This is Kabul city. Wake up Laila jan. I am the little kid in the middle of the three young teenage boys, at least one of my pictures at home looks like it. I know a bearded westerner took our pictures. Again, this is the heart of kabul in 1959 when I was about 11 years old.

This is a second reply to Laila Samadi:
First, this is the very heart of Kabul city. It is close to Chaman Hozoory in center of Kabul. Of the three boys, the kid in the center now has two PhDs (Doctorate Degree), speaks six languages (English, French, Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, and of course his mother tongue Pakhtu), lives in the Capital of Canada, Ottawa city, owns a house valued at over one million dollars, has a Mercedese and a Wrangler each worth about eighty thousand dollars and, works for the government of Canada as a senior officer. How do I know, you ask? I know because that boy is me. Yes, I am that eleven years old boy in the middle with a smile on his face. Of course that smile has long gone!!!

Back in the 1970's and early 1980's, Afghanistan was apparently like the modern day Dubai. My client told me....an Indian lady born in Afghanistan. Her parents apparently moved from India to Afghanistan when the country was doing well, they were some kind of professionals.
From what I understand Afghanistan is a rich country in terms of the land and its resources. But, it has been wasted and destroyed because of the hateful religion that has consumed their minds from the small to big amongst them.

Ignorant beliefs such as yours consume and constrict minds. Islam for the first time in human history anywhere and any religion or creed recognized woman as a human being. Islam (and not the Greeks) introduced the concept of democracy to the human race. Islam conceived and perfected the market economy (capitalism). Islam (Omar ibn al-Khitab) introduced the welfare state to the world. Islam intriduced 90% of all sciences. Ever wondered where the words algebra, chemistry, medical alcohol and hundreds of other scietific words come from? You guessed it. They are all arabic words. In the words of world-famous rennaisance thinker "if islam had not come to Europe, westerners would still have been living like wild beasts". Get educated

@@WordsofHonesty Deera Manena my friend.. Yes , there are a lot of ways to learn Arabic but the problem is that Arabic has so many accents that have big differences in between & all are different from the classic or Modern Standard Arabic.. But in general everything will be easy if you have a good vocabulary background & good knowledge in basic grammar of how to make a sentence…
News & conférence all are in standard Arabic, but most of the songs are in local dialects..

@@h.h.entertainer3978 Well, that is the issue with many languages. Pashto also has many dialects and accents that are different from the standard version but not to the extent Arabic is. The reason might be because Arabic has a far bigger variety of dialects compared to many languages as it stretches over a large area and has speakers in hundreds of millions. In my opinion, Modern Standard Arabic is the gateway to learning the language. Standard Arabic has its unique characteristics. You can express ideas in this language in a more eloquent, articulate and concise manner. There is a reason why Allah sent Quran in Arabic. Can I ask which city of Iraq you come from?

Not similar to the "medievil" societies in Europe. People in Afghanistan had emotional intelligence which the civilizations in the West still lack. This is also the very reason the West has been waging war at the East. The West lacks humanity and doesn't respect life.

I'm trying to make and visualize an animated Indiana Jones movie set in 1941 where he goes to Kabul, but I can't for the life of me find some good footage or decent visuals of what the nation look at the 40's, so as of now, this is the best I have available to me. Useful because I have this annoying part of my head when I keep on thinking he's just in Cairo or the streets of Algiers again when I still know Afghanistan is a very different nation in terms of looks from the rest of them. Does anybody here know what presence the Nazis had in Afghanistan? I heard there were just some Nazi officials that only acted as propagandists and promoters of the regime but the army wasn't in the nation at all. Is there anything drastically different in this footage from what the nation would have looked like in the 40's?
