Wednesday morning drive in Cairo Egypt from the wealthy island of Gezira (surrounded by the Nile River) to the Giza Pyramids.
Route: goo.gl/maps/xAo9F8Ci6riqYCap8 .
Cairo, Egypt’s sprawling capital, is set on the Nile River. At its heart is Tahrir Square and the vast Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities including royal mummies and gilded King Tutankhamun artifacts. Nearby, Giza is the site of the iconic pyramids and Great Sphinx, dating to the 26th century BC. In Gezira Island’s leafy Zamalek district, 187m Cairo Tower affords panoramic city views.

Cairo is the capital of Egypt and the largest city in the Arab world. Its metropolitan area, with a population of over 20 million, is the largest in Africa, the Arab world, and the Middle East, and the 6th-largest in the world. Cairo is associated with ancient Egypt, as the famous Giza pyramid complex and the ancient city of Memphis are located in its geographical area. Located near the Nile Delta, Cairo was founded in 969 AD by the Fatimid dynasty, but the land composing the present-day city was the site of ancient national capitals whose remnants remain visible in parts of Old Cairo. Cairo has long been a centre of the region's political and cultural life, and is titled "the city of a thousand minarets" for its preponderance of Islamic architecture. Cairo is considered a World City with a "Beta +" classification according to GaWC.
Cairo has the oldest and largest film and music industries in the Arab world, as well as the world's second-oldest institution of higher learning, Al-Azhar University. Many international media, businesses, and organizations have regional headquarters in the city; the Arab League has had its headquarters in Cairo for most of its existence.
With a population of over 9 million spread over 3,085 square kilometers (1,191 sq mi), Cairo is by far the largest city in Egypt. An additional 9.5 million inhabitants live in close proximity to the city. The Cairo Metro is one of the only two metro systems in Africa (the other being in Algiers, Algeria), and ranks amongst the fifteen busiest in the world, with over 1 billion annual passenger rides. The economy of Cairo was ranked first in the Middle East in 2005, and 43rd globally on Foreign Policy's 2010 Global Cities Index.

...and the Pyramid complex didn't open to visitors until 8AM. Video started around 6AM. A unique drive anyway!
Go to Arizona USA please
Egypt's history is a hoax, the British built Giza in the 1800s. The real Biblical "Egypt" is actually Mizraim, which is in a different location and is of a different culture. True story.
In this country some cars have another license plate under their own and that second license plate is from Europe because they import cars from European countries like Germany, by the way, will you make a video of driving through Spain? It is better than Egypt, Spain is more like the USA the streets are cleaner, there are white people and it is a first world country, another thing, do you take your own car to each country you drive? because that costs a lot of money and also people must look at you a lot because you have a license plate and a car different from the rest, better to rent a vehicle is cheaper, greetings.
Good job, well done
@@JesusXXL Go to Spain where the people are white instead of going to these third world garbage countries. Not racist at all .
21:04 Damn, the silhouettes of those nearly 5000 year old megastructures looming in the distance, is such an awesome sight, found nowhere else in the world.
The one thing that neither footage nor a thousand pictures could tell you are the inhabitants of this city, and indeed all of Egypt. The most hospitable, resilient, life-loving, and gracious people you could ever meet anywhere. I love Egypt and its wonderful people.
People parked all over the side of the road and walking across a freeway. Wow!! No speed limit?? Those people are really going fast and then have to slam on their breaks. I could not drive there, my nerves are shot just watching the video!!
21:43 Ah the cradle of civilization and the cradle of the worst pull-up ever.
lol
Yeah the Egyptian driving test is a joke 💯
السواقة عندنا كله بالحب 😆Don't be surprised, most of them don't care about the driving instructions
Beautiful, but looks nuts driving over there at times
He turn left and just after he did turn signal on left LOL
I guess there aren't many driving footage from Egypt. Wow. Thanks! Salute from Italy

you need to visit as soon as The Grand Egyptian Museum opens, J didn't catch it on camera but it was literally right there on the right at 20:56, when the construction concludes, you can walk from The Grand Egyptian Museum to the Giza complex on foot, they will divert the cars to an underground tunnel sometime in 2021, right around when the museum opens
I highly recommend that you visit during the museum opening ceremony, or soon after. and after Covid of course
I think when I finally get to Egypt I will hire a bus when I want to go somewhere and I will sit in the back seat.
Dont you like looking at slums?
Very interesting videos from Cairo! Very atmospheric, as he was driving. Thank you for the trip, I'm waiting for the next ones.
The pyramids are magnificent but with the unmarked roads and crazy drivers, one might not survive the drive to see them.
Egypt always looks like the pharaohs will be back soon
Gives me the creeps but amazing

