Eventually most of us watching this video will own some kind of seiko dive watch and this one is better than most😎 great video could do w out all the commercials
I just received this watch today after buying it brand new, in the box, on eBay for $220. Pictures don’t do this watch justice, definitely looks better in the metal. I’ve heard about Seiko lume being the best, and this watch almost blinds you! I didn’t care for the bracelet that came with it even before I bought it, so I’ve ordered both a better looking, better quality metal bracelet and a very different kind of NATO strap that goes well with this color. I watched most all of the RUclips videos regarding this watch, and appeared to me that some of the secondhand didn’t line up with the indexes very well. (It’s hard to tell because they usually don’t hold the watch square with the camera for very long.) At least on the one I bought, the second hand lines up perfectly with the indices as I had hoped, because I would have sent it back if they were very much out of sync. The bezel feels good to me, though this is my first dive watch. I’m looking forward to swimming laps with it tomorrow (I swim for 1/2 hr 3 mornings a week.) I am happy to add this Seiko solar to my collection! 😃
@@hanigharaibeh6002 It's not cheap nor necessarily "light" but it does leave a little to be desired. I own one of these and that's actually my ONLY complaint, the bracelet. Buy I simply don't like the aesthetics of the polished steel on it, and prefer brushed stainless steel. Fortunately the bracelets are super easy to swap and with the 20mm lugs there's tons of aftermarket options available! You can often find these for about $220 online (just watch for counterfeits). If bought from a reputable retailer I'd HIGHLY recommend it 👍👍
I bought it a few days ago ... in fact, it was the last piece that was available. Buying it at a very discounted price! and I have to admit it was a really good deal! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I got mine about two weeks ago. Great watch with the exception of the stock bracelet - I'm not find of the shiny center section. I finally broke down and used a scotch brute pad to go to work on the bracelet. It actually did a great job of making the center section match the brushed look of the rest of the bracelet.
It's not, and it's actually better for diving as sapphire tends to be a but brittle. I beat the hell out of mine and have for years - no scratches yet!
Tumb up for a very good review and presentation of those most important things that a potential buyers are interested in. In Europe, I can't find it below 300€ (around 330$) while importing from the States or elsewhere where the prices are lower, would entail vat and taxes, making it pointless to import. In any case, great to see it on your wrist too, but I have the impression that, although it is 44mm in diameter, the watch looks small on your hand. What is your wrist size? I'm thinking of buying one for me and my 7 inch wrist should be fine for 44mm I think. Also, I can't help myself asking, if you don't mind, what is that thing of patriotic watch that you've mentioned few times? Colours, red and blue or PADI reference? If colours, then its odd, since oh so many flags in the world proudly have these three too. Russia for example, UK, France to name the few. I love those colours on this watch though, I thing that it contributes to its overal apealing look and aesthetic. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Cheers
This is a Fantastic watch! However, I didn’t feel like it was large enough for my 7.5 inch wrist. Any recommendations on another Blue Diver that is bigger that looks like this model?
I had the same issue at Macy's TWICE..the first time the lady destroyed the watch and i asked for my money back..the second time at a different location i asked the lady 3 times if she could size it cus SEIKOS can be a pain in the butt when it comes to sizing the bracelet..she assured me that she could..well an hour and 27 minutes later she asked if I could come back in the morning.after telling her no I asked for my money back and she refunded me..even after she said once we size it there's no refund..i said to myself..bullshit..u mess that watch up u better call security or give me my money back..but since then I finally found a Macy's where the broad actually knows how to size a seiko bracelet and pretty darn fast too..just thought ID share that
Same experience with Macys smh! Out of four macys that are within 60 miles of me, only one had a competent enough sales man to properly size and center a seiko bracelet. Heck, the last time i got a watch bracelet done at macys a new guy with NO experience messed up my band…….macys in general sucks at being an actual jeweler but the are an authorized dealer so yeah.
I am currently interested in purchasing one of these, second hand, locally, here in Honolulu. One concern is the inside diameter of the bracelet. My wrist on the slimmer side. Is the bracelet able to be modified for a slimmer wrist size? Also, what is the list price as new? The watch advertised here, is $300 firm. Thank you!
Very nice review. Covered the basics without going too in dept. I am strongly considering buying this watch. What exactly do you mean by 'tough looking watch'?
Just an opinion here to contribute, it's hard to consider the watch on a 20mm bracelet. I had the same issue with the SSC. I think it gives an appearance of top heavy.
Hello and keep on the very good videos!!!One question...Between this seiko prospex padi solar and citizen eco drive promaster BN 0151-17L???A want to buy one of them...What do you think???
I actually had to send this Seiko back as it wasn't holding a charge for some reason. I have NEVER had an issue with the Citizen, plus I think it's just an overall better looking watch.
great review...love what seiko is doing with the whole padi line.. I have the padi turtle..the kinetic gmt tuna and had preordered the padi marine master..that one is a limited edition.. I like the 2 solar models they have..the one in this review and the limited edition titanium version. but can't see any true difference other than one being stainless and the other being titanium. .any input on that?? also seiko is coming out with a padi sumo and tuna..I believe they are on preordered status and both are gonna be limited editions I believe. as you can tell I got badly bitten by the padi bug..lol
Thank you! I would love to review your PADI Marinemaster when you get it in...think about it. Yeah there are two solar versions of this watch and they're pretty much the same other than one being ss and the other titanium. I'm not a huge titanium fan other than the Citizen Satellite Wave watches so it's not worth the premium to me. And I've seen the PADI Sumo and Tuna and will try and get my hands on those as well as the new "Blue Lagoon" Turtle and Samurai coming out in Feb..both of those are limited editions as well. I have definitely been bitten by the PADI bug as well...lol.
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS ..they are such beautiful watches..the blue dial faces just jump out so much..especially the paid turtle. I was under impression that the paid sumo as well as the tuna were not yet available and just for preorder.. I really like both..but the pricing is getting high..seen the padi sumo going for Lil over $850.00.. assume tuna slightly higher..and that would bring it to neighborhood of padi marine master.. I can't wait to see those limited editions you mentioned. seiko is killing it.
I noticed you ignored my request to review your PADI Marinemaster when it gets in...lol. Here's some more info on the Limited Edition Blue Lagoons: www.hodinkee.com/articles/seiko-prospex-blue-lagoon-samurai-turtle-srpb09-and-srpb11
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS. no. I will consider it. just gotta play with it a bit. it's kinda ironic that I sold my midsized omega bond..quartz..to fund another quartz watch..it hit me after I placed order. as far ad what you said about titanium. have you handled or worn the seiko shogun. still one of the most comfortable watches I had ever owned..I kick myself in arse for flipping it along with a gen 1 monster to buy the Mrs a stainless and gold tag huer aquaracer she wanted..kinda bribing my way out of the dog house..lol
just checked out that link..beautiful pieces..but since I have a padi turtle..I'm leaning toward that samurai. .the blue is awsome.. if my wife ever reads my postings..she gonna kill me..had promised no watch purchases for 6 months..but aren't marital promises made to be broken..lol
Depends on your preferences. This one is quartz while seiko 5 automatic. I have 4 automatic and 2 quartz, I like wearing automatic, but sometimes when I see the ticking on quartz watch, it calms my heart. I have this solar and it is a beautiful watch under the sun, and when you combine it with navy blue alpha shark nato strap from blueshark strap,,it looks gorgeus !!
do this model comes in automatic too as i don't likes solar, kinetic or spring drive. I'm interested in buying new monster with cyclop 3 generation. I live in Mumbai India. from where do I buy the monster as I have searched every Seiko shop here. in India usually they have more of dress watch collection compare to diver. there are 2 prospex models officially available here n that too chronograph which I don't prefer. it will be great if you can help with the official seller for monster 3 generation. very recently I got my new Seiko 5. will post you the details soon for the same.
Is this prospex model smaller than the prospex Monster? I want a Seiko diver watch (200mm) but l looked at the Monster on RUclips and think it’s too big for my small wrist.
Also, is this (SNE 435) the same model as the (SNE 549)? Maybe after this release for the inauguration Seiko wanted to keep selling and changed the model number?
I just bought it about for 2weeks. in recently two day, I put it under sunlight for few hours, i found it run fast for about 10 mins, is it normal? shall i need to exchange? thanks.
MAVERICK WATCH REVIEWS thanks, but what i meant was the case,im afraid that it would be too large,im not too concerned about the bracelet as it's interchangeble.

