Kirk probably has some of the most consistently great solos between 1983-1991. I think they're sort of overlooked in the general Metallica discussion, but he really has an immense catalogue of very good solos.
He has some great ones on Load and Reload too. "Bleeding Me," "King Nothing," and "Devil's Dance" are some of his best. Also "Until it Sleeps" maybe simple, but it's such a perfect fit for the song.
He's so good at Pentatonic that they don't seem to sound the same on those songs. If you look at the pattern, they're all the same but each of those solos were beautifully unique!
A lot of Metallica’s song have given me the shivers because of the way they sound so personal. Blackened, Sad But True, Fade to Black, One, and For Whom the Bell Tolls are some of the ones that make me feel like I have a personal connection because I’ve felt the way that Sad but True and Fade to Black are written. They’re also some extremely inspirational songs to me and have made me dedicated to save up buy an electric guitar and practice their songs (and other bands songs) because of just how cool it is.
Dude the fact is that aside from kill em all most of the lead parts and solos for Metallica's early catalog were written by Dave when him and James would jam together then cliff would write in his own parts latter which is who is credited with alot of the bands early work because of that so when Dave left the band still had the rythm and bass parts of who knows how many songs Dave James and cliff wrote together Kirk ain't ever wrote shit in his life what was his Solo project called again. I'll wait
Kirk's solo for Unforgiven 1 is still, by far, my favorite solo of all time. I mainly started playing guitar because of Papa Het and love playing rhythm....but that solo is one of the few that I would actually wish that I had the ability to play.
@@peterstefan6900 oh I had plenty of practice time over the few decades since it came out. But I also know my limitations.....my fingers won't ever go fast. Thankfully, I love doing my best Papa Het renditions. :)
practice it slow over and over and over, then build your speed It truly is as simple as that Mark my words You play one note at a time slow After many times you muscle memory in your fingers will come into play Then as you start getting it down Start building speed slowly a little bit at a time You will notice your hard work payed off Have a nice day
@@danh3516 Yeah and the solo in Enter Sandman puts Kirk at least 10 tiers above Marty’s fame. There’s a reason why some musicians are more famous than others, they just relate to more people. Kirk is a great guitarist in anybody’s language.

Missing the solo from 'Disposable Heroes', which should at least be in the top 5. Nice to see 'The Struggle Within' get a mention though. Underrated solo.
Disposable Heroes is definitely one of my favorites

After seeing Kirk Hammett live in Hultsfred in Sweden at the Sonisphere Festival I know I wanted to play heavy metal. Since then I've learned not only Metallica, but Iron Maiden, A7X, Dream Theater and Plini.
Guess you don't listen much to KEA then. Sometimes i love his faster thrashier solos like almost all from KEA or dyers eve but other times solos like the first from fade to black is just perfect.
Kirk created iconic solos🎼🎵🎶, but on the Ride The⚡ record... he created incredible solos, Crepping Death. Ride The, Fade To Black... for me, the record that most expresses his 🎸guitar style.
Awesome compilation and playing! @10:13 Struggle Within was deffo a stand out solo for me from the Black Album, and all these solos are such a stark contrast to his now current day double-stop 12th fret phasing, smothered by a wah-wah, with the mid-solo pauses and weird noises... kinda sad (but true). Great video!
The transitions, tone of guitar, backing tracks, detailed tabs (even harmonies)... this video earns huge like. Also you got me at fade to black live version part.
"The Unforgiven" - Hammett's solo in this Metallica ballad is melodic and soulful, displaying his ability to create memorable guitar lines with emotional impact. "Battery" - Hammett's solo in "Battery" is filled with rapid-fire shredding and demonstrates his ability to seamlessly blend speed and precision. "Seek & Destroy" - Hammett's solo in Metallica's classic track "Seek & Destroy" is a high-energy display of his shredding skills, featuring fast-paced licks and fiery bends.
Thank you so much, Bro!! You got the right TAB here on screen, in better words: You show us the only right, accurate Metallica-TAB! You played the 10 solos damn pretty good. I see perfect "finger settings/finger positions" (sorry, I do not know the right english word for it, but I hope you understand me). Again, thanks for uploading your great TAB-Video!! With lovely greetings, Matthias 🤘
great selection and great playing but I think there were a few great ones missing: Jump In The Fire Fight Fire With Fire Disposable Heroes Dyers Eve The Unforgiven Bleeding Me Carpe Diem

I've heard people say that Kirk solos really aren't that difficult. Me being mostly a rythym player, with some limited soloing skills will say that most of his solos are a bit beyond my range. But also we must remember that most of the solos in this video were written before Kirk was 25 years old. A number of the when he was barely old enough to legally drink. Now how many of us could play or write at that level, at that age?
The artificial tone within master of puppets solo has to be on the 4th string with whammy bar! on 3rd fret! 4:23 . the rest of your cover is pretty good!
Underrated... overrated or not.. dude makes some of the most recognizable solos in history.
Exactly
whether or not he's the best with his hardwood or not his writing is impeccable
made
Simplicity is key
It's amazing how even though he's doing these great solos and writing iconic metal riffs, many people say that Kirk isn't a good guitarist.

Agree
Pentatonic is his trademark but he actually rotates around different scales such as phrygian and diatonic.
The Fade to Black's solo is still one of these solos that opens an unreal flood of emotions
and sanitarium as well

Kirk Hammet is so underrated, maybe his solos are not so difficult technically but definitely epic
I also think that way. The solo doesn’t need to be technically difficult to sound great!

His greatest solo was on Dyers Eve. It took an incredibly kick ass song and turned on the after burners.
Shortest Straw, Unforgiven, The Prince, Orion. You can make a top 20, Kirk was that damn good!!!
