I thought Ventress uses Makashi (though I do admit, she is rather acrobatic in this fight). And as for Savage, he's either formless, or uses an unrefined version of Shii-Cho (presumably with some unrefined Djem So, judging by Savage's brute strength).
Ventress also uses Makashi; but heavily modified with certain aspects of Jar'Kai in it, not Ataru. Spinning once or twice doesn't make it Ataru, Martin. As Luminara said "Your form is like your masters, but it's sloppy and unrefined"

I agree and disagree. The Sith by the time of Episode 1 are a completely destroyed faction by the Jedi and Republic. The sith functioned despite some infighting for thousands of years quite well, as an Empire. I think the big thing is after the fall of the Sith Empires. Rules, laws, and so forth were lost, so when trying to start up the Sith Again, the darkside naturally led to confrontation and fighting for supremacy. Without a firm foundation the Sith fell apart. I think this can be seen somewhat through Emperor Palpatine, in canon comics he actually is not a firm follower of the Rule of Two, but feels it is needed due to the times. Also, Sith in the past were not always as crazy and evil, some were level headed like even Malak, Malgus, Scourge, and Reven. Some even fighting for inclusion, and acceptance of other alien races in the Sith Empire. Instead of Human Supremacy, with Chiss being a close 2nd.
Ventress was too eager for revenge that she rushed it. If she had waited for Savage to become more disciplined and refined she would have had a better chance at defeating Doku. The plan was perfect she just jumped the gun. Patience is a virtue.
I think that if Ventress had built Savage's rage against Dooku instead of accidentally building his rage against the both of them by berating him and calling him weak, he could of choked Dooku along and Ventress, is she was fast enough, might have gotten a killing blow.
And if we’re going to be honest Ventress really had the perfect opportunity when they invaded Doku’s home with the other 2 night sisters. They successfully hit him with a dart in his sleep that dulled his senses when all they had to do was put a deadly poison in the dart and end him. She’s not as calculated as she could be she wanted revenge where she would be the last face he saw when she should’ve used her common sense from being around him he’s a master duelist, skilled force user and is very intelligent a direct assault shouldn’t even been considered when it comes to the likes of Doku.
It’s easy to play Anakin into a situation like this because he’s very emotion driven and impatient not Doku. Doku is patient, and rarely acts without thinking things through.
Actually it was a deadly poison. Normal poison or some other shit wouldnt even work on Dooku. He is one of the strongest force users and has natural resistance from it.
Its simply because Dooku's Form 2 was good 1on1 but against multiple opponent it gets tough. He tolk Savage out and fought 1on1 against Ventress. Its like on geonosis vs Obi Wan and Anakin
@@juanlaise1059 You're wrong. Dooku is close to Vader's level who is 80% as strong as Sidious according to Lords of the Sith book. Guess what, Savage Is just an apprentice right now. He would be able to match Maul, Dooku, and Vader as a Sith warrior (I'd say he'd be 90% as strong as them by then). He would completely crush Yoda and Sidious as a sith lord. Savage killed jedi master Adi Galiga, a jedi knight, and held his own against Sidious as an apprentice. Padawan Anakin didnt even have feats like that and Savagee ragdolled two of the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy. He did the same to Obi wan and Anakin plus he knocked out jedi master Obi wan as an apprentice (but that was due to the element of surprise and his size). Savagee has force feats here that rival jedi knight Anakin. This is like when Anakin used the force to push back 4 magnaguards. Anakin is really tough too and had crazy feats as a Padawan but Savage's growth rate rivals the freaking chosen one. The same guy Lucas said would be twice as strong as Sidious had he not been injured by Kenobi. Sidious probably was more scared of Savage than Maul due to his potential. Think about it, he killed Savage yet just captured Maul. Why not kill Maul and take the new dark sider that is growing in power as a new assassin? Because he knew Savage had too much potential and would one day surpass him. Even Ventress was just a Sith warrior who could kill jedi masters. She would likely surpass Maul, Vader, and Dooku as a sith lord. And we saw Savage had more potential than Ventress.

