I agree I still have the previous keybord in my cupboard. i am most excited about ios 18 as i keep on hearing that Apple are going to launch a hybrid version of the software which will be mor like mac osx.
@@richardschembri3538 when i logged into my youtube on the new ipad it was named 17(something) Macosx, im surprised no one noticed this or its already known... made me think something is coming but maybe not either way im happy
For my use case it definitely doesn’t justify upgrading from my M1 Pro and Magic Keyboard. Other than weight, I didn’t find the trackpad or keyboard experience lacking. I wish Apple could focus on pushing iPadOS to more of a mac experience. Where the lines between using a MacBook and iPad Pro are blurred.
I stoped using Apple keyboard in the pre 2018 version. Seems the 2024 one is best yet but top heavy nature concerns me for laptop type use. Considering making a weighted attachment for base which would add .5to 1lb weight totaling as much as 3.7 lbs.
Im new to the ipad game.. bought my M2 Ipad 12.9 pro a few months ago not knowing a new m4 and new magic keyboard was coming out and always wanted the magic keyboard. Now this new magic keyboard comes out for the m4 but not compatible for the m2. For people who have dealt with with this before, is it worth waiting to see if a new version of the magic keyboard comes out that supports M2 ipad pro OR am I better off switching my m2 for the new m4 to also get the new magic keyboard???
Good question, I have an ipad air M2 as well. Right now I am thinking that there are some cases that work while using the magic keyboard, so: if I slap a M4 case on my M2 ipad, then the new magic keyboard should work bc the magnets are aligned now right
🐬I was thinking about getting the 13” iPad Air so I could keep using my Magic Keyboard. I’m still mulling it over as I start putting money into savings, but I would definitely have kept the same keyboard when upgrading. I’m probably going to keep my current 2018 iPad Pro regardless though. I’m curious how the new Magic Keyboard is balance wise when you use it on your laptop as opposed to a desk… That’s my one complaint with the old keyboard was that it is tippy.
Saw a video, there is a way to use old magic keyboard with iPad 2024. It needs a thin magnetic plate between ipad & keyboard. importing it from china soon.
I cursed Apple at first and wanted to use my old Magic Keyboard. After getting the new one, a smile came to me because now I get it. I will get a back-up iPad on the cheap to use on the road and in certain conditions. The M4 performance on my compute intensive tasks is breathtaking. Cannot wait for some apps to unleash the full power of this iPad. For most normal day to day users, the old generation iPads are more than enough. . My grandson will appreciate me loaning him my old one.
I think your case is different from mine, because if I'm not mistaken you was looking to upgrade because you wanted a better storage configuration. I'm currently rocking a 1TB M1 iPad Pro... and I personally don't want to downgrade to a lower tier storage. So, it's not a big deal upgrading to the newer M4 iPad Pro... given the cost factor. But if I could get the new accessories with my M1 iPad Pro, I'd definitely settle for it. Because I picked up a 1TB M4 iPad Pro and I'm more excited about the keyboard.
I did buy the new Magic Keyboard as I do use the trackpad quite a bit. For me I also like the added row of function keys. The iPad Pro is my laptop even thought iPadOS sucks. I do a lot of video and photo editing. My 13” with 1 TB shows up Monday!!
Is the new Apple Magic Keyboard compatible with my IPad Pro (5th generation)? I currently have the previous keyboard and would like the better trackpad. You alluded to the alignment of the magnets to be able to use the old keyboard, so am assuming the same issue would be true for using the new keyboard on a previous IPad Pro. I’m not ready to upgrade IPad’s, but I would upgrade the keyboard. Thanks in advance for your thoughts…
Agreed, it is annoying that they have no trade-in program for the old accessories. It's wasteful for them to be sitting around otherwise, and a pain to have to try selling them.... which I will be doing with the old magic keyboard now.
Not that Apple really does bundling, but it would be nice to see a free Apple Pincel with purhcase of iPad Pro and Keyboard. Also, I thought there an upgrade to the wattage of the new keyboard. Is it still the same 20Wh?
M2 ipad Air works with old magic keyboard. But M2 iPad Pro does not work with new magic keyboard. The new magic keyboard only works with new M4 iPad Pro
I love the overall look & feel of the new Magic Keyboard, but I hate the faux leather material on the underside. It even has a bit of that material that sticks out past the aluminum part making the edge sharp 🤦🏻♂️
Hey Fernando, you are one of my favorites buddy. Excellent job every show. Excellent thank you so much for all your hard work. If you can, please tell me the exact weight of the 11 inch previous Apple keyboard for my M2 iPad Pro 11 inch. Please not even Apple knows this information, thanks buddy
I think apple screwed over their old customers by making the new Magic Keyboard incompatible with the M2 and older iPads. I would definitely purchase the new keyboard to match my M2 iPad. iPad used greed, like the dog who missed the bone to its shadow. It’s as though, Apple doesn’t see potential for more sales.
MobileReviewsEh found that if you touch the screen on the new keyboard, it falls back so much more. Seems like a big issue that I think Apple needs to resolve imo.
The geometry on the old magic keyboard is infinitely better than the new one... That's why I won't be getting any new iPad... oh and the fact that I also prefer the non-aluminium version too.
Before I watch to the end, I’m going to bet that he is going to return the M4.. like he did his M2. Well I’m totally right. He’s definitely gonna return the keyboard. We’ll see about his M4 in the next video 🐬
I went today to compare im considering upgrading from ipad air 4th generation to pro but the 11 inch looks smaller than my 10.9 and what i didnt like is that they magic keyboard for ipad pro and air cost the same but the pro is made of aluminum and the air is just plastic! Why are u chargin the same price when one is nicer than the other... dissapointed
iPad keyboard should be universal, because it’s as new as the other keyboard 🎹,Apple Com should think about the consumer not just the money 💰 they can make
For a company that claims to care for the environment, why not ralease a Magic Keyboard with the function row that will also be compatible with the old iPad Pros. And now there are 4 different pencils.
Two years ago, i bought an ipad pro m1. I use it for basic browsing, and media consumption. I tought about getting a keyboard. Looking at prices and limitations (compatibility), i decided to sell this device. I bought anthinpad x1 duo device with a proper OS. There is no way back. Apple is a waste of money….

