Personal comments on the mid- to forefoot shoe volume. I have slightly wide and thick feet, and D width Tempus 1 (and Guide 17) works well for me. But I have to choose W for the Hurricane, as the reinforcement material around the first pair of lace holes presses too much on my right foot. Something people might want to look out for.
Saying things like "good for slow runs" creates so much confusion. I was running two days ago with Hurricane 24 at 5:30/km pace, which for me is fast running and it was perfectly ok 😅
I have 4 pairs of the Tempus v1, the first three all pushing 300 miles and still holding strong. I’m six foot and 205 lbs, very impressed with the Tempus. Excited to try the hurricane
Very similar to me. I’m 6’1” at 195lbs and have gone through five pairs of the Tempus V1. Just got in a very nice run in them today and went to the running store to buy the Tempus V2 but they didn’t have them so they had me try the Hurricanes but I was not a fan. Did you try the Tempus V2? Non of the stores around me has them.
Having had a variety of stability shoes in the past, I do think Saucony has the best stability lineup. Loved my Tempus as a long run show till they went flat. Now use the Hurricanes more often since the superblasts have taken over what the tempus used to be for. Given that the Tempus feels best at faster paces, wish they made v3 lighter and more speed and race oriented. Saucony has a lot of potential of having a top-notch stability rotation.
Matt the Tempus 1 is my favorite shoe of all time. Wide footed....flat footed over pronator has worked wonders for me. Ran a (then) PB in a half and full marathon in Tempus v1.
Just curious, had you previously run in the Hurricanes? The Hurricanes had always been my marathon shoe, but bought the Tempus V1 when they discontinued them. Now seeing the Hurricane 24 has me second guessing.
Thanks Matt! Would love to see Tempus vs Hyperion GTS 2 vs GT-2000. Also, if anyone wants a more relaxed fit, the Tempus 1 is wider than both the Tempus 2 and Hurricane 24.
Tempus was good and speedy but abit firm hurting my foot for longer runs, then I found the kinvara pro for $100, they were superb for marathon distance. Always forgotten, but one of the best stability long run shoe.
Using the hurricane for longer runs at slower paces, problem with the tempus (1) is that it bottoms-out after 60min (12-14km) for me with 84kg. Not sure about others options with some stability better for my paces and weight
I have both - Getting ready for my 6th marathon in two weeks. I've been a Tempus fan since they first appeared, countless pairs, 3 marathons run in them. Just got Tempus 2 and got the Hurricane 24 when it came out. I've always been a stability shoe wearer and Saucony has been my go-to for years (I've forgiven them for that horrible 'ISO' business). I searched today for literally this exact comparison. I've been training in Tempus for all of my long runs but yesterday's run left my feet feeling a little more sore than normal so I started contemplating whether I should use the Hurricane instead. But after this comparison I think I'll stay the course and run in the Tempus. It's too close to the race to change things up plus I can't deal with the tongue sliding on the Hurricane 24 (my ONLY complaint about this shoe and hoping they bring out the 25 version with a gusseted tongue).
Have only ran in the Hurricane so far out of these two, but it might beat out Puma MagMax and SB2 for my daily trainer of the year, mostly due to the drop being a little lower/more neutral feeling than the Puma and Asics. I feel the softness of the Hurricane as well, and wonder how much of the felt softness of the shoe is coming from the super plush insole? It is quite a few mm's thick. I got a pair of Inov8 Boomerangs that I am going to put in this weekend for some comparison with the stock insoles and see if they really transform the feel of the shoe on the run, they definitely do just walking around. Hoping they make it slightly more responsive and even better able to do some steady/higher tempo long runs, cause the shoe works really good for me already at those efforts to be honest. Can't recommend the Hurricane enough to anyone on the fence about it though!
Tempus 1 wide vs hurricane 24, which is better for someone with wide foot, 225lbs 6'1" and not a runner? Oh, and also with stability need, mainly lateral support. I have an arahi 5, and I hate the medial post feeling (also causes me Achilles pain) Thanks very much for all yall work, you guys rock!!
Usually run in neutral shoes, however looking for a daily trainer that will provide a little more support as I recover from a post tib flare up. Would you recommend either of these two? Any others worth looking into? Thank you!
Very mild stability needs on my side and currently using the Asics GT 2000-12 on "everyday" miles. Mach 6's for up-tempo and Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 for race day...@DoctorsofRunning - I tried a pair of the original Tempus shoes at an expo and they really dug into my arches. Are these any better at serving runners with high arches, but also, some (mild) stability needs?
Considering a cushioned walking pair for my parents. Thoughts on Bondi 9 vs Hurricane 24 vs Puma MagMax for that scenario? Which has better roll through and all day comfort?
Hi. I have both. Of the two, definitely Tempus 2 for uptempo or a race. Tempus 2 (size 10.5, half size up, 200 miles) : - Narrow and presses big toes; Order half size up. Size 10 my usual size was small, and 10.5 slightly too big. I wear size 10.5 with thick socks to fill the space. - Arch medial post is noticeable but once I start running, I don't feel it. - Overpronation on my right foot must be worse. My right foot still overpronates despite the high arch. My left foot fits in Tempus 2 perfectly though. - I ran a full marathon in these. Holds up well for long distance. The bottom of my feet would hurt after 15+ miles during my marathon training. I added a thin insole on top of the original insole for extra layer of cushion, and it did the trick. - The shoes feel slippery on foggy days. Haven't run on wet roads in the rain or after rain. GT2000 13 (size 10, 60 miles); feels very slow with no energy return. Okay for short slow runs. My pace is about 1 min/mile slower with the same effort.

Love your content Matt/DoR. Would love to see a comparison between Tempus 2 and GT-2000 13. 🙏🙏🙏

@oldmaster3578 I had not run in the previous models. But I did order the 24 today. I feel like it will compliment the Tempus
did my first marathon this weekend. Shoe choice fell on the tempus v1. was a really good choice for me

Dang - was really hoping you'd stick with the pumpkin head for the review, but hey.... great comparo as usual. ;)

I would like to see you compare the Hurricane with the 860

I have 4 pairs of Tempus 1 I rotate, I may need to grab 4 more in case they discontinue the 2. I got my last 2 for 30$ each, new.
I just found out you are part of the George Fox faculty. I live in Yamhill County and sometimes work out on your track.
I need a stiff-ish forefoot for my big toe. Which of the two would be better? Thanks.
Considering a cushioned walking pair for my parents.

Wooooooo, spooky 🎃🎃
Really should be Guide vs Hurricane in this comparison *hint hint
Where does the Guide fall within this all? I know it's not the superfoam but as a stability option?
Anyone knows how the Hurricane compares to the Guide 17?
Can you do tempus 2 vs gt2000 13? I am looking for more uptempo or half marathon shoe with support?
