    I have 13 color pack blues that I purchased from Jenk’s Hatchery (Americas oldest hatchery, located in Tangent, Oregon)…. They lay various shades of blue….
    5 cream legbars (bright blue eggs) and 3 blue laying Easter eggers… so in a few weeks, we will have LOTS of blue eggs in our egg basket! 💙💙
    I’ve 6 blue Easter egger Eggs in the incubator right now, that I crossed with a barnevelder (deep brown eggs) so they should hatch as olive eggers, laying dark green eggs! Excited to see what they lay in 5-6 months!! ….if I get any females that is 😮😬😐
    Blue eggs are my absolute favorite!!

    Building my flock, some were ordered, some were bought at feed store. I got only 2 left in batch at store. I believe Americanas. They are lighter grayish tones and black marks. Both still young yet, but pretty mellow. Of course, had to name them..Mr and Mrs Smith. (not what they seem) 😃

    When in Penna, we had Americana and found them good, friendly, fair layers, and they loved to scratch in snow. Eggs were anything from blue to pink to gold. Roosters tolerated the kids, even the little ones, but did not tolerate cats, dogs, bears, or hawks. Roosters would stay between the hens and strange people. Were I to get birds here, in south Arizona, I think partridge rocks would be good. while we like eggs, rocks are good for the roaster, too. Roosters have good survival when caponized, and a capon can be kept up to 6 months and still be good to eat. For bug patrol, old native chickens will wipe out ticks and flies, and do not tolerate coyotes or cats. niio

    I had five Delewares. Not sure if all of them or just some, but i got Blue eggs from them. The breeder had only one other breed at his farm, Australorps i think.

    Got one Lavender Ameraucana pullet but plan to have her some friends next spring. She's stuck in a coop with a bunch of Buff Orpingtons, the cuddliest birds I've ever seen but they are anything but cuddly to my poor little Silver. Plans at the moment are to cross them with my Black Copper Marans. Would like to have a Lavender rooster but that's a whole nother ball of wax to figure out.........

    The True Blue is pretty! What is their temperament like?

    • @kylaabegglen1275

      I have 2 young, 20 week old, Whiting True Blue hens. They aren't laying quite yet. They are both very friendly with the other chickens, I have 4 bantams and 3 full size hens in with them, and also with people. I have spent quite a bit of time with all of our chickens since the day we brought them home also. Whiting True Blues can be pretty much any color, some have muffs and some don't. We have one that is all black with muffs and her feathers have a greenish-blue shine in the sun. Our other True Blue is black with little white specks all over and no muffs, her feathers also shine a greenish-blue in the sun. They are sweet and really smart, they know their names and look at me when I say their names and talk to them, even though their names rhyme, Stella and Bella. They came from Murray McMurray Hatchery. I'm really excited to see what shade of blue/turquoise they will lay. I read that some are paler, some are a medium shade and some are bright blue/turquoise. I highly recommend them just by their temperment and friendliness.

      @@kylaabegglen1275 They sound like a great choice! I love that they are so friendly and social! I think I have bookmarked McMurray's hatchery. I noticed on this video that there were quite a range of different colors, but I really love the silver gray. Not wild about the speckled and blotched ones though. I love chickens with greenish-blue iridescent feathers too! Do you have a rooster or are yours all hens? I'm curious to see what the feathers are like on the roosters. Do any have that red or is it always variations of blue/silver or dark brown, black and white? I love roosters with long arched iridescent tail feathers, and red chest and upper body. I noticed that the person who made this video had one or two with coloring like that but I wasn't sure if they were Whiting True Blues or if they were another variety.
      I wonder if the color of the parents determines the color of the offspring or if it comes out very random in each group of babies?

      @kylaabegglen1275 Год назад

      @@IAMGiftbearer I just have the 2 hens right now. If you look up colors of Whiting True Blue chickens it says that they come in a wide variety of different colors and patterns of plumage. It will show pics of different ones if you click images also. They come in light colors, medium colors and different patterns with black. Under Dragonfly Farm there is a pic of a WTB rooster with orange, red and black body with a beautiful black tail.