No way Savage is on the league of Vader(Anakin was stronger than Dooku and Vader was stated to be far more powerful than Anakin)and you have no chance in hell to convince me that he would defeat, let alone "crush" Sidious or Yoda(whom both are stronger than Vader). Savage was someone with lots of potential, but he was more of a brute than anything else. He was almost killed by Kenobi when having a two to one advantage on him. The only reason Sidious spared Maul was because he wanted him to suffer and to lure out Mother Talzin(outside of universe reason: Maul was too damn popular to kill at the time).
She literally lasted 7 seconds against him with blades, and he ends up disarming her the same way Yoda did, hinting that he was using his lightsaber just for the lulz
Yeah, you could see how powerful he was in this episode when his anger exploded and Force choked both Dooku and Asajj. With his potential had he been able to train as much as the others he would be have been insane.
Dooku is so much more interesting than the other villains we got in the prequels. I wish Lucas had used him in all three movies and more liberally. Here he shows how those flashy prequel antics don't amount to much against true skill.

If you think of it, Savage had almost no training but he could still hold his own temporarly against the best lightsaber fighters using his pure strenght. Without any training and without even a lightsaber, he was already stronger than a jedi knight and his padawan. With just a little bit of training, he fought Anakin and Obi Wan twice and survived, he even killed a jedi master on his own. If he had a proper training, he could have been almost invincible. I think he is the main reason why Sidious decided to attack Maul and Savage. It was to kill Savage when he was still an easy target for him.
His potential was already higher than Maul's to begin with. Zabrack bodies are already multiple times more powerful than human bodies. His raw power got enhanced by Magick and the force at the same time. Notice how Sidious tried to overpower Opress only to fail. He had to outmanoveur him in order to kill him. When Sidious tried to overpower Maul with brute force in the saber lock , he did it with ease

This fight is actually a testament to how powerful Count Dooku really is. He can take on multiple opponents at the same time, both possessing more than one lightsaber blade. And the differences in their fighting styles, Asajj Ventress being nimble and acrobatic while Savage is big and bulky, also means that fighting them at the same time is very difficult. I mean, think about it. Would you be able to bounce your focus between two opponents without getting their strengths and weaknesses mixed up? It would have been VERY easy for Dooku to accidentally use Force Lightning on Ventress, who has noticeably more resilience to it than Savage Opress. And the reason that Dooku spammed Savage Opress with his lightning is because he knew that Savage was too strong for him, so he needed a way to temporarily stun him in order to focus on taking down Asajj Ventress. This is yet another piece of evidence to my claim, as shifting focus from one opponent to the other while also juggling their individual strengths and weaknesses and how to counter them was too much for even Dooku himself. He needed a bit more wiggle room, so by nullifying Savage, he could focus on the faster, harder-to-hit Ventress. Either that or he calculated that taking down one opponent at a time rather than facing both of them simultaneously made his life easier. Either way, this fight was REALLY tough, and I understand why Dooku tried to run away near the end. It's because nobody wants to be on the receiving end of a giant sith lord with a double blade. He knew that neither Ventress nor himself would survive a fight with Savage Opress when he's angry, which as we know, would have only fueled his power. So yeah. Not only can Dooku put up a serious fight, he is also one smart cookie.
Yeah if he didn't electrocute Savage as much as he did Dooku would've died. Ventress would get really close to striking him down when Savage would knock Dooku back. Eventually Dooku's age would've kicked in and Ventress would finally get the killing blow.
I'm not here to downplay you because I agree dooku is one of the best siths, but he chose to incapacitate savage because he is a apprentice no where near dookus worries until he got angry, ventress on the other hand has completed her training and has more battle experience than savage. Seeing dooku being defeated wouldn't of came from ventress but savage's anger which surprised dooku. Yet if savage completed his sith training he might of defeated or gave dooku a run for his money.
I have admit, that was really brave of Ventress to follow Dooku and attempt to take him on on her own. Even escaping him after was accomplishment. I thought she was over the second jumped into that entry way
Yup , she was on the same level as obi wan and anakin , but dooku know her too well and she doesn't have the advantage of ligthsaber form ( unlike anakin ) . It was brave but foolish she could've easily died for being too eager .
I like that as soon as Savage turns, Dooku doesn't do the cliched "How could this be?!" or "How dare you?!" lines. He's just quietly like "So that's how it is," and prepares himself for the fight

