I still have my awesome Roo and 2 hens I hatched out from your beautiful copper Maran back cross hatching eggs 4 years ago. My Roo is the gentlest soul! I’ll be forever grateful for your beautiful eggs! Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge Leslie
Wow! Most of those chickens on your top 5 have been in my flock! I loved my French Black Copper Marans and my Easter Eggers! I really enjoyed the personalities of the Speckled Sussex too.
I love all the rainbow egg colors! I have easter eggers and a wyandotte and barred rock. I want more color layers in the future. This is great information on breeds thanks for sharing!
I’ve got my flock, now I can’t wait for them to start laying! I’m so excited to see the egg colors they will lay. It’s going to be like Easter every morning! ☺️
I live in the DFW area and just had my coop built & installed a couple weeks ago. I can’t wait to get all of the chickens you highlighted in this video!
Love it!! ❤️ I have all those breeds, aside from the Orpington. Instead, I replaced them with the Croad Langshan this year! Light brown egg layer, and with a heavy bloom, will look pink or lavender 😍
Yes,after hearing from different chicken app, many people call them mutts. Why not call them by their name EE. To me they’re beautiful and lay beautiful colored eggs. Can’t get better than that. I think differently about mutts. I have 2 golden doodles. People say big dollar price for mutts. Well, I’ll have mutts everyday of week.
I love your videos about egg color and genetics. I would love to see more on this topic. It is clear you are knowledgeable and have a lot of experience. As a newbie, here are topics I’d love to see videos about F1, F2, F3…you mentioned F10 or something in your video (what does that mean?), what to cross to get specked olive eggers, what causes heavy bloom, what to do to develop the darkest marans egg, the positives and negatives of selling hatching eggs, what you feed your chickens. Thank you for considering these ideas. I’d love to learn more from you and I really enjoy your videos!

Olive egger are my favorite! I want more! My black copper marans doesn’t lay anymore but picked up a black and a blue copper this spring. Hopefully they lay before winter comes!
I need a few more BCMs! I’m down to one consistent layer and one has slowed wayyyy down in her older age. She’s a little sweetheart though so she’ll be feee loading here at Rustybelle farms for the rest of her days🖤 love your content, thank you for sharing!
Which chicken lays the most dark brown eggs per year? I’d love to get a Maran however I need to keep my chicken count to about 4 while still producing enough eggs for our egg loving family of 4. I’m looking for a chicken that lays dark dark brown eggs but produces more than the Maran. Thank you for your videos!
I've been looking for a video that does a taste test of different chicken eggs but have not found one. I'm trying to decide which breeds to get and good flavor is a must. I tried some brown eggs once that tasted fishy and that was a turn-off, so I definitely want to steer away from anything fishy or gamey. Could you do a taste test video comparing eggs from various breeds?
How are these breeds on the friendliness and loudness spectrum? We have two true ameracaunas, orpingtons, and wyandottes - and love all of their personalities. Curious about the olive eggers in particular!
Thank your for sharing the ways your get those colored eggs! I’m Anne-Laure from France. I wanted to ask you if you bring new chickens in the group anytime in the year no matter the age of the new chicken? How do you extend your livestock? Thank you
I love your vidoes. I live in the suburbs and not allowed to keep roosters 😞. Do you have any suggestions for those of us who want coloured eggs and to have fun breeding them up, without a rooster? Are the Marans roosters noisy? Do all Marans lay the dark coloured egg? Alos, we dont seem to have Ameracaunas here in Australia.
Thanks for watching. Not all Marans lay dark chocolate eggs. I only buy from reputable breeders and must see their egg colors before buying. All roosters are noisy for the most part. Other blue egg laying breeds are Cream Legbars, and Araucana. Good luck in your endeavors!
True Ameraucanas are pure bred birds who carry two copies of the blue egg shell gene. Easter Eggers are mixed breeds who only carry one (if any) copy. EEs won’t breed true

Thanks so much Laurie!
I love my multi colored eggs. MY Cream Leg bars are great. Laying about 210 to 240 eggs per hen per year All blue.

