It's so funny when merphy does videos where she has to hold up a lot books, her book shelves looks more and more disheveled as the video goes on 😂
😂
Daniel's disheveledness has spread onto Merphy's shelves
@@giuliakenway6500 It's Merphy's fault, she introduced him to us.👌🤔😁😁
I'm not going to pretend I didn't have Daniel in mind when I chose the one word disheveled 😅
I've been following Merphy for too long, at this point I feel like I've absorbed the Gentlemen Bastards series into my subconscious without reading the books
It is a great read though. I can't recommend the audiobooks.
I knew that M was warning us about multiple Locke references right off the bat.
The audiobook is bad?
@@karlholde6901 The voices are wrong to me. I tried the first one but it was so annoying. Give it a try you may be different.
I finally read the first book last month because of her videos and I thought it was a lot of fun! I'm going to start the second one soon.

0:00 - Intro

28:30 - Monty Python/Robin Hood style funny [beyond HGtG!?!]
I think I am going to start Discworld. Thanks Merphy [and maybe give Gentleman Bastards book 2 a try... I guess..... ].
Reading a discworld book now. This would be the third one I’ve read and can confirm they are worth it!
This is so fun. I’m already spending way too much time reading but somehow this makes me want to read more???
For cozy books I can heartily recommend Diana Wynne Jones books. They feel like a warm blanket, that keeps you safe. And L.M. Montgomery's Anne series. I love them! They are so warm, so welcoming, but have a conversation about death, friendship, love. "Anne with an E" show didn't do it justice at all. I couldn't even power through it when I understood that they removed all the sentimentality and rose tinted perception of the world for the "gritty" stuff.
And for horror series that, admittedly, not so scary, but more spooky - Lockwood & co series from Jonathan Stroud. It almost always a story about a haunted house and it has really great atmosphere and premise.
For grim books, there is Abhorsen trilogy, that, I think, is not talked about enough. It is grim, it is about death, it is about nercromants and it has one of the most interesting magic systems that I've read about.
For the nature I can fully recomend the series by Nahoko Uehashi "The beast player". For some strange reason it is classified as YA (maybe because it starts when she's only 11 or 12), but it certainly is not. It is about a girl who wants to be the one to tend to the fiercest animals. It is about the connection between a human and an animal.
Also for the nature "Nausica of the Valley of the Wind" in manga form is fantastic (and is actually written by Miyazaki), but actually almost any of Miyazaki films will envoke that feeling that you have when you're in the wilds. He is an enviromentalist and starts his day by going to the beach near his house and picking up the trash, so it won't go into the sea.
Merphy, there is an anime adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo called Gankutsuou. It's told from Albert's point of view. It's a treat. It was one of my favourite anime back in the day. I'll probably rewatch it soon.
I was going to make a comment about this! it's a really great series that makes the story work in a completely different setting
@@aliciaz6224 I might read the book before watching the anime this time. It has been so long since I watched the series and I never read the book.
I think Gankutsuou is the most beautiful anime I have ever seen. I love it and have seen it twice.
It's nice seeing the show still getting some love ❤️
For other anxious people who want to sit on a mountain and read about friendship and cry over characters you love, I'd highly recommend the manga "Skip and Loafer". Every book is like a warm hug
“A Psalm for the Wild Built” the follow up “A Prayer for the Crown Shy” and “The Galaxy and the Ground Within” All 3 are by Becky Chambers and are low stakes, warm and fuzzy. The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune is also lovely. All of theses books are great reads and leave you feeling like you’ve just spent some time with good friends 😊
I remember buying the ember blade back in 2019 just because the cover art just caught my attention. Fast forward 4 years later, I finally actually read it, and I loved it.
I did the exact same thing but still havnt read it yet 😅
@@jaredalexander3130 Haha, same. I'll try reading it this year as I keep hearing great things about it
It is probably my favorite book ever. I loved it so much
So glad I'm not the only one who takes years to get to some books in my tbr pile lol
We're not even gonna mention all my ebooks 💀
Ahhh thank you so much for answering my recommendation request and it’s the first question too! My husband and I just started watching Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and it got me in the mood for wanting to read books just like it so I haven’t read ANY of these!! Will be requesting all from my library. Thank you so much Merphy and also everyone who commented with their own recommendations! ❤
I'm so happy you brought up Dark Matter!! It was one the first books i read when i got back into reading. Every person i recommended it to ended up loving it.
