      After handling one, my main issue is just how slick they are. Yes, you can swap the panels, and you could even add grip tape to the front and back strap...but I feel like you should have a bit more bite out of the box.

    What I would love to have you compare this to is the Alpha Foxtrot S15. They have their newer Optic Cut w/rail model, extended & threaded bull barrel that is polished DLC as well as the slide. Their frame is also 1-piece billet aluminum with reinforced steel rails (which differs from Kimber I think). The grips are milled directly into the frame in-turn causing the double stack 1911 to be thinner than a single stack 1911. As you probably know takes Shield Arms Gen 1,2 & 3 magazines along with Glock 43,43x,48 & all aftermarket equivalents (i.e. PSA dagger micro 15rnd magazines). The S15 is staying consistent at $1500 and i believe may be a better buy.?.?.? Would love to see a side by side in all categories. I know the S15 is extremely accurate. Great video as usual! 🤙

    I handled one at a gun store in my state. The trigger is oddly heavy compared to say a Canik Rival or P10C, and the grip texture is nonexistent. I will say that it feels good in the hand, but the fact they went the proprietary mag route on what could have been a Mecgar mag, and they also chose not to give the buyer proper front and backstrap checkering is a bit of a confusing choice. At minimum, they could have left the edges a bit sharper on the grip...
    The rail should have been there from the start, and I don't think it fixes a gun that was already going to struggle against BUL, Stacc, and soon it will struggle against Tisas, MAC.
    Although the Kimber is a nice size for carry...I will give it that.
    PS. Yes, the trigger is clean though. I also should say that I am comparing it to my managers Wilson EDCX9.

    • @unixfool
      @unixfool 6 месяцев назад +7

      Between the two; MSRP-wise, they are $400 apart. The newer one comes with an ambi safety, rail, better front and rear sights, and an extra mag. That’s a fair increase for all of that.
      Initially I was saying the same as you until I compared the differences.
      What they should’ve done was just add the rail to the first gun and leave it at that. Or; add a rail and ambi safety.
      The problem that folks are gonna have is spending Stacatto money on a Kimber. Someone has already mentioned that in these comments.

    • @RogerBarrera

      This gun with rail is $1700 retail. $600 less than a C2, so not Staccato money and it's full metal frame. If you prefer a full metal frame with single piece grip I'd go this route. If you like grips that be changed out then def go with a Staccto.

    Were you able to co witness the iron sights thru the red dot. As it came to you from the factory. I have the model without the rail. And I'd like to red dot it. I'm asking because I really couldn't get a straight answer from Kimber on if I have to go to suppressor height sights.

      @RogerBarrera  6 месяцев назад +1

      No, I talked about that the end of the video. Sights don't cowitness with the RMR. I'm hoping with the EPS Carry plate I can use the irons or the ones built into that optic at least.

    For that price I rather get a CZ shadow 2 compact or Daniel Defense H9, both cheaper than this Kimber.

      The H9 is unproven...chill.
      Already seen someone shooting it at speed, and it was cutting up his hand due to how low it sat...the slide serrations were acting like a saw.

    For this guns holster on your website do we go under 1911 More Discrete or 2011 More Discrete?

    • @RogerBarrera
      @RogerBarrera  3 месяца назад +1

      It’ll be 2011, even though it has a round trigger guard. The outer edge of their trigger guard works better with the 2011 holster than the 1911.

    So since QVO has Kimber's ear!... What I always wanted from a "2011" (9MM) is a Kimber "Ultra" size ( 3 inch barrel ) KDS9C! Keep the FULL size grip though! In other words... please excuse me... Glock 19 it! Keep the rail. Keep the ambi-safety. I'm Old school though... I WANT a grip safety! I believe Para Ordnance ( Are they still around? ) made a 1911 like that. I don't know how balanced the gun would be but, I imagine, being that the gun is all metal AND having a FULL size grip would help(?)! Maybe shave the full size grip down a little... BUT NOT TOO MUCH! ( KEEP the bobtail though! ) Kimber's Ultra 1911 size grip is just a little too short! The main thing I hate in EDC guns is being too heavy! What do you guys think?! ( Go easy on the grip safety though! )

    I’m a single stack 45 guy. All my 1911s are the way they were made 100 years ago. But now I understand why the younger generation wants 9mm. They want to shoot as fast as possible. No offense but such a waste of ammo! Put one or two shots where it counts and move on. You don’t need to empty your weapon on the target.

  • @Bryan-1980
    @Bryan-1980 Месяц назад

    I bought one and put 3300 rounds through it in its first weekend at the range. Definitely NOT happy with the gun at all. I had to fit it with a properly fit KKM bull barrel and and tighten up the slide to frame fitment and the optics screws stripped out while trying to remove them to put on a dot. This gun and the QC at Kimber are both TRASH 🗑️ I sent over 50 detailed pictures and they basically told me, sorry about your luck 👎🏻👎🏻 I’ll never spend another penny with Kimber as long as I live. Lesson learned.
