Thank you for this video about my mod! I'm flattered by what you said about the targeting system. Now you're inspiring me to change some of the angles. Also I'm gonna add a thing to let each camera have its own cam/player light override settings, to prevent it being too dark / hard to see. It is an evolving project, but still just a project for fun. And there's so many angles, I first produced them all by kinda trailblazing camera-paths through the game, so there's a bound to be few misguided ones. But hey it's a mod and I really didn't expect this much attention, and I think most of them serve their purpose and turned out pretty good. For front facing angles, there's a lot of them because: A.) You need to be able to see doors from the front every time, and B.) Cam direction will alternate back and forth down hallways so you can fight enemies from both sides. The idea is to remember which camera angles help you see your enemy and try to strategically navigate to them
This is amazing though. I’ve got the platinums for nearly all the RE games but I’ve never played RE2R. Started with RE2 on N64. Why Capcom don’t make releases like this for consoles is utterly stupid.

The re2 remake devs actually considered making a fixed camera mode. There is even a mini prototype video you can find early in development seeing leon walking through west wing in fixed camera glory. They unfortunately cut it likely because of time constraints and the game not being built for fixed camera, which this mod can show with unsolvable puzzles not being built for fixed camera. But even if they did make it, capcom would probably charge it as dlc since they dont even allow us to hear the original soundtrack. But with how uncanny it is to see resident evil 8 go from a first person view to third. We might get a first-person setting in another remake game. Hopefully, code veronica remake would be the finale to these remake series. It's the game with the most potential to be freely changed. It would also complement re4 remake since we started this remake adventure with 2 and now we get to see the climax of both Leon and Claire's stories.
As much as I would love CV, it's basically inevitable we'll be getting a 5 Remake next. If you thought people saying RE4 remake was unnecessary got annoying fast, you just wait.
@bruhtholemew I know 5 has its fans, but I honestly could go without a remake. I know the brain dead Ai soured the single player potential, and I love co-op experience. But despite having cool boss designs and SHEVA (better Rebecca and underrated), there not a lot I like about re 5. If they tone down the goof, it could become an entirely different experience like 4 remake. If it's all goof, it can become hot garbage like re 3 remake. I'm sorry if I'm being brutally honest, but re 5 jumped the shark to the downfall of resident evil and I don't see how they can remake it without making a new game.
I'm in the camp of loving both the old fixed camera style and the over-the-shoulder style of the remakes. This mod looks awesome, and I'm definitely gonna check it out a little ways down the road when they iron the kinks out more.
It’s crazy that a fan puts this much effort and love into camera customizations for RE2 remake yet Capcom won’t do it for their own fucking product. It’s not like they can’t!
It’s absolutely beautiful, this is exactly how a GameCube style RE2 remake would have been, I am finally at peace… now hopefully they can do the same with RE3 remake.

Naturally, I couldn't resist my desire to crank that stuff up from the room you learn the frequency in, to the place it's needed for, alerting literally every monster on the way, it was hilarious... and strangely emotional x)
This was on my mind the other day. While I love the direction they took the remake, I do quite miss the tight, tense experience of the original Resident Evil trilogy. I'd like to see Capcom return to it in some way, perhaps with, dare I hope, a Dino Crisis remake.
I don't hate the over the shoulder view, but much prefer fixed camera angles (dozens of us!). It's nice to at least have the option. Can't wait to see more of this mod and try it out!
The fixed camera really makes you appreciate how close the graphics of the new remakes can be to the first one's pre rendered backgrounds. I love it when you can notice a specific idk... "idiosyncrasy" i guess in stuff. This is pretty unrelated but lately i've been really interested in how Shogo Sakai's Smash bros remixes use the same sounds as Mother 3, and how you can notice some songs in Brawl are probably made by him with how they are blatantly copying his Mother 3 stuff. (he must have been pretty tired after having worked on hundreds of songs all by himself like a year before...)
2:34 The next mod that REmake 2 needs now is a Classic Lighting mod. To get the lighting setup closer to the original's. AKA not have roughly 60% of the game be shrouded by garbo darkness.
Honestly, try the Manual Flashlight mod a bit, it's built into REFramework so you don't have to hunt it down. Turns out a lot of the dark rooms and areas are lit enough to be manageable without a flashlight in the first place, it's mostly the 1F East Hall that's pitch black on purpose.
There’s something beautiful about fixed camera games. Each shot is a deliberate work of art, you work creatively within those limitations. I wouldn’t want it for every game, but I wish we had some nice 4k pre rendered backdrop games :(
