The stock servo saver springs aren't spring metal. They just deform plastically when stretched instead of springing back. I made a new spring from 2 mm piano wire for the gearbox no ss for the steering).

Great video; informative and succinct as always. Looking forward to seeing the next installment. FWIW, I have the RTR and I've shimmed the steering servo saver to tighten that component (by far the largest contributor to overall steering slop on my truck) and I'm now very happy with how my truck steers. As with most things in life, your results may vary. I've focused most of my mods on making the suspension softer -- the suspension out-of-the-box is far too stiff and "bouncy".

very nice! An in depth look at the programing of the esc would be awesome.

I've had a couple of goes now at a setup guide, it's difficult to show the difference with some of the setting as they can be quite subtle when you're not in control.
I'm thinking perhaps 2 cameras, one looking at the truck and the second on the transmitter might help.

are you gonna move the steering servo to the front of the vehicle to eliminate the wonky steering??

Did you get the Kit version of the P407 or the RTR version? And what transmitter are you using (Flysky GT-3B) ? And why a 6Ch. receiver?

It's the kit version, I've put the videos in a playlist if you'd like to catch up: ruclips.net/p/PLbcb9Y0BdXKBncuZjiYilOkiZCJpobKLA
The transmitter is a FlySky GT3B, but it's been modified so it has 8 channels rather than the standard 3. And we've got a 6 channel receiver so we can have the usual Steering, Throttle and the gear shift, then we'll have control of the indicators, followed by the headlights leaving the 6th channel free for something else.

@@RCMojoTV IC.. that clarifies things up. I got the white RTR version (still in box) and also have the same transmitter but in original config though. How did you modify the GT3B to be able to handle more channels? Is it risky /idiot safe?

I bought the rtr version, but I have the same Flysky transmitter on a redcat. I think I might get another receiver and add it to the 407 - I like the switch for the transmission, but like the Flysky more. I've also changed the motor and esc to a brushless setup. 1st gear is about as fast as 3rd gear but still with 4wd.
