This video proves my point for why its a damn shame metallica barely let's rob write anything. In case you guys don't know how talented the dude is, let's break it down:
He's proficient in slap, funk, jazz, and classical guitar. When his son was 7, he was teaching him Jaco Pastorius (arguably the greatest jazz electric bassist of all time) stuff. Not to mention he has experience in thrash metal that utilized the slap technique. I will never understand for the life of me why metallica doesn't use more of Rob's talents

@@dirtyandnasty9011 pretty much a baseless assumption on my part. It is hard to find information because Bowie is pretty much the only credited songwriter on most songs

The acoustic guitar intro from Battery, the bass intro on Orion and Damage inc as well as the middle part of Master of puppets and some of the harmonies on to Live is To Die were also written by Cliff...

If memory serves, Jason and James were jamming and James wrote the guitar riff for blackened over what Jason was playing. I wonder how many are like that as opposed to them playing the guitar part.

Jason also wrote the main riff for my friend of misery, not just the intro. And I'm not 100% sure but I also think he wrote the verse riff for blackened as well

And another coincidence of this two songs are consireded as the greatest songs made by each bassist
They are just arpeggios. You can find loads of earlier songs with those notes

Unpopular opinion, but my favorite riffs in this video are the Jason riffs
I think Robert Trujillo is the best replacement for Cliff Burton. Rob and his riffs play very accurately and clearly, just like Clif would play, while bringing his own flavor to the group, as well as his musical contribution to Metallica в целом, например в альбом Death Magnetiс.
In general, his contribution cannot be underestimated either. Like, in fact, everyone who came before him.
The hammer son in bell tolls was actually added by Rob during live performances but the studio recording there is no hammer-on
It is a memorable and nice touch, though. Also in addition, the Orion riff in this video is not the same as the original version.

as a composer, Trujillo is a great bass player
He's probably the most naturally talented bass player Metallica have had, Cliff was great with compositions and his style how he played bass as more of a lead and Jason was great for his overall attitude and aggression he went into it, but from a bass perspective Rob is great he knows how to play alot of different styles with bass, like the stuff he did with Ozzy, Suicidal tendencies and his funk stuff he has put out, so he's probably the most talented from a diversity perspective, the argument could be made that the stuff Cliff wrote with the band is there better material though overall.

Blackened - wrong tab, genius. 2 part, 8 note - not E open on 6 string, it's E on 5 string, 7 fret, then slide to 1 fret.

Just search for it you can hear from Jason's voice how he came up with that riff
the main intro riff before the verse riff was Jason. do some research