That soundtrack is so epic it's unbelievable. The climax in 2:48 is an eargasm. If anyone knows where I can find that theme with this particular moment I'd be grateful.
I feel like this fight is an illustration of why the Jedi are still around and the Sith aren't. At the start of this scene, Dooku and Savage are on the same side against Ventress. Then Savage and Ventress team up against Dooku. Then it turns into a free-for-all.
What many forgets here is, that Dooku intentionally never taught Savage how to block lightning. He reserved this as his ace in the hole, if he turns against him, and it's not like he needs such knowledge against Dooku's enemies. The only other person who would use it is Sidius. If Ventress were taught him to do so, then he might have stood a chance here.

What I love about this story arc is that it represents major infighting within the darksiders, making it the closest we’ve gotten in canon to the sith internal wars of the Old Republic
Love how Dooku was immediately overwhelmed by Savage’s strength and had to keep using force lightning to keep him stunned and out of the fight. Every time he used it would’ve exhausted him immensely since using the force uses up a lot of energy, and he’s old. Ventress and Savage are much younger.

3:46 Dooku could have easily just slice through the escape pod but I believe he let Ventress go because deep in side him he cared for her. He clearly didn’t want to kill her and tried to convince Sidious other wise. There is still good in Dooku but with Qui Gon dead and Yoda believing One can’t turn back to the light he‘s lost.
I think obi wan might have turned him if he truly tried . In the battle of coruscant he tried to convince sidious to implant him into the plan instead of anakin . He truly viewed him as some sort of grandson .
@@stormbringer2840 Obi Wan wasn't able to save Anakin from falling to the dark side even though they were like brothers, so I doubt that he could of turned Dooku. Obi Wan for the longest time also had the mindset of 'once you go dark you never go back' as well, pretty much up till his death. And by the time Obi Wan and Dooku had met, Obi Wan already had a low opinion of him and that was before he learned he was a Sith. For Obi Wan, there was no personal connection or motivation for reaching out to Dooku so he never bothered. Perhaps if they had met while Qui Gon was still alive maybe Obi Wan would of at least tried but I doubt it would of worked. Because by the time of Attack of the Clones, Dooku had gone too far into the dark to turn back. Just like how Anakin knew after carrying out Order 66 and the slaughter of the CIS leaders on Mustafar that there's no turning back.
I feel like when Dooku says "That is not the way of the dark side" it's kind of like he doesn't like barbecuing Savage but he feels like he has to do it.
I like that after Dooku gets flung by one of Savage's attacks, he instantly understands that blocking is not an option and resorts to long-ranged force lightning to counter Savage for the rest of the fight
If there's anyone to blame in Dooku's assassination, it would be Mother Talzin She rushed things, even Ventress told her that Savage wasn't ready and it was too soon, if she had cultivated Savage's potential and a bit of patience, he could turn to a real monster

I really love Ventress's character development. She went from an all evil underling of Dooku to a (mildly) simpatetic, greyish character... Even here, I understood her motivation,and later she became even more sympatetic and developed....
Savage would’ve probably been a very strong and powerful sith if he was trained and disciplined more. When he snapped, he was able to force choke both ventress and dooku and fight them both for a couple of seconds. This guy was a tragedy
I wonder if anyone besides me admires the fact that it's rare to see Dooku, a master of Form 2 Makashi that is built against disarmament, gets knocked across the room and gets real defensive after Savage hits him? Like, the only other occasion Dooku got disarmed was by Hondo's gang.
Never really got that either, I mean there is so much potential for easy kills there, especially for those who don't usually use two sabers, they fight with one as usual but when they block the enemy blade with one saber, they strike with the other, and boom dead enemy
Easy. It pus more force and pressure on the opponent when blocking. And as Sidious has shown, one could always take a saber off the block and maneuver it around for another strike.
Because tragically he was a slave of the nightsister and the pawn of ventress and talzin to do their dirty job. Poor savage, even they forced him to kill in cold blood to his own brother feral, to whom he used to protect with his life.

