The set of the three string quartets op. 41 by Schumann shows us how this Romantic genius had to "reinvent" the genre after the insuperable masterworks by Beethoven, and the romantic impulse given by Schubert

Schumann's work is under-rated?! Wow! This is news to me. It is completely other story of how many people today are capable of enjoying chamber music and, in particular, music by Robert Schumann. I wonder, if this work was ever played during times of the 3rd Reich in the 3rd Reich. Unlike (Jewish) Mendelsohn- musical sponsor of Schuman(also born in Germany and converted to catholicism), Schumann was true arian as well as Richard Strauss who also lived under the nazi regime and whose music was not played during nazi times.
@@SuperArkleo Schumann's piano work is widely admired, but his string quartets are under-rated.
@@robertburns576 As my student used to say to me: " If you say so". Your statement cannot be proved or disproved. Typically, in this way women wrap their statements. We, men, tend to be more precise.
I agree that it may be underated but difficult to see why.