For the nature request, Anne of Green gables, The Secret Garden, and Heidi are great for ghis
There's a release in July, Dark Water Daughter, that I got to read an arc of and it also fits the Pirates of the Caribbean theme so well!! Pirates, pirate hunting, magical ships, mischievously unreliable allies, a romantic subplot- it's so much fun!
Completely agree with Red Seas under Red Skies is very POTC
For the tolkein-esque immersive prompt I'd also add Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams.
I do highly, highly recommend The Tapestry series by Henry H. Neff. It's practically criminal how few people I know have read it. A friend of mine from highschool took a copy from her at the time boyfriend and gave it to me saying "hey this seems like something you'd be into," and oh boy was she right.
Excellent 5 book series with a lot of touches of fantasy and science fiction, with the majority of it based in Celtic/Gaelic folklore and mythology. It focuses on Max McDaniels as he gets accepted into Rowan Academy, the last remaining school of magic, and has a lot of themes pertaining to the personal sacrifices that must be made and the prices you have to pay for heroism. There's quite a few others, but I'll save those for later on if it's ever read on the channel.
The first book can feel a *lot* like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter, but by the second book it really falls into its own identity. By the end of the second, almost all comparisons I had were completely out the window, and I definitely recommend giving them a shot.
Thanks for this rec. Just borrowed it from the library because you're convincing.
100%. Goes so far and beyond in the development; never expected the topics that came up.
I love that you've promoted self-pub authors like Will Wight and Michael J Sullivan. The world of Cradle spans 12 books (not 18) and the last one comes out June 6th. The world of Riyria is still being written - beyond the first few series (in publishing order, mainstream published) Sullivan has also run vastly successful kickstarter campaigns to finish writing them.
I am just in love with her expressions while she explains anything and also she has a very likeable face structure or maybe it is her specs.
I’m currently reading Don Quixote and loving it so far; the absurd situations he gets himself into 😂
Hopefully u can get to answer the rest of the responses in one of your future videos and maybe even do something like this once every few months or so because this is a great video for readers everywhere. I got so many new books/series added to my list to read, but would also love to hear of more.
Thanks as always!
I both hate and love these videos. I already have 300 novels in my TBR and I just added a dozen more!
Merphy mentioned Kings of the Wyld???!! Yeaaaaa babbyyy!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I had a lovely time reading KotW
@@SaltySeabug I love how Nicholas Eames linked each character to a role in a rock band.
>Gabriel is likened to the lead singer of a band.
>Clay is that guy on bass
>Moog is comparable to the keyboardist of the band.
>Matrick is likened to a rock drummer.
>Ganelon is similar to a rock guitarist.
6:20 That SHADE on Name of the Wind’s limbo status sent me. We live for sassy Merph.
Been following One Piece weekly for 15+ years but finally started The Lies of Locke Lamora (24 pages in) and I'm so excited!
I love Red Seas Under Red Skies so much. Cant wait to read those books again.
absolutely, it was just a ton of fun
I read Lies of Locke Lamora in April and really enjoyed it, after this video I’m so excited to start Red Seas soon
I'm rereading that one currently! Still as much fun as the first time (and also. I forgot a lot lmao)
I don't think I can agree with what you said about Death Note. Light's arc isn't from good to bad, it's from bad to worse. He kills because he has god complex and twisted view on the world. He thinks of evil doers as a disease that only he can cure by becoming the absolute ruler. He is ruthless and ready to sacrifice anyone and everyone as long as it will allow him to reach his goal. There is no goodness in him, at least not from the moment he takes the Death Note in his hands and he only gets worse as the story progress.
Yes this is correct. He goes from weak to strong but his underlying morality didn't change. To many people take cowardice for goodness
We didn’t get much of an example of his morality before the death note, except from what I recall, he was going to try to find the owner of the notebook, thinking someone had lost it. He also willingly helped his sister with her schoolwork.
I think he started off as a decent enough person who was planning to become a detective like his dad, right? Or something in law enforcement. Just an average person who turned evil when presented with ultimate power.