Four blades against him, and the guy doesn't even need a lightsaber in his hands to dance around his opponents. Dooku was a masterful duelist, just like the man who portrayed him in the films.
@@stormbringer2840 Yeah, one of my favorite Dooku scenes is from Tartakovsky's 2003 _Clone Wars,_ where he's effortlessly deflecting flurries of attacks by General Grievous (who we last saw wiping out an entire squad of jedi single-handedly) _with one hand behind his back_ while schooling him on lightsaber form. It's not a high-stakes action scene or anything, but it just goes to show the monstrous level of technical mastery Dooku possessed, even compared to the near-perfect blend of military engineering and animalistic killer instinct that Grievous was portrayed as in that series. I imagine it would take _a lot_ to convince a prideful warrior-prodigy like Grievous to accept you as his mentor.

@Dylan Emery If Dooku isn't a true sith then neither is Vader. Vader is never really shown caring about Sith history and mostly kills Jedi just as a distraction from his depression. He stays as a Sith because he feels he's unredeemable and has nowhere else to go, not because he cares about the goals of the Sith. He's a lot like Ventress and Kylo in that way.

In canon, Vader genuinely believes what he is doing is the correct choice and views the Jedi as traitors. He also has ambition to rule the galaxy and follows the Sith doctrines.
I love how upon being disarmed and realizing Savage was too dangerous to take on in melee, Dooku switched up his strategy and used force lightning to keep him at long range
Ventress was smart to choose the small room to fight in. In any 2-on-1 fight, the single duelist needs space to retreat or to separate his opponents. In this instance Dooku is powerful enough to survive the encounter. Notice that Sidious does the same later on Mandalor, he takes the fight outside and uses the space to separate Oppress from Maul.
True, space is important for a 1v2 duelist. Dooku didn't have that here, so he wasn't able to beat both in combat and so he decided to fight Ventress alone when forcing Savage back.

Ventress was too eager for revenge that she rushed it. If she had waited for Savage to become more disciplined and refined she would have had a better chance at defeating Doku. The plan was perfect she just jumped the gun. Patience is a virtue.

I think that if Ventress had built Savage's rage against Dooku instead of accidentally building his rage against the both of them by berating him and calling him weak, he could of choked Dooku along and Ventress, is she was fast enough, might have gotten a killing blow.
And if we’re going to be honest Ventress really had the perfect opportunity when they invaded Doku’s home with the other 2 night sisters. They successfully hit him with a dart in his sleep that dulled his senses when all they had to do was put a deadly poison in the dart and end him. She’s not as calculated as she could be she wanted revenge where she would be the last face he saw when she should’ve used her common sense from being around him he’s a master duelist, skilled force user and is very intelligent a direct assault shouldn’t even been considered when it comes to the likes of Doku.
It’s easy to play Anakin into a situation like this because he’s very emotion driven and impatient not Doku. Doku is patient, and rarely acts without thinking things through.
Actually it was a deadly poison. Normal poison or some other shit wouldnt even work on Dooku. He is one of the strongest force users and has natural resistance from it.

@@juanlaise1059 You're wrong. Dooku is close to Vader's level who is 80% as strong as Sidious according to Lords of the Sith book. Guess what, Savage Is just an apprentice right now. He would be able to match Maul, Dooku, and Vader as a Sith warrior (I'd say he'd be 90% as strong as them by then).
He would completely crush Yoda and Sidious as a sith lord. Savage killed jedi master Adi Galiga, a jedi knight, and held his own against Sidious as an apprentice. Padawan Anakin didnt even have feats like that and Savagee ragdolled two of the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy. He did the same to Obi wan and Anakin plus he knocked out jedi master Obi wan as an apprentice (but that was due to the element of surprise and his size).
Savagee has force feats here that rival jedi knight Anakin. This is like when Anakin used the force to push back 4 magnaguards. Anakin is really tough too and had crazy feats as a Padawan but Savage's growth rate rivals the freaking chosen one. The same guy Lucas said would be twice as strong as Sidious had he not been injured by Kenobi. Sidious probably was more scared of Savage than Maul due to his potential.
Think about it, he killed Savage yet just captured Maul. Why not kill Maul and take the new dark sider that is growing in power as a new assassin? Because he knew Savage had too much potential and would one day surpass him. Even Ventress was just a Sith warrior who could kill jedi masters. She would likely surpass Maul, Vader, and Dooku as a sith lord. And we saw Savage had more potential than Ventress.

