I bought the SNE 497 and then stripped it of the cheap and nasty bracelet/clasp shroud and eventually bezel insert, replaced them all with quality stainless steel and now have a really good looking watch. Cost £200 extra but it's still much better than the Prospex saturation diver Tuna's £1,500 price tag (which I believe comes on the exact same bracelet/clasp) ok so it doesn't have a day complication but at least the date and crown are aligned besides I generally know what day it is. Thanks for posting, very interesting.

I recently purchased the Seiko PADI Tuna SBBN039 limited edition 700pcs from SeiyaJapan. I truly love the watch looks great, wears well on my 8 inch wrist and the silicon band is incredibly comfortable. I see that Seiya has the SBDN021 in stock, I may look at purchasing this watch. Are there bezel protectors compatible with this model? I see that it has a smaller diameter than the SNE541 or similar. The 46.7 models are compatible with custom metal covers, but this model I'm not sure.

COOL design! But I hate plastic on analog watches and at this price point I think a SEL bracelet is a must.

kamiljp Seiko is so discrete in their explanations regarding trending, but honestly, they confuse me when it comes to decision making. I'll also say that I think their quality is dropping down, intentionally. also i was expecting the prospex label to bring a more comprehensive build to their watches (SEL for example). I'd ask maverick to comment on that, he's touched more seiko's than I have.
one other thing is that no matter what, anything seiko makes will be adored. it just has that kind of community lore...

nice review,i got mine SBDN023 today.it felt really low with rubber strap and when i put a black nato it gave it considerable height and the desired tuna look.

David Kramer I wouldn't say Wenger is a better brand holistically. although you can make a statement about it's sister company Victorinox, which makes phenomenal watches at a reasonable price point. But Wenger and victorinox are mid range price points and offer either quartz or swatch-level ETA automatic movements.
what makes your question interesting is that Seiko and Citizen spans low to mid to high range watch markets (citizen might just stay low to mid). If you're looking for kinetic and solar movements, those two are really the only ones doing it well in the watch space (excluding casio).
If I were going diving, seiko. If I wanted a solar, citizen. If i watch an overall every day watch, I'd go wenger.