The function row makes all the difference in a good way. Much worth the upgrade.
Absolutely agree on trading in the pencil and keyboard, that would actually be a compelling case for me to upgrade from an M1

Any idea if the new iPad Air 13 inch works with the Smart Keyboard Folio?
Came here for the comparisons to see if worth the upgrade, got exactly what I wanted to learn. Thank you for getting to the what matters fast.

I want this keyboard, but the lack of a case option to protect the tablet when removed makes it a no-go.

Apple should’ve added a weight to the trackpad to counter weight the weight distribution like a strip of steel couldve balanced the iPad’s weight

Homeboy’s got the new Harry Potter Gringott’s bank Lego set. Such a sick set 🔥
Only reason for the new keyboard, is to enjoy the ESC key :D
What do you think of display scratch risk due to the aluminium side facing and touching directly the screen?
The screen isn’t touching the metal directly, there’s a ”rubber lining” surrounding the keys
@@helikas-y2l The term for that rubber thing is a gasket. :)
@@helikas-y2l Thank you for your reply. Can’t wait to receive my iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard.
The old polyurethane material was so easy to easy to damage, especially around the keys. That alone is a massive improvement.
It’s further back to make room for the bigger trackpad and function keys

Unfortunately the new Magic Keyboard can only be used with the new 2024 M4 iPad Pro’s it doesn’t even work with the new 2024 iPad Air models.

That wobble though… that’s a deal breaker for me on the new MK.
🐬 Great work as always.😉
Great video! 🐬🐬🐬
That’s a very good point about urging Apple to accept Magic Keyboard trade in when you also trade in the iPad.
Give one reason why Apple should do that lol. - They’re in the business of making money and the older keyboards are obsolete now.
Thanks for this informative, well thought out review! I don't need to upgrade, BUT I WANT TO! :)
Isn't the new keyboard giving 60w of pass through now
I -refer the Logitech’s. Similar to Microsoft surface pro and less expensive.

I get not making the new MK compatible with the older iPads but, Apple could’ve somehow made the new iPads compatible with the older MK.
The perfect tablet, my take is iPadOs 18 will allow run mac apps. Save my comment.
What a gorgeous guy! 🤩

The new keyboard is supposed to be unbalanced. It's lighter than the ipad and topples backward when placed on an uneven surface.

Why is he bullshitting. The new iPads are compatible with the old magic keyboard
