@@archlectoryarvi2873 Agree. Either the guy best friend is secretly in love with his female best friend or the guy friend is gay. It’s like there has to be a reason why the guy friend doesn’t like the girl friend and it for some reasons can’t be that the two just aren’t attracted to one another. It’s has to be cause the guy is gay. Wish more books would normalize two straight people of the opposite gender have a platonic relationship that STAYS platonic.

And that one seemed so obvious, too! LotR was the obvious guess from line one, as Daniel discussed, but "Reach Destination one. Set off with a few more companions" strengthened the argument considerably, and ending with rowing and the promise of more walking made it 100% certain that this was books 1 & 2 of The Lord of the Rings, i.e. The books often published as Fellowship of the Ring.

c'mon Daniel, I missed almost every single one because I'm a fake fantasy fan and barely read anything yet, but the "row row row" was a dead giveaway for Fellowship
'Reach first destination. Get a few more companions' and 'Reach second destination. Feast' is also a giveaway for Fellowship

My family went on a vacation into the mountains. My mum read lotr while the rest of the family did some hiking. According to her she hiked more than we did.
I'm nearly 54, and I don't think I've read as many books in my lifetime as you two have probably read in the last 5 years. It's a genuine pleasure to watch young people get excited over the greatest form of entertainment that exists (except a great symphony).

I agree with the Dragon comment.....I picked Wheel of Time for "The Dragon Reborn".....I felt so cheated when I found out it was a title, not an actual shapeshifting dragon :(

Ooh, read The Tears of Artamon by Sarah Ash! Main character is a guy who finds out that one of his ancestors summoned a dragon-demon (called a Drakhaoul) to secure the throne to an icy land, and that subsequently each male heir (the main character) is possessed by this dragon-demon when he becomes King (Lord Drakhaon). It’s VERY VERY GOOD. It’s like Phantom of the Opera meets Wheel of Time meets Dracula. HUGE recommend.

It's so cool how well he's able to find books on his bookshelf. Makes it feel like he's a librarian who will be taking to someone and then beeline to the book that is going to absolutely change their lives. He'd definitely be smirking at them. I hate that I love that imagery.

Having just read Rage of Dragons, Tau does basically nothing but work to improve his skills. It's kind of his whole deal.
I tried to read it but It was for me one of the worst books I've ever read.
@@ohthreefiftyone There wasn't enough time spent building the relationship between the protagonist and his dad. So when dad died and protagonist was all like, REVENGE, it felt very forced and I didn't buy it. Plus, it gave me next to no dragons. And the worldbuilding didn't seem all that interesting.