Eyy, Alex’s where it’s at!
Cairo is very simil to Birmingham...noo? NO for dimension s but urbanistic
Ancient Egypt, great place to visit. Awesome footage
Finally, we see the Pyramids. They are how I expected and as impressive as legends suggest.
THANK YOU for recording all the trips and drives. I LOVE your long drive videos for treadmill and for meditation!
No lane markings and people standing in the street? Safety must be a afterthought there. Enjoyed the unique ride anyway.
Not all places like this.
Look, There is a new cairo - 6th October city - Heliopolis City - Nasr City, Tahrir Square and so many beautiful places to visit (With traffics rules). There is a part of cairo, Giza & Alexandria have a dirty places.
So that doesn't mean that Egypt is a ugly or not. Because Egypt (including Cairo) is a very big city. If you don't like it, go to other countries.

@@KiroRamyOriginal Not all places are like that, thank God, but let's be honest this scenery is very familiar to Egyptians anywhere on the map, and it's just a hot mess and very dangerous for everybody involved.
@@Joe-ve9tz It's just a part of it. Don't worry, Egypt is very safe to travel as long as you stick to certain destinations, work with a reputable local tour operator, and be a smart traveller
There were lane markings, but they fade away quickly in Egypt...

You know when you travel to a new city in which you are keen to see a particular landmark? You reach the airport and then the hotel but you haven't seen that landmark yet, although you can feel being so close to it and an anticipation of that first sight builds up. Then maybe the next day you take a taxi or public transport to drive towards that landmark. After some particular turn your eyes can suddenly make out the outline of it in the distance and you get all excited! Gradually you get closer to it and it becomes clearer and clearer and all the more real and majestic until you are staring at it from upclose and you can't quite believe that you are actually there and seeing it for real? Well, the final few minutes of this video give those feels so strongly regarding the pyramids in such a real way that you can really feel as if you are actually there, experiencing it yourself! Thanks J Utah for making this for us!
Thank you for drive. Wonderful Pyramyds. 🌟👁

Cairo seems like a blast! Love the view of the Pyramids appearing in the distance and your drive past them gives a real sense of their size better than any image I have seem before.
Whoever's in charge of town-planner seems to have given up though... 😁
15:41 You'll never see this on the L.A. Freeway!
True, this is soothing and relaxing
Excellent video - definitely the most interesting and nicely shot of the driving videos I've seen from Cairo. Thank you for uploading this.
Wow! The place is so great! so many buildings! Thank you so much for sharing this! :)
Of course, the Pyramids comes into mind. Nice drive. I see the infrastructure, buildings are old, see lots litter on the streets. There seems to be a dust, or washed out look to everything. Of course the city is built from the desert. The highway road looks like it could be really slippery when wet. But Old city I know. :))
Thank you for the great videos, I grew up in Cairo, left in 83, never had a chance to get back.
Don't back, this country is dirty now, all infrastructure and logistics are dilapidated. A lot of people arrested for their political views
You’re lucky lol
@Youssef Tamer If you love the government so it's your problem
Wow! Amazing! So beautiful.
Just beautiful, never stop what you are doing !
Im not gonna lie, I just wanted to see the Pyramids

Yes! But since the whole video wasn't that big, I took the chance and watched all of it. Really liked it, despite the traffic being worst than in Brazil.

Вот это да а я думал Лада ушла из Египта
Ha. I remember your reply to my comment on your other Cairo video when you said you thought the drivers there were okay. I had to laugh at the driver around 22:00 minutes, near the pyramids, who drives straight across all lanes, and makes you brake hard. You were so calm. 😆

cairo may not be one of the cleanest or safest or best organised cities in the world, but I gotta admit it is still incredibly beautiful, the whole city seems to cohere to one big wabi sabi golden beige aesthetic