It truly never gets old!
Thank you! Chickens are so nice to have around the home. ❤️🐓

That is awesome!
Hey I’m from Dallas too , and my 29 rainbow egg flock is 1 month old
Love it!! ❤️ I have all those breeds, aside from the Orpington. Instead, I replaced them with the Croad Langshan this year! Light brown egg layer, and with a heavy bloom, will look pink or lavender 😍
I had about 5 different breeds that were battling for number 5.
@@THEFOURTEENACRES I bet!!
Thank you for this! I always thought that Easter Eggers were not good, but now I am rethinking that. Thanks!!
Definitely rethink that. I love mixed breed birds. They are super hardy. There's a lot to be said for "hybrid vigor"

Love this!! I raised chickens when I was younger. I think I need to get some more!
I love all your videos! Your calm, interesting, and fun to watch. Thank you for your help!!!
Thanks so much for watching❤️
How exciting.. I have 9 hens and a easter egger Rooster.. I saw your beautiful eggs on Instagram.. Thanks! 🥚

You can look this up, on your own. Then you would know what F1 or F2 generation means. Don't be lazy.

Wonderful!

I just got a couple easter eggers a few weeks ago. Looking forward to their eggs. I hadn't heard about marans, thanks for the info!
So glad to take a glimpse at the 14 acres.
Thanks April!
Great video!
I'm a big fan of Ameraucanas!
I love my Black Copper Marans! And my Easter Eggers! ♥️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗

I have all of those except the BCM hen. I do have a blue one though. My #1 roo is a BCM though. 🙂
Love this ❤️❤️❤️
Where did you get those overalls?
Is the rooster more dominant for egg color or the hen? Like an Americauna rooster to a brown egg laying hen would get what color layer?
Olive green
I agree on these breeds!
How do you get red yolks?
Where this rainbow eggs can I get?
Does it matter what kind of rooster you have to get the rainbow eggs? Love all your videos! Keep them coming!
Thank you! I go into that in more detail in my video about creating your own egg rainbow. I keep Black Copper Marans and Olive Egger roosters

My OEs are some of my friendliest birds. And they definitely aren't any louder than my other hens
thank u for the in for
What are some breeds that lay large to jumbo white eggs?
Rhode Island Red and white leghorn. Large eggs.
Thank your for sharing the ways your get those colored eggs!
I’m Anne-Laure from France.
I wanted to ask you if you bring new chickens in the group anytime in the year no matter the age of the new chicken?
How do you extend your livestock?
Thank you
I hatch new birds from reputable breeders to add diversity to my bloodlines. But the majority of the additions are from hatching my own eggs
I just need a buff Orpington 💯
They're great birds!
How make ligth pink egg

What’s is the best feed for Easter Eggers?
Same as any other chicken. If they’re laying eggs then they need a complete layer feed. We like Purina Layena
My favorite breed is Silkie bantam. I was told that they lay blue eggs, is that true?
No. Silkies lay a cream or tinted egg
@@THEFOURTEENACRES Oh, well thanks! It is good to know. 🙂
The breeds that you have that you discuss in your video seem to get along alright? I know Buff Orpingtons are a great breed for families with kids.
They all get along fine. There is a definite pecking order though
@@THEFOURTEENACRES OK. Thanks for your response. Enjoy your videos and channel. Have a great weekend.
I recently adopted a couple of Black Star young hens. I’ve never had this breed. Do you know what color eggs they will lay?
Yes. They are high production birds. They lay lots of tan eggs
What is the difference between americanas and Easter eggers
True Ameraucanas are pure bred birds who carry two copies of the blue egg shell gene. Easter Eggers are mixed breeds who only carry one (if any) copy. EEs won’t breed true