Anyone got any book recommendations for High Fantasy set in space? (So I guess High Fantasy/Sci-Fi). Think Lord of the Rings meets Battlestar Galactica (sorry for using movie/tv references). Something maybe set in space but they rely less on technology and more on magic.
I'm trying to get into video game design and creating my own games. I have some ideas already but in very early planning stages for something in this vein and looking for sources that could help inspire further world building or see how someone else tackled this mash-up of genres. Also open to comic books, graphic novels, games, movies and tv show suggestions if anyone has any.
Looking forward to diving into this video. Lots of books I will never have heard of anyways I am sure!
Seconding this request!
I am currently attempting to write a novel vaguely along these lines (magic in space) out of sheer desire to read it and the fact that I haven’t found it much elsewhere, hah.
I think I’ve heard that Gideon the Ninth and the associated series is space fantasy (necromancy in space), but I haven’t read it yet myself so can’t personally verify that.
@@krthompson7519 I'll add Gideon the Ninth to my list. Looks like it could be an interesting read anyways!
Another one that sort of hits on some of these points is the graphic novel series Saga by Brian K. Vaughan. I'm halfway through and it's really good!
@@thejubbzone2374 Oh, Saga looks really interesting! Thank you for the suggestion :D
@@krthompson7519 Enjoy! It's a great read!
Thanks for the answer! I guess I will start Malazan
I only wish the kittens were talked about more in Red Seas Under Red Skies, justice for REGAL!!!!!!!
Helloe Merphy!
Just wanted to let you know that putting the Title of the Book on the Screen while taling about it would be an immense help! (also author name and publishing date would be nice!)
I'm pretty sure Edmond Dantès would agree that the stint in prison lasted too long as well.
Great video...I'm in a similar boat with you regarding RED RISING. I was a little bored and it was a story I felt I read many times before, only done better.
Name of The Wind is my favorite series. It breaks my heart we may never see it finished. For all that I am grateful for what we have gotten.
I suspect it has to do with time travel and aliens. I think he can only time travel for a short period of time on the lunar calendar. The aliens knew he had potential but wanted him to struggle so they trapped him in a time loop.
I am doing my best to defend his honor. If that means spreading rumors and vanquishing his enemies then so be it.
I'm not sure honestly. I've heard mental health, stress, his attention is elsewhere. I've quit stressing about it. I will reread passages and enjoy what I have. I wish him the best of luck and hope he finishes but I'm not going to hold my breath. It's hard because I truly love the books but the way I see it there are too many great books to put my life on hold due to his not being able to finish. I do know historically he is a very slow writer the first book took over a decade. I don't remember the timeline for the second.
For a dark world, The Demon Cycle series by Peter V. Brett is one I enjoyed.
I would like fantasy reads with more communication between characters that isn't specifically cozy fantasy or romance-centered. Like after the fighting is done or there's breaks between the action I would like to see characters just talk things out and maybe more hugs.
Great Recs! I didn't know about Tress of the Emerald Sea. I've just placed an order and really look forward to reading it.Thanks for doing this list, Merphy!
I would recommend The Poppy War by R F Kuang for the character going from good to evil in a really believable way
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhau also fits the bill pretty well. And the Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin is… a bit more complicated, but does explore similar themes!
I can't believe you're reading Don Quijote. It's a spanish classic that we read in most countries where we speak spanish. We usually read the first chapter and some in the middle at high school, wich many students hate (wich is reasonable jaja), but I personally really enjoyed. Although I've only read Part 1, I want to re-read full some time in the future. I wonder how it is translated to english, it must be really hard considering it's from the XVII´th century.
Please do more of these this was fun!! 💕
For swashbuckling, I'd add on the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. "Pirates" setting plus dragons!
Also, the Aubrey/Maturin series swashbuckles pretty hard and probably covers every other request in this video. It's historical fiction but there's a good case for it being fantasy with the neverending sailing mechanisms as a magic system.
For eco-/nature Overstory is an absolute monument. Interlacing storylines, beautiful writing, even the structure of the book is tree-like. I never felt so knowledgeable about trees as when I finished that book.
Ugh! I love this video, but now I have more books to add to my TBR list and I want to move some of these recommendations to the top. I don't think it will make the books already on the list too happy. :)
A really good humourous fantasy series like Hitchhiker's is The Eyre Affair aka Thursday Next book series
Requesting a book with this criteria: in a gradual disruption of human society that could lead to collapse or extinction event, the protagonist has to choose between saving the world by sacrificing the life of someone they started loving or saving the loved one leading to collapse of the world. Example stories are The Last of Us and Weathering With You.