Savage in the leage of Dooku is pushing it. No way Savage is on the league of Vader(Anakin was stronger than Dooku and Vader was stated to be far more powerful than Anakin)and you have no chance in hell to convince me that he would defeat, let alone "crush" Sidious or Yoda(whom both are stronger than Vader).
Savage was someone with lots of potential, but he was more of a brute than anything else. He was almost killed by Kenobi when having a two to one advantage on him.
The only reason Sidious spared Maul was because he wanted him to suffer and to lure out Mother Talzin(outside of universe reason: Maul was too damn popular to kill at the time).

If you think of it, Savage had almost no training but he could still hold his own temporarly against the best lightsaber fighters using his pure strenght. Without any training and without even a lightsaber, he was already stronger than a jedi knight and his padawan. With just a little bit of training, he fought Anakin and Obi Wan twice and survived, he even killed a jedi master on his own. If he had a proper training, he could have been almost invincible. I think he is the main reason why Sidious decided to attack Maul and Savage. It was to kill Savage when he was still an easy target for him.
His potential was already higher than Maul's to begin with. Zabrack bodies are already multiple times more powerful than human bodies. His raw power got enhanced by Magick and the force at the same time.
Notice how Sidious tried to overpower Opress only to fail. He had to outmanoveur him in order to kill him.

This fight is actually a testament to how powerful Count Dooku really is. He can take on multiple opponents at the same time, both possessing more than one lightsaber blade. And the differences in their fighting styles, Asajj Ventress being nimble and acrobatic while Savage is big and bulky, also means that fighting them at the same time is very difficult. I mean, think about it. Would you be able to bounce your focus between two opponents without getting their strengths and weaknesses mixed up? It would have been VERY easy for Dooku to accidentally use Force Lightning on Ventress, who has noticeably more resilience to it than Savage Opress. And the reason that Dooku spammed Savage Opress with his lightning is because he knew that Savage was too strong for him, so he needed a way to temporarily stun him in order to focus on taking down Asajj Ventress. This is yet another piece of evidence to my claim, as shifting focus from one opponent to the other while also juggling their individual strengths and weaknesses and how to counter them was too much for even Dooku himself. He needed a bit more wiggle room, so by nullifying Savage, he could focus on the faster, harder-to-hit Ventress. Either that or he calculated that taking down one opponent at a time rather than facing both of them simultaneously made his life easier. Either way, this fight was REALLY tough, and I understand why Dooku tried to run away near the end. It's because nobody wants to be on the receiving end of a giant sith lord with a double blade. He knew that neither Ventress nor himself would survive a fight with Savage Opress when he's angry, which as we know, would have only fueled his power. So yeah. Not only can Dooku put up a serious fight, he is also one smart cookie.
Yeah if he didn't electrocute Savage as much as he did Dooku would've died. Ventress would get really close to striking him down when Savage would knock Dooku back. Eventually Dooku's age would've kicked in and Ventress would finally get the killing blow.
I'm not here to downplay you because I agree dooku is one of the best siths, but he chose to incapacitate savage because he is a apprentice no where near dookus worries until he got angry, ventress on the other hand has completed her training and has more battle experience than savage. Seeing dooku being defeated wouldn't of came from ventress but savage's anger which surprised dooku. Yet if savage completed his sith training he might of defeated or gave dooku a run for his money.

Yup , she was on the same level as obi wan and anakin , but dooku know her too well and she doesn't have the advantage of ligthsaber form ( unlike anakin ) . It was brave but foolish she could've easily died for being too eager .

I feel like this fight is an illustration of why the Jedi are still around and the Sith aren't. At the start of this scene, Dooku and Savage are on the same side against Ventress. Then Savage and Ventress team up against Dooku. Then it turns into a free-for-all.

What many forgets here is, that Dooku intentionally never taught Savage how to block lightning. He reserved this as his ace in the hole, if he turns against him, and it's not like he needs such knowledge against Dooku's enemies. The only other person who would use it is Sidius. If Ventress were taught him to do so, then he might have stood a chance here.

Love how Dooku was immediately overwhelmed by Savage’s strength and had to keep using force lightning to keep him stunned and out of the fight. Every time he used it would’ve exhausted him immensely since using the force uses up a lot of energy, and he’s old. Ventress and Savage are much younger.

