Most boys dream to become a pilot and so did I. I somehow lost the dream after high school and became an architect. I have never been sorry for this decision as it is an extremely exciting and rewarding career. I think I would have become very bored with twitching dials and monitoring instruments.
First of all: many congratulations. Secondly: free tip from a 12.000hr captain: do not forget to also FLY the machine without autopilot in approach from time to time. Keep those manual skills high in case you need them. This was a clear sky with excellent meteorological conditions. Use these conditions to fly the machine whenever possible. Too many accidents have happened because pilots lost the simple hand flying skills. Anyhow, the focus lies on your achievement of becoming a captain. Enjoy it, like the dentist says, you are a priviledged person. Cherish it! Happy landings captain!

this warms my heart. the start, when they put on the stripes, he looks at the guy on the left so happy, excited, his face the textbook definition of happiness..especially when he laughs and looks down, trying to hide the tears! (0:08) . So nice to see. The senior check captains either side of him look so proud and it looks like these guys have worked together and been friends for years! The flying part is great, fantastic landing. Im sure some ppl wonder why its so silent like someones in a mood or something..it really isnt. its a sterile cockpit. Below 10,000 feet, theres no talk about anything other than the aircraft and flight. Congrats. I always wanted this buy sadly let down medically.

Congratulations Captain. I couldn't begin to understand the complexities of piloting, but I love airplanes and flight in general. I ALWAYS thank the crew when deplaning for getting us to our destination safely. I've always wondered how difficult it would be to transition from right to left with the reversal of the yoke and throttle positions, not to mention reorienting to all the other switches and knobs. Even the difference in visual perspective from right to left seat must be an adjustment. I assume some of this reorientation takes place in a simulator. In any case, best to you in your travels and accomplishments, and thanks for sharing the experience.
Yes, you are absolutely right. In the first few simulator flights, there are exercises that focus on getting used to the left side for about it. This is followed by about 40 hours of simulator training. The left side is really different from a perspective point of view. Thank you very much for your interest and comment.💫