Maybe try
The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
or The Poppy War by R.F. Kwang
or maybe Malice by John Gwynne
Was just about to suggest the Broken Earth trilogy myself, so instead I’ll second Zach’s suggestion! Though… I think the plot you’re requesting is only fully realized over the course of the whole trilogy, not really in the first novel The Fifth Season.
Also, it’s a pretty off-the-wall suggestion and isn’t a book, but… I think the overarching series plot of Gravity Falls technically fits this description! But I’m pretty sure it isn’t the tone you’re after, hah.
Oh! *The Expanse* by James S.A. Corey might also at least somewhat fit the bill - the first novel *Leviathan Wakes* feels like it, at least? But I’ve only read the first book so far, so I can’t yet speak for the rest of the series. Based on just the first novel, I think that whether the climactic choice is actually deciding the fate of the world depends on how pessimistic and paranoid you are. Personally, I feel like the choice will have major ramifications. 😂
"I'm just a fool who are really bad at finishing things" you and me both, Merph.
Yaaaay, I love the count of Monte Cristo! that is all
Rainy morning. Curled up on my sofa with my teddy and hot coffee. And this video ❤❤❤
I absolutely loved this video!!! So many great recommendations! For the question at 18:45, I highly recommend The Word for World is Forest by Ursula Le Guin. Part of her Sci-Fi series The Hainish Cycle,it’s short but has excellent world building (so it works for that question too lol). It takes place on the planet Athshe, a planet that’s land is almost entirely covered by forests. It explores the native human species that has a deep connection with the forests and nature, and a galactic corporation that comes to the planet to try and deforest the planet for resources. It’s a beautiful book in its exploration of nature, but also explored some heavier themes and discussions too.
I read Kings of the Wyld ten or so books ago and I still regularly think about Moog's humor and the Ettin (Gregor and Dane). I can't wait to get to Bloody Rose.
Highly, highly recommend!
I recommend "The Hungry Tide" for the person who wanted a book that was very nature oriented. Be prepared for a marine mammal biologist and a tropical storm. I loved it
Just bought Lies of Locke Lamora lol I hope this book lives up to the hype
This was such a great video! I now have a fun new list of books!
I'm currently reading the fourth Wheel of Time book and I chuckled when you laughed at saying "weaved". Also, The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorites too. I don't want to spoil the ending, so I won't, but I love it.
Love your book reccs. Please do a part 2!
If you like Hitchhikers and Discworld I would recommend Space Team by Barry J Hutchinson.
I like that there's a nice mix of expected and lesser known pics here.
❤❤❤ she’s lovely… and thanks for the recommendations
A Wizard of Earthsea is the book/series that got me into fantasy when I was in 7th grade. I will shout my recommendation for it at anyone who will listen. LeGuin is amazing, her prose is lush and poetic. And if you like your magic with enough rules to not feel like deus ex machina but loose enough to feel ethereal (it's almost Arthurian in how magic interacts with the world), then this is the series for you.
Commonwealth saga needs a review. 👀 And maybe Altered Carbon. 👀You would love the first for sure.
The Count of Monte Cristo is my favorite book of all time (finished it last October), and I haven't even read the Robin Buss translation everyone loves. I did end up buying the version you have here (which is the Buss translation), so I'll re-read it possibly later this year. 🙂
Merphy is absolutely correct, there is nothing "beyond" Douglas Adams ...but just a few steps below him is Christopher Moore. Fool was a pretty fun and bawdy take on a sort of medieval tale from the jester's perspective. Worth a read if you haven't already.
Hey Merphy! I love these types of videos :)
Oh you should Def finish Riyria my friend! Royce and Hadrian have one of my fav friendships ever, and the little details are AMAZING because Michael always writes his whole series Before the first book is ever published! He is fanatical about there not being plot holes and about being able to drop hints along the way.. I absolutely love all his stuff!
I second this! It might be my favorite series of all time. I love how all the little things add on top of each other to make a bigger picture.
