- After weeks of rumors and speculation and a couple leaks, Sony finally kicked off the summer gaming event season with a State of Play presentation, and while it didn’t exactly feel on par with some of the full-blown Showcases of years past, there was some cool stuff shown off.
Join Akeem, Jada, Nick and Daemon as they unpack what was revealed. For starters, we got our first look at Firewalk’s FPS Concord, which is a 5v5 multiplayer FPS that leans heavily on a narrative that unfolds week after week. It’s got plenty of charm, but it’s hard to ignore how much of it resembles a Guardians of the Galaxy-flavored Overwatch-like. Meanwhile, we’re actually getting an officially licensed Marvel-flavored third-person Overwatch-like with Marvel Rivals, which is coming to PlayStation 5, starting with a closed beta in July. Until Dawn is getting a full remake for PS5 and PC this fall, and God of War Ragnarok will also be hitting Steam in September. We got a good look at some other games where you hit big epic monsters with cool weapons in new gameplay from Where Winds Meet, our first glimpse of Ballad of Antara, and Capcom’s first gameplay from Monster Hunter Wilds, which looks like more Monster Hunter in all the right ways. Speaking of monsters and Capcom, Resident Evil was sadly absent, but we got some more Silent Hill 2 Remake gameplay courtesy of Konami and Bloober Team, and it’s shaping up to be here just in time for Halloween. Shockingly, Sony remembered the PlayStation VR 2 exists, and showed off some gameplay from Skydance’s Behemoth, an epic medieval fantasy action game, as well as Alien: Rogue Incursion, an action-horror game from the Creed: Rise to Glory team. Dynasty Warriors Origins will let you shout “Die, you nasty warriors” at a whole lot of dudes with great hair and long flowing robes, while Infinity Nikki will let you run around a big whimsical open world having great hair and wearing long flowing robes.
Did you know this is the fifth installment in the Nikki series? Well, it is, and it’s getting a beta on PS5 sometime soon. Now, arguably the reveal that had everyone the most excited was Astro Bot, a brand new full-fledged 3D platformer featuring the little PlayStation mascot who could (and sometimes does) taking the charming formula from the PS5 pack-in Astro’s Playroom, and expanding it across 80 levels, with tons of new enemies and abilities, and probably some great #Sony easter eggs. Astro Bot is coming to #PS5 and the #PlayStation5 owners can rejoice. Игры
If Xbox would’ve had this showcase.. everyone would’ve been mad
Xbox is irrelevant.
Exactly... Loved it how they gushed over Astrobot xD
@@gilbertoarellano8525xbox showcase gonna be 🔥
Ofc they would... This is a state of play not a show case.
The clapping at the beginning 💀💀💀💀💀 fckn crazy
Personally wanted Concord to be a AAA version of what 'Marauders' is. Not, another Overwatch, Valorant, Xdefiant, etc trend chaser of Team/Hero-based kiddie mascot fatigue.
Truly thought Concord was going to be where 3 or 4 teams of 4 customizable-smugglers would load in from customizable-ship interior hubs to city ports or space stations or space ruins or mines or broken-down space barges or even prisons to get-in & get-out with high-value assets.
But yet, just another Hero Shooter dump. Anticipation went from an 8 to a 3 instantly after that trailer.
😂😂😂😂😂
It feels like 2013 was such a fun and exciting time for gaming and now all we get is Astrobot
a Steaming pile of Astro🤖bot .
Please! Valve💨
Most of the games coming to Xbox, Lol 😆😂🤣.
whats an xbox?
It’s the remix to ignition.
Until Dawn is not like The Last of Us because the PS4 was not backwards compatible.
Nick is the only one in the panel who looked excited to be there and was well composed. Rest of the panel looked nervous/uncomfortable.
Your point 😒?
you must be smokin’ sum if you think any of us was nervous or uncomfortable. lemme take a hit lol
They all looked fine to me. There definitely seems to be a little bit of a different energy at these in person shows during events, which is understandable. Seemed like excitement all around to me.
Astrobot looked truly amazing. GOTY
Any direct or showcase needs to have one… JUST ONE game to sell me. This one had Astrobot. SOLD.
Nearly every comment on the PlayStation blog about Astro Bot mentions the lack of VR. Hopefully the same will happen here. Ignoring VR in a franchise that was initially built for it is frustrating at best. If this panel is also ignoring the connection, one can only assume it is intentional.
Little Deviants on PS Vita's fun
Why was this video reuploaded?
Remember when we got each IGN podcast on a certain day at a certain time? Instead of an unorganized free for all not knowing what you’re going to get week to week 👎🏻
Hi Everyone !
Truly a terrible State of Play to kick off the season of gaming
Astrobot makes it better than any other state of play
Its a state of play... The best ones are deep dives in a specific game like they did with horizon... The fact people expect alot of these is mind blowing to me. Wait for their showcase next year.
Honestly, it wasn’t bad, but the lack of anticipated games was felt.
My boi Nick killin it as usual.
First State of Play that the PSVR2 games left me lot more hyped than the flat games. Great SHOW for VR audience!
Ikr? Thought the same
Love every 1 of these panelist 🔥🔥🔥 .. can we have a 20 questions 😜
GoW Ragnarok…. Mehhhh
Overall cool state of play! Enjoyed it
Worst show.
This state of play was bad besides 3 or 4 games.