@@stormbringer2840 Obi Wan wasn't able to save Anakin from falling to the dark side even though they were like brothers, so I doubt that he could of turned Dooku. Obi Wan for the longest time also had the mindset of 'once you go dark you never go back' as well, pretty much up till his death. And by the time Obi Wan and Dooku had met, Obi Wan already had a low opinion of him and that was before he learned he was a Sith. For Obi Wan, there was no personal connection or motivation for reaching out to Dooku so he never bothered. Perhaps if they had met while Qui Gon was still alive maybe Obi Wan would of at least tried but I doubt it would of worked. Because by the time of Attack of the Clones, Dooku had gone too far into the dark to turn back. Just like how Anakin knew after carrying out Order 66 and the slaughter of the CIS leaders on Mustafar that there's no turning back.
I feel like when Dooku says "That is not the way of the dark side" it's kind of like he doesn't like barbecuing Savage but he feels like he has to do it.
I like that after Dooku gets flung by one of Savage's attacks, he instantly understands that blocking is not an option and resorts to long-ranged force lightning to counter Savage for the rest of the fight

Savage is SO FUCKING STRONG that instead of simply knocking a lightsaber out of hand, he sends his ENTIRE opponent flying back when he makes contact.

Savage would’ve probably been a very strong and powerful sith if he was trained and disciplined more. When he snapped, he was able to force choke both ventress and dooku and fight them both for a couple of seconds. This guy was a tragedy

Never really got that either, I mean there is so much potential for easy kills there, especially for those who don't usually use two sabers, they fight with one as usual but when they block the enemy blade with one saber, they strike with the other, and boom dead enemy
Easy. It pus more force and pressure on the opponent when blocking. And as Sidious has shown, one could always take a saber off the block and maneuver it around for another strike.

Never forget the guy was stalemating yoda after two tiring duels against Anakin and obi wan . He escaped but Sidious barely did better against yoda .
@@stormbringer2840 Yeah, one of my favorite Dooku scenes is from Tartakovsky's 2003 _Clone Wars,_ where he's effortlessly deflecting flurries of attacks by General Grievous (who we last saw wiping out an entire squad of jedi single-handedly) _with one hand behind his back_ while schooling him on lightsaber form. It's not a high-stakes action scene or anything, but it just goes to show the monstrous level of technical mastery Dooku possessed, even compared to the near-perfect blend of military engineering and animalistic killer instinct that Grievous was portrayed as in that series. I imagine it would take _a lot_ to convince a prideful warrior-prodigy like Grievous to accept you as his mentor.

@Dylan Emery If Dooku isn't a true sith then neither is Vader. Vader is never really shown caring about Sith history and mostly kills Jedi just as a distraction from his depression. He stays as a Sith because he feels he's unredeemable and has nowhere else to go, not because he cares about the goals of the Sith. He's a lot like Ventress and Kylo in that way.
@@jonseon5952 Dooku and Vader are both recognized as true Sith and Vader is far from believing himself depressed or irredeemable. In canon, Vader genuinely believes what he is doing is the correct choice and views the Jedi as traitors. He also has ambition to rule the galaxy and follows the Sith doctrines.
@Dylan Emery Dooku was more of a Sith Lord than Maul ever was. Maul was more of a Sith Apprentice/Assasin

Dooku barelly teached anything to savage. With time he would've made a monster off him. He was referring to ventress.

I don’t think anyone noticed but I love how you Evan literally hear a kind of roar each time Savage swings his saber. It’s very cool and fitting.

When Dooku electrocuted Savage, it gave me PTSD from Return of The Jedi.
I love how upon being disarmed and realizing Savage was too dangerous to take on in melee, Dooku switched up his strategy and used force lightning to keep him at long range
Ventress was smart to choose the small room to fight in. In any 2-on-1 fight, the single duelist needs space to retreat or to separate his opponents. In this instance Dooku is powerful enough to survive the encounter. Notice that Sidious does the same later on Mandalor, he takes the fight outside and uses the space to separate Oppress from Maul.
True, space is important for a 1v2 duelist. Dooku didn't have that here, so he wasn't able to beat both in combat and so he decided to fight Ventress alone when forcing Savage back.