Must Read Books in Fantasy/SciFi/Horror that like pull you into the story from the first pages, the first ones that come to your mind, thx 😊:) maybe a idea for a video about Top 10 of these 3 genres ;)
I’m way late to this video but to the person asking for the bingeable fantasy (since Merphy recommended Theft of Swords) I would very much recommend Michael J Sullivan’s Legends of the First Empire series. It starts with Age of Myth and builds over the course of 6 quick reading books. There is a clear, tense but fun plot, an ancient fantasy world, and a full cast of very vivid characters. Even though it’s set thousands of years before Theft of Swords, the writing feels modern enough to make it an easy read but not so modern that it takes you out of the world at all. It alternates between perspectives which makes it feel like an even faster more binge-able read. Anyway! Those books got me back into binge reading again so I highly recommend!
Merphy, since you read One Piece, I'm curious if you'll think about reading Naruto and Bleach, because One Piece, Naruto and Bleach are grouped together by the anime/manga community and those 3 series have been called the Big 3 since those 3 popularized anime/manga in the 2000s and were competing neck and neck in manga sales back then. Also Bleach and Naruto have the inner demon trope while in the case of Bleach is sometimes not always a focus is something you should be interested in. Another series that Subverts the inner demon trope and is a modern series you should check is Jujutsu Kaisen.
If you're looking for another shojo to read, try Nana, its good. Yet at the same pretty underrated.
You should do a contest with your subscribers where the winner gets to send you a list of their current library (physical or audible), you review it, and then you make recommendations to that person based on what books they've liked in the past.
I feel like I've already purchased all the books that interest me and now I'm in a slump and don't know what to read next! For reference, incase anyone wants to be a good Samaritan and make recommendations for me, my favorite books are: Harry Potter, Creepy Hollow, The Luxe, Gemma Doyle, The Diviners, the ninth house, any Karen Slaughter book, a few standalones (where the crawdads sing, the orphans tale, circe, luckiest girl alive, the afterlife of Holly chase)
Oh my goodness, that cover for Dawn is STUNNING!!
"Instead of just 'boo'" HAHAHAHA I can't with you, Merphy 😂😂
❤📚❤️...I added On Stranger Tides to my Goodreads "want to read" list, thanks!
For the person at 18:40 I also really liked The Valley of Secrets by Charmian Hussey. Not super popular but EXACTLY what they described
Many of these are books that I am interested in so great recs!
For the "sit on a mountain and cry into my tea" request, I'll mention an obscure YA entry I got at a scholastic book fair years ago, called "How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found" by Sara Nickerson. Really unique writing style (that even includes a few comic pages dotted here and there!), really unique story set in the Pacific NW, and interesting pair of protagonists! Track a copy down!
Edit: Oh, and for the recommendation about a good character that turns bad, if you don't mind comics, there is the Green Lantern storyarc called Emerald Twilight! Hal Jordan is full villain by the end, and it's wild! It actually even continues into Zero Hour, but things get a little confusing there.
20:29 "The Troop" by Nick Cutter! Horror story on an island with some mystery element to it.
I love this kind of video!
For the nature one, I'd recommend Uprooted by Naomi Novik. Great atmosphere, nature and fairy tale vibes.
Love that book! Spinning Silver by the same author is also fantastic.
@@redeyedzhaan Yeah, I definitely want to read that. I've heard it has better characters than Uprooted which sounds great, since the main character in Uprooted wasn't really my cup of tea. Still enjoyed Uprooted despite that though.
I aspire to read many of the books listed here, Merphy! So thank you for these recs! For a book that deals with environmental issues, I would personally recommend Neal Stephenson's Termination Shock or maybe something that is Solarpunk (I believe A Psalm for the Wild-Built would fall into this category).
I think that picking up Well of Ascension instead of Final Empire is a redemption for picking Hero of Ages in the Well of Ascension review.
Matthew Ward's trilogy series has several of its main characters move from antagonist to protagonist and vice versa. It is one of the few series I read that does this.
Highly recomend finishing Theft of Swords triology. Royce and Hadrian are just...the best. The author also plays with fantasy tropes in fun ways, which becomes most apperent in the last book, but definitely threads in all of them. And foreshadowing. The story seems episodic, at first, but everything is connected. And the more revelations about Royce, the more he grows on you. ❤
I think its worth mentioning for the Pirates of the Caribbean lookalike is The Mermaid, the Witch and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall, romancewise it's really similar.
