A police officer on duty refusing to identify should be a crime with a minimum of 5 years
The citizen stopped should be legally allowed to assume that he is impersonating a police officer.

@@WBradleyRobbins the cop can ask the owner of the property (or someone with tenant rights/ or an employee of the owner) if they would like someone trespassed. On private property, one of those parties needs to ask you to leave, the cop can’t be the sole requester.

My agency doesn’t issue business cards and not all agencies use badge numbers.

Those are bullshit degrees. I worked with cops and masters degree in criminal justice and they were just as dumb as this guy. Earned my degrees in math and engineering and I knew the law better than they did. I will never have respect for LE in general nor the justice system.

They don't care about law suits as it's rare that anything bad happens to them personally as a consequence of the law suit.
Financial settlements are paid by the town's insurance, and the consequences for the payout is born by the taxpayer due to increased insurance premiums.
Wherever you find a complete absence of personal accountability there also will you find a distinct lack of integrity.
There's no law in the US that states that police officers must identify themselves upon request.

I wish it was his only problem. Somehow he has a disfunction of his memory, not knowing his badge number nor being able to call his supervisor. He also suffers from regression.

I was a deputy for 10 years, the last year was this agency. As a whole, they are a good agency and do right by the people. This is definitely a one off example. That being said, this agency is also a major contributing factor as to why I’m no longer in LE.
BUT, no they are not required by policy OR state law to get a supervisor at your request. That may be law in other states or policy with specific agencies, but not in SC and not at this Sheriffs office. They also do not in fact have badge numbers, so technically he is correct on that. They have a unit number, which is what they are called on the radio, and they have a “computer number”, which you heard him say in the video and is sorta like a badge number. The Sheriffs office I worked for before that and was the only other agency I worked, they didn’t have badge numbers either. Badge numbers are mostly a city cop thing.

Call the 911 and say that you've been stopped by someone who claims not to have a badge number and refuses to contact their supervisor. Essentially, report reasonable suspicion of someone impersonating a police officer. FYI, someone impersonating a police officer is paramount to obstruction of justice

I'm not aware of any state where a police officer can be the complainant on a "disorderly conduct" charge.
Make sure part of your lawsuit settlement is their police certifications and they can no longer do the job anywhere

If a cop doesn't want to give his badge number I would consider that an impersonation and call 911 on him.
A cop with no id or supervisor isn't a cop. Just leave and watch them try to defend themselves in court when you explain that you had no reason to believe that these people were indeed police and you left for your own safety.
Every government employee and most every other employee in this country has an employee identification number.
