    Pretty sad how in many aspects Online is better than 2. The only thing that number 2 does better than Dark Arisen and Online is the character creation and graphics.

      I'd argue even the graphics in DD2 is worse. But that's my personal opinion. I like the art style for ON and DA, realism but still kind of low quality: Kind of like a dream.
      2's good, there's a lot of things to like. It's not a bad game, even with the performance, but I definitely prefer DA and ON.

      @@seven7383 Actually based take imo lmao, I get you, ON and DA might be a little crunchy these days but they still possess strong dashes of colour throughout that apply so much personality that DD2 seems to entirely lack.

    Do not hire high level pawns. If you want to stay having fun, do not do it. Biggest mistake i made in the game. Now its just Dragons Dogma "watch my pawns power level me" online.

    • @hagura6777
      @hagura6777 2 месяца назад

      Not true, if a pawn is more than 20 levels higher, you only get 50% of the XP. 40 levels and its 30%. So it doesn't matter that much, plus 20 levels more when you are level 60 is not much more, the pawn AI sucks and will still get bodied.

    • @zackarywest8096
      @zackarywest8096 2 месяца назад +1

      @@hagura6777 im gonna push back a little here, damage is highly based on level in comparison to the monster, all you have to to to at level 20 is hire 2 level 80 sorcerer pawns and they can carry through BBI and you will be leveling so fast its nuts. So even if your getting only 25k to 45k a kill, its still nearly a level per kill. all the way till 50, then its 1 level per 3-4 kills. lol

    I tell you what instead of the expensive waste of garbage dragons dogma 2 was they could have just made a dragons dogma online 2 made the graphics like dd2 and thats it really dd online just looks amazing anyway, i dont know about cooking in dd2 but if they just made some more recipes then omg let me have this game. DD2 couldnt have been what the developer was intending to develop when i see how good online is.

      Interesting detail here, Dark Arisen specifically and more importantly DDO were actually made under a different director (Kento Kinoshita, who is still present in the company, and I expect would be brought back on for future Dragon's Dogma projects) whereas Itsuno directed specifically vanilla Dragon's Dogma and DD2. So maybe DDO and DD2 are indicative of a difference in design philosophies.
      Chatted with a friend about this, and they suggested that, with Itsuno also being the primary director for modern DMC, maybe it was his goal to distance Dogma's overall pace from that, to create something just as enjoyable but a bit more methodical. I believe he succeeded with the original Dragon's Dogma, but DD2 took too many steps in this direction to the point of feeling like a downgrade to some degree. (That said, I maintain this wouldn't sting nearly as bad if the story had been remotely decent.)

  • @notimportant8643

    Ive tried this out over the past few days. To be completely honest the mmo aspects kinda ruin this game for me. Feels insanely grindy even more grindy than mmos today, it suffers from mmo enemy hp bloat, the combat is good but it feels like its missing something the other dragons dogmas had. Gearing feels really bad, i cant even find a proper set of pants to wear. Im lvl 7 and the only quests i am capable of doing are EXTREMELY boring. You can hire a level 50+ pawn for absurdly cheap but then you just watch the pawn kill everything for you. I tried tackling a story quest and i literally cannot kill a chimera that i need to progress the story. Even the op as hell pawn doesnt maintain its aggro efficiently or do that much damage to it despite being literally 40+ levels higher than the fucking thing and then the chimera ends up 1 shotting me since its an indoor fight and i cant survive long enough to tickle it to death (this is what Imean by the mmo hp bloat). I cant find a better weapon for the class i play (high sceptor) even at vendors in the city you start in. Everything costs tons of gold. Im really trying to like this and I mean REALLY trying. If you got any advice for me id love to hear it but rn this is FAR from peak dogma to me

    • @ThiefofCrystals
      @ThiefofCrystals  2 месяца назад +2

      Tbh the game seems very much balanced around specifically a party of players, so I'd advise to go in with the expectation that you're gonna play with other people in order to actually be effective. To this end, there's a DDO discord you can use to find people to play with, coming from fighting games this is common practice and typically pretty effective.

    • @notimportant8643
      @notimportant8643 2 месяца назад

      @ThiefofCrystals I dont really like the idea of having to ask ppl on discord if they are available to play, just doesnt jive with me. I really want to like this game and get my dragons dogma itch satiated. Do you really think other players are truly necessary?
      Are you planning on making guides for this game? I could really use the help like massively. I can't reiterate just how much I want to like this game, if I can figure out a way to actually take down monsters like it's dd1 then I think I could love this game despite it's mmo-ness

    • @ThiefofCrystals
      @ThiefofCrystals  2 месяца назад

      @@notimportant8643 I mean at the end of the day we need to understand this was and is an MMO, it's totally fine to not enjoy those elements and I completely understand if you don't, but expecting it to function as a seamless solo experience when it isn't designed to be one is like forcing a square peg into a round hole. We gotta either work past it if we enjoy the core gameplay, or just leave it be.
      I'm on the fence about guides, maybe I could at least make a gameplay primer, but something we recently discovered is it's at least vital to have a healer pawn on hand because healers are the only ones who seem capable of revealing an enemy's weak points during rage ect. (the big spheres that pop up on their body) which is what you need to target to do real damage.
      Maybe that's the ingredient you've been missing but I'll be real level 7 is not far in this game and I've been needing to accept just running past monsters that are too big for me to handle to make progress. But to stress, levelling a vocation alone and levelling one with friends were two entirely different experiences and the latter happened a lot faster. Also quick tip, other gear stores exist in different locations (like Estelle's Outfitters - I think that was the name - in Tel village.)

    • @notimportant8643
      @notimportant8643 2 месяца назад +1

      @ThiefofCrystals that's fair, I've bounced off every mmo I've tried but I absolutely love dragons dogma and since there's nothing else on the market that really competes with dd I figured I'd try it out.
      Didn't know about the enemy weakness and the bubbles that's really helpful info. I got a priest pawn but she doesn't seem to reveal weak points at least not from what I noticed but it's possible I've just been oblivious to it. I'll try going back into it with an open mind, it just might not be my thing. I just want more dragons dogma in my life, playing these games have legitimately ruined every other fantasy rpg for me(even elden ring) and it really bums me out that we're unlikely to get more of it. Series has all the potential in the world I just hope capcom wakes up and sees that

      @@notimportant8643 Similarly, I just learned that tanks provide vital damage via their enchantments, so having a well-rounded party seems best. Also, apparently crafting is the way to go for most things in this game, made easier by the blessing granted by the server.
      I don't think we're actually unlikely to get more tbh - Capcom considers it a key IP and the director of both Dark Arisen and DDO, Kento Kinoshita, is still in the company. DD3 may still be a reality one day.