For one piece lovers I'll always recommend Discworld. It can't go wrong
I often feel like I'm the only one who didn't care that much for the Red Rising series, lol. It was fine, but I keep seeing it on top 10 lists, and I just don't understand.
… i am a manga reader ( also HEAVY one piece fan) that literally JUST picked up The Eye of The World yesterday because a coworker recommended it to me. AND NOW I SEE THIS VIDEO? i’m literally about to go back to reading it rn
A great tropical book recommendation is Hurricane Summer by Asha Brookfield! It takes place in Jamaica 🌴☀️
For the nature/environmental book that is not nonfiction I would recommend House of Many Gods by Kiana Davenport, I just finished it and LOVED it, will be posting a review for it on my own channel in the next month (my schedule is a little backed up right now)
Wow Name of the Wind and Ember Blade in the same segment. When I was 10 I had not even read any high fantasy novels, and I was looking at these two in the bookstore (no idea what I was looking at). An old lady came up to me and recommended I pick Name of the Wind because it was apparently really good and no one knew what would happen in the third book (and haha that still has NOT RELEASED ROTHFUSS). I ended up picking Name of the Wind... 7 years later.
Anyway it was absolutely brilliant. I may have to go read Ember Blade now. Sorry for the random spiel
I've only watched the anime for Death Note, but I'm not sure how well it fits the prompt, does the manga begin differently or is it just a perspective thing? because from my point of view there was something off about Light from the beginning and he switched to showing his true colours very early on in the series, instead of having an actual development from "good" to "bad"
the manga is overall very similar to the anime. I agree with you and i think rather than going from good to bad, Light went from controlled/logical in his choices to more out of control and chaotic.
If you love Hitchhiker's or Pratchett I would recommend Tom Holt.
If you ever do another video can you recommend dystopian books like the hunger games that have just an amazing storyline and world.
The Age of Myth, a prequel series to the Rirya chronicles she reccomends, is really just magnificent.
A perfect book for the nature request is Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh. That is such an atmospheric novella, and it’s gay too! 19:40
For the 'nature' request I'd recommend Lucy Irvine's 'Castaway'. You can feel the sun on your skin and the sand between your toes. The relationship between the two characters is often antagonistic, but her relationship with the island can be felt through the writing.
Hey! I'm the One Piece reader/novel recommendation asker! Thanks for the recommendations both from you and all the replies I got! Your recommendations aligned with the other replies, and I've picked up The Final Empire so hopefully I'll get through it soon!
I also heard from other sources how much I'd enjoy Wheel of Time so hopefully I'll get to it when I've exercised my reading muscles a little more!
Ive been wanting to read the monk and robot books !
I started with Abercrombie at A Little Hatred too and I feel fine about it.
you are a stronger man than i because i would have absolutely recommended the gentlemen bastards for a slow atmosphering fantasy series
The second I clicked on the video I suspected you'd mention the Gentleman Bastards at some point and I was a 100% sure once you read the First request. It's true tho, it does fit well and is a really nice book too.
I agree with Merphy that nothing has hurt like the Chimera Ant Arc
My own Recommendation if you like legend's and lattes and similar vibes book, please read The Wandering Inn. It is glorious.
this isn't a character going from good to evil, per se, but for the development of a villain from being at least a non-villian, the godspeaker trilogy by Karen Miller is pretty good.
Thank you for your great recommendations. Now I have one for you -- it's a manga & a personal favorite of mine. "Miss Kobiyashi's Dragon Maid". It's a charming slice of life comedy seiries with a light harted mood, found family vibes and slight epic fantasy overtones. Miss Kobiyashi is a lonely & overworked computer programer. One night after a hard day at work Kobiyashi gets extremely drunk, lost in the mountains and then she saves the life of a Chaos dragon bent on the annihilation of all humanity. Now the dragon wants to repay Miss Kobiyashi by becoming her live-in maid. And once you have one dragon living in your tiny apartment, more start showing up. Hijinx ensue.
Just be aware, it has four spinoffs and they all have similar titles to the original series. Make sure you are lokking at the original series if you check it out.
I need more books on antiheroes too!!! I've been looking for sooo long for books where thr character turns good to bad but omg are they hard to find
