is a shape where the lower jaw is very slightly higher than the previous frame to make it look less unnaturally sharp while still giving it a crisp feel. Just a random thing my animation teacher taught me
Thank you. I am working on my movie and making sure I keep pace with my characters' lip syncing. I like your art.
Six year later and this is STILL a masterpiece!
Great tutorial CP. Continues to highlight the respect and admiration that animators deserve. Well done :)
Wow this is going to help me so much! I hope that I can work my way up slowly to the last mouth animate
Thank you sooo much as a beginner animator/Digital artist this helped me LOADS!!!
Thanks scribble kibble! Were trying to animate a movie, and we want PERFECT I MEAN BEUTIFUL 2D animation, and good lip sinc. You really help!
Niiiiiice! I animate lipsync somewhere in between typical cartoon animation and "Mouth Master" animation, as you called it, because I do everything by hand. I may have just started a year ago, but I'm animating a series so I need this. Thank you!
This is my #1 favorite lip sync tutorial!
Thank you so much! I already knew about lip sync because I worked with puppets but I wasn't sure how to do it on animation. This helps greatly!!
Thank you! This really is going to help me in the future for lip syncing, keep it up!
You make every animators life easier, thank you 😂 🙌
4:53 oh dear shes creepy O.O
Thank so much !! I was so confused on lip syncing at first but this helps lots thanks! also could you do more of these tutorials as well i love them!
Finally thank you so much! Ive been looking for a good tutorial and this was it
JEEZ THAT END GAVE ME CHILLS
I made my own mouth lip sync. I call it "Cheaper Anime" I only have 2 frames for talking. Yep, one frame with the mouth open, the other frame with the mouth closed. But, i'll attempt Cheap Anime
Why tf do i keep finding you
Why don't you have more subscribers? I'm not an animator and I still find all of your tutorial videos amazing.
I don't even animate and I love to watch these videos, its all just so interesting.
I can’t get over how serious the music got in the end XD
Thank you so much!!! I do the same thing as in saying the sound and movement of the words with my mouthXD, this helps alot thank you!
Thanks Crowne will help me a lot in the future :)
THIS IS SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much!
I don't do animation yet but I love your channel because I can get tips so when I start animating it's not crappy
'it is about the delivery'
- Crowne Prince,
Quote of the year
I just love this video. I came to it because I am interested in animation lip syc, but even if I weren't, I'd still love it.
This was informative and so funny! Thank you!
in object show animating we usually change shape every frame. but only sometimes.
ps this was the first vid i saw on your channel i instantly knew i would subscribe
Though this is old, it's really helping me out!
wow this is so much help I've recently just started animating and my dad wants me to try something else different program, different style but you are alot of help 😉
“it is about... the DELIVERY” idk why but i started cracking up
Wow.... Thank you Crowne Prince!
Tiny TeacupZ i
Ahhhhhh ty so much for a feral lip sync video it took me forever to find one!
I do the latter most of the time, but i do edit and tweak some of the same frame.
I will for example draw the top half of the muzzle, and for each frame draw the bottom jaw only individually
This is so good!
EEE!! This Is Helpful For my Animating so far THANKS!
Thanks for the tips. I'll use them in my stuff.
Crown prince u inspired me to start drawing Wolf and cats! Tysm
Im just starting and this helps alot thanks 😁
Recomendations actually gives me a video i desperately need xD
thanks for this! :D im new to animating, this helped A TON! :3
3:56 thats what i did when i was learning to lip sync, now i just need to listen and i dont have to
You are simply my hero.
Funny, I think when you're creating a character, drawing or animating one there will always be a certain degree of acting. It's an obvious statement, but I find it really intriguing. Makes me wish I did more drama lessons when I was little.
I am completely new to lip syncing, so when I get the right thing to animate on, this video might help a lot! ^w^
This was really helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for the tips!
Thanks! I really needed this :D
Congratulations on 300k
You are rely helping me on a lot of my art ty :3
You really inspire me to start animating on the computer since I only tried Flipnote yet..
I love you , you basically saved my life .
Thank you for your tips!!
Thank you so much I love your videos and help a lot for my animtions ❤❤❤
This was really helpful! Thanks! :)
For those wondering, you can use Toon Boom's drawing substitutions.

Is it just me or the way kibble draws humans is hilarious
I tested Lip sync for years on paper, and now I'm amazing at it.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
This is really helpful!
THANKYOU FOR THE INFORMATION
Also love your vids
I lip sync in a style in between cheap anime and typical cartoon. I just listen to the audio, mouth it in the mirror, and draw it.
I would like to add something about mouth shapes. If you are in a chorus program you will probably already know what I’m going to get at from this little hint. Make sure that while animating singing that your mouth is taller for more “mature” sounds and can be more open when it is quite, especially on high notes.
Okay this was really helpful thank you so much
