The GoYa Quartet Amsterdam was formed by Sylvia Huang, Mirelys Morgan Verdecia, Saeko Oguma and Honorine Schaeffer in 2014.
These four young musicians from respectively Belgium, Cuba, Japan and France, found each other in the orchestra they play in, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and have forged close ties on the basis of musical affinity and deep friendship.
Their collaboration has yielded wonderful opportunities for them in a very short span of time: the GoYa Quartet Amsterdam has already performed many concerts in the Netherlands and Belgium, including in the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. In April 2016, they also went on their first tour through Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
After having won the prestigious Prix de Salon 2015, awarded by the business network of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the GoYa Quartet Amsterdam was able to make recordings of two live performances of all Brahms and Schumann String Quartets.

Ter aanvulling, hulde ook aan de klarinettis. Prachtig samenspel met het kwartet. Mooi ook hoe hij zijn stem gelijk laat zijn met die van de strijkers.
Prachtige uitvoering. Subtiel klein en prettig natuurlijk gespeeld. Mooie dynamiek. Echt op z'n Mozart's zou je bijna denken, misschien is dat ook wel zo. Hulde en dank.

Coming back to listen to this again and struck anew by the excellence of this performance. In every place where a performer is exposed, the tone sings. In so many other performances the first violin lines in the third movement sound thready and anemic. Not here. All four are wonderful players and they're so strong as an ensemble.
Approaching the end of the first movement (say 7:30), you should listen to the cello when it starts that fatal rhythm that will conclude the piece. Well done madam!

Opera densa e complessa, nella quale Brahms guarda a Haydn e Mozart attraverso lenti che, in modo sorprendente, giocano con il linguaggio classico, lo reinterpretano, talvolta lo distorcono e lo forzano. Una scrittura moderna e non così facile all'ascolto, nella quale Brahms esibisce una sorta di neoclassicismo ante litteram. Esecuzione magnifica da parte di queste bravissime musiciste.
