I have a Crosstrek, which I chose instead of the Forester, because it was just big enough to transport what I want but small enough to park in city streets. Also, I've always loved the look of the Crosstrek vs the Forester. Love my Crosstrek!
This is my first Subaru and I have a Crosstrek Limited. Went for the Crosstrek because of it's size suits my needs and it's looks also of dependability and last the all wheel drive system is rate one of the best in the market. This will not be my last Subaru Crosstrek.
So glad I got my 2018 Forester XT Touring a month ago. Upgraded from a 2014 XT Touring What a great, fun car. Sorry, 2019 looks nice but no turbo, no sports suspension, no bigger brakes.
This is a nice side by side comparison. And I applaud the dealer for breaking down some of the differences for potential customers. However, I cannot be the only one who laughs when the terms; "Crossover/SUV and on occasion CUV" are used to describe a "Car/Wagon and on occasion Hatchback". It's as though people are terrified of using more accurate, less marketing-like terms. When someone says their vehicle is parked somewhere, I'd wager they say: "my car, truck, van is over there". Anyway, whatever one calls them Subarus ARE AMAZING! [Sorry for the rant].
Will buy my first ever Subaru next month but still can’t make up my mind between Crosstrek or Forester. I’m 51% going for Forester and 49% for Crosstrek.
We chose the Forester. Mainly, because of interior room. And power lift gate. The price was close to the same. At the time when we purchased, the crosstrek only had a 2.0 engine. The Forester has 30 nmore hp with the 2.5. Now they offer the 2.5 5 in the upper trim levels of the crosstrek. The 2.0 is weak.
I love my 2016 Crosstrek limited. Only gripes are: the hatch can’t automatically open, there is no light on the vanity mirror, the doors don’t automatically lock when you put it into drive. I found it odd that my dad’s old as hell Toyota Avalon could do/has those 3 simple features yet my (pretty much) new, ‘top of the line’ Crosstrek doesn’t. All the great things about it outweigh the lack of those 3 things though. Great gas mileage (I get 38-40MPG driving on a 55-60MPH highway on my beach trips!) SAFETY!! (always have at least one kid in my car) The stereo is amazing (it has upgraded kickers) Love having heated seats, leather, tinted windows Plus the red lighting at night makes me feel like I’m in some kind of rad synthwave music video :p Also it just looks cool.
That's what I think, also. My mom just bought a new 2018 Crosstrek. The Forester just keeps getting boxier all the time. I thought the Forester was a better car during the first two generations, including the 2003 Forester that I had.
I love love love the way Foresters look but they do have a more masculine feel to them. And its ironic because I typically see far more men in Foresters, more women in Crosstreks.
I have the 2019 Crosstrek, The size fits me better than the forester. The Forester is to boxy looking and less sporty, That is why i went with the Crosstrek. I hate the lobster claw looking tail lights on the forester, It is a nice vehicle but My Crosstrek is awesome and I love it.
I bought the 2019 crosstrek 6mt last August, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. I drove the Forester Sport too, and that's a nice ride as well. I chose the crosstrek because it was a lot cheaper than the Forester, and had the manual option. Get an after market muffler, and an intake, and you'll be having a blast. 👍
Here is some information relative to your question: www.planetsubaru.com/subaru-symmetrical-all-wheel-drive.htm There are a lot of ways to engineer all-wheel-drive systems, but this is Subaru's specialty. You could probably find sushi at a steak house, but if you want sushi then shouldn't you go to a sushi restaurant?!
This question is above our pay grade since Subaru does not publish specifications at this level of detail. We would guess that the frames are very similar, but we can't be sure. We would refer technical questions like this to Subaru of America.
@@kirklawton291 How did you do on the trade in? I feel like I am getting lowballed. @@godwhomismike I had 45,000 miles on mine and got $18,500, which if you look it up online that is really on spot for trade in value. My Forester msrp was 32,900 and got it for 29,900
@@godwhomismike Mine crosstrek was a special order with almost every accessory. I bought after the person who ordered it didn't follow through on the purchase. I think the MSRP was little over 33,000, and got a good deal, because dealers require non-refundable down payment on speckal orders
It seems the U.S. market already made the point that it didn’t want a Forester ‘with’ a turbo. Alas, sales numbers speak louder than words on this particular topic.

Just purchased a Subaru crosstrek limitied with 23 package, Orange. Picking it up this week. The car looks sweet! I'm coming from a Nissan Maxima v6.

Nice post. Agree with the same! I have the 18 with the Harmon system.
@ekim andersom tell that to people who have a bad back/older people.
The crosstrek has a youth vibe, while the forester design is very old fashioned, like a refrigerator with wheels.

Not with the sport trim. It is not OF.
You need new glasses...
Dungsta to match the Forester I would need one with old-fashioned frame and style..kkkk

Finally a salesman that actually knows something. Most are just chumps that repeat our cars are best like some broken fucking record
Until IIHS crash tests the 2019 Forester, I went with the Crosstrek which has good rating across the board in their tests.
We went with the Forester Sport in silver. Crosstrek wasn’t big enough in cargo space. Plus the Forester gets up to speed way faster.
I am curious why Subaru is into Orange? It really is tough to take in the interior of the Sport.
All the cool kids are doing it. Subaru pulled no punches when styling the Sport for maximum conspicuousness. The other models are much more sedate.
I love orange.
The claw taillights are the new thing now. All the makers are following suit. Who was the first?
Is subaru AWD really better or is it all marketing? Love the looks of the Crosstrek, especially with the black leather!

Almost all of the sub-compact SUVs are way under powered. The Hyundai Kona with the 1.6 liter turbo is the best bet in that grouping of vehicles.
Those little engines have terrible heating in the winter
I’m debating between a forester sport or crosstrek limited. I have no kids and am not married. I do have a kayak to haul though.
Not married, no kids? This might be your last chance to get a WRX!