lug to lug measurements and the weight of the watch would be good to know too. Btw I got myself a Seiko Tuna SBBN017. My new favorite watch, a bit smaller than I thought tough. Keep up the good work.
Good review, however, I bought one from Amazon which was a complete disaster. The loupe fell off and the watch can't keep a charge. For solar powered watches Citizen dominates the field.
Why doesent Seiko go one step further and put an automatic movement into that design? It would be an awesome watch even at a few hundred dollars more....I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Because they've already done exactly that! There already exist many dozens upon dozens of auto Seiko dive watches that are actual carbon copies of this one. Seriously, Google "Seiko Dive Watch" and you'll see there's hundreds going back decades now. But on the flip side this is one of a few Seiko Solar PADI's, which means far less selection for those of us who know how much better these actually are - especially for day to day use/non watch-snobbery 😉
Thank you for not making your review of this watch into a review of the political world. My patience has been worn thin by the nonsense that is happening in DC.

Same! Fortunately there's TONS of aftermarket straps and bracelets out there.
Bought one for my b'day next week. Very sharp. Going to pick it up next Thursday
Great looking watch brother. Personally I like the cyclops lens, although many ppl seem to disagree. Prefer automatic, but solar is a close second.
With due respect I believe the movement is V157 not V175 as described in your otherwise excellent presentation video.
You are correct. V157
Great review. The watch looks great but I'm holding off for the Seiko Blue Lagoon Samurai.
Man I saw that the other day too...what a stunner!
According to the Seiko website it should have the caliber v157
do you think that the "HARDLEX CRYSTAL" is a lot more prone to scratches than the saphire crystal?
Absolutely it is more prone to scratching
No … I’ve worn mine on building sites you would have to smash this to scratch it.
It's not, and it's actually better for diving as sapphire tends to be a but brittle. I beat the hell out of mine and have for years - no scratches yet!
Seen them on special so I hope to get one.
Thanks for not talking politics.
You're very welcome :)
Nice watch. I always thought a none chronograph version of that watch would be nice.
Have you seen the SBDN026 ?
Yeah that Seiko/Lowercase colab is hot!
it looks very patriotic for a Japanese watch!
Bought one today at Sam's Club. $220
Great watch for the money❤

They are not. They're hollow, unfortunately

You're not alone in that opinion.

Does it have the V175? Because I saw the ones on eBay and has the V167 movement, Thank you Luis

Oh don't be sorry, I used to think that too but then I realized that I can like other "souless" watches but just prefer automatics.
